- Hey guys, here is a video of me lowering my c5 z06. This process works on all c5 models. Please work at your own risk.

Good straightforward vid. Glad to see a young dude working on his own ride!
Very good video for us C5 drivers. I enjoy working on my 2004 yellow convertible. Videos like these help to make the sometimes daunting task much easier. Many Thanks, Frank
Hey bro thanks for the videos. This is my dream car since I was 22. I'm not 36 years old and still have not obtained it. But as of right now I'm saving every single penny and hopefully I will have it in 10 months. Continue with the great videos because it really inspires me to get mine I'm sure it inspires other people as well.
cesdog27 this was my dream car ever since I was 8 and I bought my 2002 electron blue Z06 with 79k miles for 15k last year. I love it! Such a reliable fun car
Hope u got one
Just an FYI you can also cut the bushings on the stock bolts. That will save you from buying new bolts, also a heads up, when you lower it a lot like mine was, stock shocks will bottom out very quickly, you suspension travel will be much shorter. I ended up doing the bilstein sport shocks that where not only shorter and much better valving for shock and rebound. Cool videos my friend
hi b8 are b6?
Looks great. Thanks for the info.I'm 7 years behind! Lol
great, thorough explanation of how this is done. Thank you!
nice vid, explained the process pretty thoroughly
Enjoy your videos. Going to be purchasing a 02-04 Z06 soon and I like the DIY approach.
Recently bought a 01 ZO6 and man have your videos really helped me out a lot 👌
Congrats Ezequiel!
Lots of people like to slam Vettes it all the day down, which is usually too much. Also, you should measure your turns of the socket by 1/4 turns (four 1/4 turns is one complete rotation of the bolt) in order to have some kind of measurable standard to follow for the other lowering bolts. After you slower, you have to drive the car around the block in order for the suspension to settle in. Then measure the ride height to see how much was changed. Yep, you should do a realignment after lowering.
In the process of lowering my 02 C5 (non-z06.) Was very motivated after watching your video. Car looks badass, man! So now, I'm surfing RUclips, waiting for PB blaster to do its job because my front bolts refuse to budge even after I relieved tension from the leaf spring.
7yrs later my pb blaster ain’t blasting
@@RACKO1Haha yeah, I gave up and took a sawzall to the bolts and slammed it, but that was two Vettes ago so it’s not my problem anymore 😂
@@1sloz 🤣😭
Right on, Bro. Thanks for sharing!
I bought some aftermarket lowering bolts for front and rear for my c5, was too figgin hot outside to mess with it, I'll post up a video of the process if I remember , changed the corner lights today, yay that wasn't fun
Sick car bro I have the exact same car and I love it it rips
I dont leave comments hardly ever but i liked this video man good job
This was a good vid. Pics and everything
I'm picking my z06 up on Thursday. and this is the first thing I'm gonna do lol. great video man
You rock my dude keep up these bomb ass tutorials
Thanks for the video I'm actually going to do this to my Z this weekend...
Great job 👍
Thanks for this! I just subscribed. I'm going to do this to my 99 FRC after it gets out of the body shop! Somebody backed into it the other day (heads up: replacing rear quarter panels on FRC/Z06 C5's are EXPENSIVE).
Ouch man thanks for the heads up!
When did you become "my boy"?
Good content! I’ll keep checking in on your videos!
That looks really good. Nice video..
Hey man I like your vids, I'm doing similar on my channel with my WS6 and AMC Rambler before I get a Z06. Keep up the good content, I'm subbing!
Nice video 👍
Just subscribed. More z06 videos!
Thanks man! I appreciate it
Appreciate these videos bro
not a huge difference but it looks good. nice car.
Thanks!
You made it simple. Thank you
Great Video man 👌
good job! very useful
A have a 02 c5 base model with long tube headers love your car bro
Thank a for the info bro
Does the car have to be raised so the weight is off of the wheels? Or can I just drive it onto some ramps and get under the car for the rear bolts?
Thanks for this video helped out 👍🏼
Why is it that both videos I watched on this procedure, both guys failed to own a 13/16 wrench? Like what the hell ?
alright you got a sub making fun of the lamborghini guy in the beginning
you guys know that lowering on stock bolts ruins your suspension geometry and corner weighting right? lowering my c5 z06 was such a big mistake. just spend the money and install some good coilovers like I did
corvettekid z06 Chevy says you can do this
King Jerel chevy does and says a lot of things that aren't true. lowering the Vette without changing to shocks that are designed for it will cause you to bottom out on everything (the progressive bump stops help a little bit) A-arm geometry will be slightly off, it will run the sprung/unsprung weight on each corner. it causes more problems than it fixes.
corvettekid z06 all I saying it's I watched a video and they said on track days you could lower it like this
Could be your shocks were already blown out and needed to be replaced. Anything 10+ years old can have bad shocks even if low mileage. Seals just go out with age. If the stock shocks were working properly then it wouldn't have had a problem, so if yours were bottoming out you probably had bad shocks that needed to be replaced. So, that's a good point to bring up for people to know.
No fist test or shoe test?
Hey Jamal, i have a c5Z as well. Do you know the size of the factory rear bolts ?
I believe it's a 6.5 inch long bolt that is 1/2'' in diameter
FYI you don’t need to take off any of the wheels to do this. 👍
Looks good, but I would want it lower.
Ya same. I think I will get lowering bolts later on down the road when I get wheels
I'm all about working on your own guys. But you can rest assured that Chevy spent millions of dollars in R&D to develop this cars ride, suspension, and how it works on the road to operate as well as it does.I just don't see this as alternative to get a certain "look" on an expensive car like the Z06. I won't be doing this mod to my car when I get it. Like one guy said, just open your wallet and get the coil over setup it will be cheaper in the long run.
5:04 is that bolt or nut getting stripped? I see metal savings coming out as you turn.
Probably just dirt thats on the exposed part of the thread.
Hows the difference in driving Jamal? Also was the alignment merited? The owners video warns against lowering it too much, have you encountered any issue with that?
The ride hasn't seemed to change much. It's honestly not much lower from stock. Also when I had the alignment done, my mechanic told me it was out bad but I had needed one before I lowered it so take it for what it's worth I guess. I would definitely get it aligned though considering how expensive these tires are
thanks for the vídeo
I'm putting 19 inches all the way around 275 in front 285 in the back you think they'll fit? I got 255 X 19th on front now
Lmao that intro tho 😂
Do you have pre installed jack pucks or are you just lifting the car raw?
I just go raw lol but you can just put hockey pucks on your jack for peace of mind
I actually need to raise mine
:) I will try that too!!
Were you using a regular socket on your impact wrench or is that just a shiny one? You should use impact sockets for that.
ever need an alignment? have you lowered it at all since?
Did it settle any more since the video?
I'm putting 19 with 275 on the front so I'm going to jack my car up how far can I go? I have an inch?
Any update? Has it settled any more? Still happy or are you going lower?
It's settled just a bit. I definitely want to go lower but I'm going to hold off til I get 18/19 wheels
How long did it actually take to settle
How much inches went down the z Jamal??? looks awesome... Go Mexican power man!!!
Now that it has settled. It probably went down 1-1.5 inches. and LOL I'm actually Pakistani
I know you are Pakistani but I saw in your videos you weared a Mexican t- shirt! lol... thanks for the advice and we are in touch! if you have Facebook what is? by the way I am Mexican and have a 2004 red torch z... lol
Oh ya lol. Nice man love the red on these cars!
How much did you pay for yours B&B bullets and in what page you did it?
@Major Disdain Lmao....right.
does anyone know if it's the same process if you have a C5 corvette with the first gen magnetic ride suspension?
thinking about buying a 2001 Z06. found a red with black and red interior for 15000. has 70k on it. Should I go ahead and spend the cash or look for something with less miles. (car is all stock)
Personally, I would try to find a 02-04 z06 because the 01's made less power and some were known to have oil consumption issues
That's good to know, I have my mind set on the Red/BLK & Red color combo. Of course this make my search a little more challenging. Really like the rare magnetic blue (as you have) also. So my search continues. Thanks for the advice. Will go with the 02-04 instead.
+Jimmy Aikens electron blue
Doing the interior that way is very easy in the after market, and I would strongly recommend spending the extra money for a low mile z06. The little things that need to be done can add up quickly in both money and time. I picked up a 2003 with 30k miles for 21k, I thank myself every day. Knowing it was garage kept and ordered vs bought off the lot is absolutely worth the extra 5-6k.
thanks
never said how much it lowered
Ever have problems with your c5 go to Jamals lol
Amigo no hablo inglés eso que ases es para levantar lo de atrás si me pudieras explicar en español te lo agradecería para hecercelo a mi corvett es del 2000 grasias
Holy voice.
Just subscribed. thanks for the video. really looking forward to doing this to my c5. If so I'll shoot a pic on Instagram eh438.
