  • After checking that the issue with non functioning keys was not the ribbon cable
We stripped the Chromebook and replaced the keyboard and outer case, then rebuild the Chromebook completely
This sorted the problem with the 4 non working keys, if it hadnt worked then we would have know it was it was a motherboard issue and we would have stripped the unit for parts.

How to replace just the keyboard and not the case with the many spares sold on ebay and Amazon?

You would still need to buy a new keyboard and strip the rest and rebuild the full unit. As it all attaches to the keyboard.

what about the actual keyboard(minus the bottom case)which are sold online? how can we replace them to an existing case instead of replacing the entire bottom case?

to replace the keyboard is a lot of work but you can still just reuse the rest of the parts. You would do the same as on the video but then just swap the keyboard out and then rebuild the full unit again. Everything in this model attaches to the keyboard unfortunately as this is an old way of designing a Chromebook. a lot of work but not a high cost in relation to all the other parts that might go wrong.
