I loved that the AV-30 had a traditional attitude indicator look. I had wondered why there was no one offering that and the AV-30 was the first. You can even choose between different traditional styles like changing backgrounds on a phone!
Excellent episode Dan and Christy. Thank you for having UAvionics on to share information on their products. Keep up the excellent work. Safe skies my friends 🇺🇸🛩️
Christy, I am with you on the glass conversion… but I did just get the AV30 with Tail Beacon X. AV30 is really nice without looking like an add on. Still have my vacuum as backup!
I wish them the best. BUT. I had 2 different skybeacons on my Cessna. Both went inop. One under warranty. One out of warranty. Could not wait to remove it
I carry a Sentry in my small experimental, because my built-in uAvionix EchoUAT disconnects wifi from my iPAD intermittently. Maybe antenna placement issues. Usually a power reboot and the EchoUAT wifi comes back. It's a puzzle.
My concern on these products mounted on the tail and wing is how long they will hold up over time. Someone who hangars their plane versus one that sits in the weather full time, or a plane that is used often like a trainer/rental, too soon to know for sure. Could be costly if you have to replace every few years.
Most the forums have identified the issues limited primarily to the first start of the day for whatever reason. The added magnetometer has been introduced to increase the accuracy and eliminate the potential drift hiccups
A RUclipsr going by Cessnapilot (or Cessna150pilot?) had drift issues but learned that when he let the instruments boot up fully before moving the plane or starting the engine the drift issue went away fully.
ROI? Got call out their numbers - my plane just had DG and AI rebuilt for less than $1K plus removal/install and shipping ($500) = so all in $1500 total for that and if I had to rebuild pump $500 let’s just go to far end and say $2500 total for all 3 items That means I’m still less than 1/3 the cost of their dual AV 30(+install) I still see it as a HUGE step $$ across from my steam gauges to any vendors digital replacement Just my point of view Not knocking the company as I have their Tailbeacon and it is a great solution for my aircraft
I guess the food for thought argument is the MTBF (mean time between failures) of a mechanical system (vac pump and gauges) and an electric solid state gauge. It's normally several hundred hours vs 1000s to tens of thousands hours
@@FlyingNDriving the mechanical items have only one feature whereas a dual AV30 offers much more capabilities along with redundancy. @dgriffin60 isn't an apples to apples comparison. Not to mention the electronic items offer a decent weight reduction.
Or less. Depending on what your aircraft is and condition. I'm an IA/A&P and just installed an AV30 in an RV8. I believe I charged $1500 for installation? It was not difficult on that model
I use both of their Red/Green wing tip units Sky Sensor ADS-B In and Sky beacon - Out.
Saves the weight of the Whelen strobe power supply(s) too.
Love the autopilot solution

I’m sticking with my steam gauges cheap reliable and they work.
I have sky beacon, sky sensor, 1 av-30 with av link , course data from my iPad in my 1960 Tri-Pacer. Love them!
Good morning from Minnesota! Great episode, great information!

Was hoping for an Oshkosh discount code. Lol. I’m getting two at-30’s very soon

I like the AV 30 but they cause realy bad signal interuption with my garmin 660 and uavionics hasnt come up with a fix for it yet
so disappointed that they didn't make the X small enough to fit into the RV9 rudder... there'd be even more aircraft with them.

Didn’t they have an issue with drift on the av30? Was wondering if that has been fixed?

Thats good to know cause I have been debating putting two of these in my Cessna 150 and removing vacuum system@@watashiandroid8314
precession on AV-30 DG still sucks big time. Regardless of updates.
👍✅ Wow!

Did I understand correctly, two AV30"s plus install for bout $7500?

They should be hooking you up for free with your warrior. You’re giving them a lot of exposure
~Half the planes on the field have the adsb transponders, at the biggest aviation fly in in the world... I'm pretty sure they got plenty of exposure
@@FlyingNDrivingagreed, they have and had plenty of exposure.
