I lnow lots of fans hated him, but Serpentor was always a favorite character of mine. I loved his look and he seemed like he had the potential to be a more competent leader and credible threat than Cobra Commander. Funnily enough, Serpentor is a founding reason I found my love of history. As a little 6-year old kid, i had no idea who Hannibal, Genghis Khan, or Julius Caesar was. But their use in creating Serpentor made me extremely curious and as soon as i was able, i grabbed encyclopedias and started looking them up, igniting an intense love of history. To the point that that is what my degree is in. So, thank you Serpentor and GI Joe.
I was going to be pissed if Gung Ho didn't make this list; he was always one of my favorites. This is a pretty solid list as a whole - I was never a huge Serpentor fan, but the rest of this is pretty spot on. I definitely agree with: Snake Eyes Storm Shadow Firefly Scarlett Roadblock Baroness Destro Lady Jaye Gung Ho Zartan I always felt Destro was more of a badass than Cobra Commander, but it wouldn't be a show without CC. There are a lot of joes and cobras that would also fit on this list; there are so many that are amazing. Some that would've fit here: Sgt. Slaughter Stalker Jinx Zarana
My 15 ranked are: 1. Golobulus - he can fly, is the true leader behind Cobrala and through his plans is the surrogate father of Serpentor. 2. Nemesis Enforcer - is a flying Wolverine with his claws that can cut through vehicles. super strong as well. 3. Pythona - a deadly ninja with claws that are acid laced, super fast and agile and is able to fight. 4. Serpentor- feat in video fused with all of Earths mightiest conquerors (and Sgt Slaugher ha ha in the animated series). Super strength, cunning and can fight. 5. Sgt Slaughter - animated series. Had Herculean strength, resiliency & skill to fight Serpentor & Nem Enforcer. 6. Roadblock - feat in video in OG animated series was blinded temporarily but still fought his way out of a Cobra stronghold while carrying a mutated Cobra Commander on his back in the middle of the Artic. 7. Snake Eyes - feat in video in OG series also had a situation being irradiated and lived to tell about it. 8. Duke - feat in video. came back from the jaws of death at least twice in the OG animated series. 9. Zartan - feat in video because he could literally perfectly cosplay any male on the planet. In film, he was POTUS. 10. Zaranna- because she could literally perfectly cosplay any female on the planet. 11. Dr Mindbender- feat in video 12. Gung Ho - feat in video 13. Destro - feat in video 14. Baroness- feat in video also similar to Zarrana has cosplayed as females to infiltrate enemy lines 15. Lady Jaye- ability to cosplay, has decent fighting ability and an ex-machina spear that seems to be thrown with precision. Some include explosives in the OG series. Honorable mentions 01. Protoplasm armature - can be molded to replicate anyone on earth. Cobra Commander caused the OG Serpentor attempt to mutate into a giant monster with incredible strength that decimated most of Cobras platoon before being stopped by Sgt Slaughter. 02. Storm Shadow - the other lesser but still extremely dangerous ninja. 03. B.A.T.S- feat in video 04. Cobra Commander- was disfigured and at one point betrayed and mutated into a snake but still came back and successfully got vengeance on Serpentor in the animated series. 05. Scarlett- feat in video 06. Heavy Duty- was the other tough guy before Roadblock was pushed to the forefront. 07. Shipwreck- very resilient with a similar ability to interact with his bird Polly as the Avengers comic version of Falcon. The next 2 are interchangeable. 08. Recondo- the guy is GI Joes jungle specialist and can survive any jungle. 09. Snow Job- calls the Artic and most below zero places home. 10. Falcon- Survived the Slaughter house, Dukes little brother and was one of the central focus in GI Joe the animated movie. 11. Flint - 3rd in command, pretty generic but being 3rd in charge puts him on the list. 12. Beachhead- 4th in command, also generic. 13. Bazooka - Grunt who carries a literal Bazooka cannon on his shoulder that can take down tanks, planes, etc. 14. Firefly - feat in video 15. Tomax & Xamot but only when fighting together. They managed to slow down Sgt Slaughter at one point during Serpentor's creation in the animated series. Also are in the Cobra Command council so are worth mentioning.
What about Flint? he was one of the main leaders in a lot of the missions in the show. He wasn't a favorite of mine but he still was a top dog and boyfriend to Lady Jane.
