    Very nice practical example of melodic embellishment in the jazz style using a concrete example. Most jazz tutorial video's are about chords and chord/scale based solo's. etc, but the melody (theme) of the song remains the most important part. Old jazz players from before the bebop era used this mainly as a basis for improvisation.

    Speaking subjectively, I tend to spend more time intellectualising about jazz than actually physically practising it. Even though I’m a member of Jazz Skills, with all of Shan’s amazing teaching available to me, this kind of mini-lesson prods me into instant affirmative action on the keyboard. Love it!
