Emperor Karl of Austria was actually in the same situation. Karl became the heir to the throne in 1914 and the emperor Franz Joseph was old at that point so he did not teach Karl anything. And then the emperor died 2 years later and Karl had to inherit the position without having any experience. Karl was a soldier, so he did not know how to rule.

I'm sorry, but Franz Joseph was no dictator, he was more like the Austrian (our) Queen Elizabeth. Most ethnicities in Austria-Hungary enjoyed civil rights, freedom of religion and autonomy. Elections were also free and fair, but you could only vote if you were male (which was actually normal in the early 20th century). He also never started a genocide unlike many other dictators shown here. We Austrians still hold him in high regard today and continue traditions of our old, beloved monarchy.
Thanks for understanding. I still liked your video of comparing multiple dictators worldwide, but I'm surprised that you didn't include Xi Jinping for example.
@@trifan8201 The 1848-49 revolutions happened under Franz Joseph's handicapped and incompetent predecessor Ferdinand I when it was still the Austrian Empire. In fact, with the exception of 1848-49, there was no single revolution under Franz Joseph's reign, unlike what happened to the Ottomans. Most ethnicities liked the monarchy, maybe except those who lived in the Hungarian part. Independence parties, which wanted to break free from Austria-Hungary, were in fact allowed to run in the 1907 & 1911 elections, but none of them combined even reached 1% of the votes, since most people were loyal to the emperor. Austria-Hungary was in fact slowly developing into a more democratic country since its foundation in 1867.

I feel bad for Nicholas his father didn't teach him how to rule an empire, what really made Nicolas a bad leader, was not that he didn't want to rule, but that he hadn't been blessed with his father’s strength of character nor his ability to rule over the empire.

Franz Joseph is not a dictator, he was a man who saw a thousand year empire fall at his feet. He saw all his heirs die. It’s actually really heartbreaking he lived so long to see everything start to fall apart, but passed away just before the collapse
He isnt all that nice he opressed slavs in bosnia
@@penknight9218 You can mostly thank Gavrilo Princip that anti-Serbian sentiment rose in 1914 at the first place. His nephew was willing to give Slavs all the rights, but he was unfortunately murdered by a terrorist. Also, most Bosnians were happy with Franz Joseph's rule - freedom of religion and Western reforms certainly satisfied the Bosnian people.

@@penknight9218 "Nahhh man, his nephew came on the Serb national day to parade in bosnia, and that angered serbs and bosniaks who assasinated him."
Isn't the Serbian national day on 15th of February? Also, it's not an excuse to murder a heir just because it was some special day in another country. It was the Black Hand's own fault that they ruined the Slavs' chances for full equal rights under Franz Ferdinand. The world would have been a much better place without Princip's pathetic move.

Hirohito sounds like he is struggling to speak.
Freedom and right, what a joke. If that's so, why did almost every ethnic group of Austro Hungary revolt during the xix and xx century

There are several leaders included in this video who were not dictators, and others whose qualification as such is doubtful. But the case of Salvador Allende is scandalous: he was an absolutely democratic president and it was the dictator who overthrew him (and bloodthirsty).
yeah the cia has a document LITERALLY SAYING there was collective leadership in the ussr and that the image of it being a dictatorship is exaggerated. the fact they put SALVADOR ALLENDE, who even by liberal democratic terms was NOT a dictator, just shows the lack of actual historical accuracy in this video
