I Knew of them in high school around 1985, but the weird kids listened to them and I was a metal head then, but I was Cure curious by 1988 I was listening to all types music, especially rap and dance. I head a mix of Lets Go To Bed and I had to hear more. By 1991 I was obsessed and I have been ever since.
I still love the Cure as much as I did back in the late 80s and 90s. Timeless song likes "How beautiful you" will never be replicated. We were lucky to experience the genius song crafting of this band
I'm amazed that I'm still so in love with this band 35 years later. I'm so grateful they are still making music and touring. I saw them for the first time in 1992 and I was convinced that was their last tour. I just saw them last summer and they were just as good as 1992.
I recorded that BBC Tour Bus interview (35mins 40secs) on VHS in August 1989 and have searched for it for years on RUclips. Well done. That made my day seeing that.
I went to the 3 Wembley gigs at London in July 1989. Still have my stubs and program. The tickets were only £12.50 ! They were spectacular and they still are.
Those are some of my favorite shows. Since they recorded the songs for Entreat, you know they recorded all 3 nights. I would love for them to release them, even if they don't mix them. There aren't any soundboard recordings of all 3 night.
I was 14 when Disintegration came out... I saw most of these clips at the time - as a teenager in pre-internet times these were EVERYTHING... Somewhere in the loft is a deteriorated VHS that I recorded a lot of these (and other episodes of Rapido, Snub TV, The Word, etc etc) on to so I could watch them over and over. Thanks for putting them in one place!
I started collecting video around 1995. I would trade with other fans and I had a lot of TV appearances and interviews. There was no RUclips so this was the only way to see it. I still have those VHS tapes, but no VCR. I'm glad you could enjoy these all in one spot. Eventually I would like to do this for all their periods. I did one for Pornography too and it's on my channel.
Same I’m now 57 but I had all those videos like you were saying on VHS years ago I used to watch them over and over loved all those shows I was in Australia in 89. I saw well I saw the cure .. obsessed with them ever since truly wonderful
Thank you for this, although my Cure times are further back - a special hour for the album "Pornography" would be my fulfillment 🖤 but that shouldn't detract from this 🥀🖤🍷
@@thedefinitivecure9298 Good morning - well, that's what I call a highlight, wow .. Now I just have to get home quickly after work and then we can get started - I'm looking forward to it and thank you from the bottom of my heart, stay healthy and have a great time, best Greetings Carsten 💖🖤🍷
I think you will like it. I took most of the available footage from 1982 and compiled it. Please take a look at the rest of my channel as I have some unique content. I made some videos to cover songs like Purple Haze and Hello I Love You.
The cure sounds better with Boris Williams, the speed of the songs and Robert singing Disintegration in the right tone its just amazing and sad at the same time
Boris was an amazing drummer and was like a metronome but Jason is really good too. He's been with the band longer than any other drummer. I wouldn't say one was better than the other. This version of disintegration they played in 1990 was very fast. I don't think it's played slower because of Jason since they have played the slow version with Boris too. I think Robert just slowed it down because it's better.
I don't know, that's just the way the video was. I used Filmora 13 to edit and since there are different formats, it just matches them to the project settings. I still get confused between 720 and 1080 and upscaling. How do you know the video is upscaled? If you explain it maybe I can correct it. thanks
I think you talk about things you just don’t understand. The scale is more than correct, 1080p for this kind of 1989 video is an incredible quality. And 1080 is not a scale but a video quality. The scale is what makes the video square. And it’s square because our TVs in 89 were square, not 16/9. Know what you’re talking about before commenting next time.
@@thedefinitivecure9298 up-scaling a lossy format (which the origin is) makes the quality suffer. For example, if you convert a 192kbs mp3 to 320kbs, the result is worse than the original 192kbs. Hope this helps, and again thanks for the upload!
1989 was a great time to be a Cure fan
2024 is also a great time. I am so grateful that The Cure is still making new music and playing shows 35 years since I first fell in love.
Been listening to them since I was 13. I'm almost 49. I will never ever fall out of love. The best music ever made by the best band ever formed.
Same to me. Since summer 89 until the rest of my life (i'm 49). Disintegration is the best album ever.
Kinda the same. I discovered them in 1982 with the Pornography, Faith and Seventeen Seconds albums. I was 4yo. I’m now 46 and still a big big fan.
Me too since 1991

I could have written exactly that! Except I've been listening to them since I was 13 and am just 49! :^)

Did you get to watch the whole thing yet? If so, what did you think?

12:58 extremely rare to watch Cure on playback!!! They just hate this.
I actually enjoy seeing it once in a while. You can look it goes all the way back to 1980 on French TV
Last Dance live, love it
I saw the Dazzle tour 2 nites at the Beacon. Where wuz you?
42:21 Porl playing with the reverse guitar and playing whatever lol
They really hate playback.
I love watching them mime.
Thank you for this, why the weird up-scaling to 1080p tho..?
Is the original available anywhere?

Record companies ruin creativity now it's all about greed rather than the beauty of songs
The Cure are releasing a new album, Songs Of A Lost World on Nov 1, 2024. The songs are beautiful.
Another 'Top of the Pops' lip-synch appearance at 12:00? Simon has the guitar, so it must be.
So good to see these clips nonetheless...
If I’m not mistaken TOTP almost always required lip syncing. Probably not their choice.
