I feel like what was said regarding the shame about getting dressed up is one of the issues that has been caused by the feminist movement. making wine feel ashamed for being feminine and pretty. wanting to please a man, God forbid!!!
I feel that the feminist movement created monsters, internal monsters that women are now having to overcome. as if we didn't have enough things to work on with childhood shit
not being able to be vulnerable, or gentle. having always to be strong are attached with the childhood programming, but for many are the effects of feminism gone crazy

I agree that the feminist movement has taken a bad turn, it was meant to give women a choice whether we wanted to stay at home with the kids or whether we wanted to work full-time but nowadays it means that we have to work full-time. It has basically created the same problem it was meant to cure but in a different form.

@Oluseyi Kolade: I feel we need to almost always keep in mind that things have multiple levels and multiple sides. The problem with feminism is that it looks at some levels/sides that traditionally SEEM exaggerated . . . and tries to "fix" that by exaggerating other level/sides. It's problematic because very often things are actually balanced . . . but you only see one side/level and it SEEMS unbalanced. So then, when you try to balance it, you actually are unbalancing the hidden balance. Men and Women, for example, are pretty balanced in traditional roles, developed over centuries . . .

True feminism is NOT a denial Of femininity... On the contrary; at its heart lies the principle that a woman's true power is much needed in a world dominated by the masculine. Feminism has never been about women behaving like men. It realizes that men, as well as women are victims of a hyper competitive society and the need for balance between the healthy masculine and feminine.

Oluseyi Kolade This is a distortion of feminism. True feminism does not ignore the feminine.nor does it disparage the masculine. The problem lies in this patriarchal culture of competition ; worship of consumerism, etc. Both genders have suffered because of this. Men being taught to not be vulnerable. Women having been discouraged from engaging in pursuits that are considered masculine, etc. Latin American women--the ones that are not from conservative backgrounds--see no contradiction between feminism and being feminine.
There is a great talk on RUclips by Isabel Allende that talks about this. Unfortunately, it's in Spanish.

Karolina Lind Our having to work full time has nothing to do with feminism. It has everything to do with a system that allows wages to be stagnant; that ships well paying jobs overseas to increase the profit margins of corporations and transfers the wealth of working people to the very top. To give you an idea of how men have suffered because of this, I recommend Professor Angus Deaton's work: scholar.princeton.edu/deaton/deaths-of-despair
