@@flinchy-5224 I haven't seen it from Granady and Scrapie yet, but I'll check it out! I'm saying for Wirtual's channel, the format for this video works really well. Discovery -> Grind -> WR Review after. It flowed super well.
@@flinchy-5224 You could have seen this the day of as Wirtual also streamed it, then posted the vod, then posted a short of just the records. The comment has nothing to do with recency, but that 5 short maps, played and then reviewed fits well into a video of this size...
29:37 I got 7th place on this map and have a lot of experience testing out different strats, i found that if you go over the second reactor block too fast, the middle zoop never works. thats why you see the people slower getting the middle zoop and the people faster not going for it. for it to work properly, you need to wait for the first reactor to end before going over the second reactor block. edit: fixed timestamp + thanks for likes :)
This format is the best way to do it. It might not be as contemporaneous, but if people are looking for that, your livestreams tend to be what they gravitate to.
Honestly, these Weekly Shorts maps are more Trackmania than almost anything else in TM2020. As you said at 10:00, these feel more official than any official campaign maps, and that's because Nadeo/TM feel like they're having _fun_ with how they plan out and design these maps. It doesn't seem like they worry about these maps being exploit-proof, or having to limit themselves creatively for the sake of making the campaign 'even'. Legitimately, they thought about TM players, and the maps, having *fun* again. Sticking to a weird concept or idea that may or may not pay off map wise, but you _know_ they had fun making it, leaving it to you to figure out how to drive in the mad world they've made. Not to mention they actually seem to realize that it's also *fun* for people to think of, attempt, and pull off wild strategies & shortcuts, and instead of making several efforts to neuter them, they've made a gamemode _catering_ to that crowd too. That's why it feels more Trackmania than any official single-player campaign. Weekly shorts, once again, makes Trackmania FUN.
19:22 My family owns an English bulldog which we call champ, but we actually couldn't legally name the dog champ in America because apparently you cant name your dog anything to do with awards so I think my dogs legal name is chimp.
Midori as a dog name would go crazy ngl Chess options: ruy lopez, Sicilian dragon (nickname: silly), enpassant, castle (long castle for a dachshund), icbm
this gamemode is so much fun, it's cool to see that even as a VERY beginner player, there are some shortcuts I find that take you ages to find, and some that I completely missed. I've only played the first 2 of the current week but I'm absolutely loving it
Gambit would be a good dog name. It really fits with the Queen's Gambit, which also fits with the fact you're naming something for her and her hobby, her being the queen in that sense, so the dog would be the Queen's Gambit.
17:44 My family’s current dog is a Terrier-Dachshund named Murphy, because he looks like a freshly poured Murphy’s beer (black with golden patches) Our dog before that (rip) was a labrador-golden retriever-German pointer-maybe also german shepard mix-it-all that was called Guinness, because he looked like a freshly poured Guinness stout (black with golden swirls) I think there’s a theme 😂
24:40 My biggest problem with the current COTD meta (and just about every community map/campaign) is that releasing acceleration is not a mechanic that's ever used, with the exception of full Nascar maps where it's the ONLY mechanic. I'd love to see more maps where releasing is faster for one or two sections, but not the entire map. Similar to how there are maps with a single drift or an ice-slide, I'd like to see more map elements like these, where releasing to avoid a gear-up or to keep grip in a downhill is the fastest strategy.
24:00 it's crazy he didn't see that u could do the same cut from the othercheckpoint where you cut the ice ending, which is waaay more effective than cutting the dirt.
4:54 tbh I disagree with Hylis being able to build a COTD map: he built a lot of maps during TMGL Beta Season and honestly most of them looked like they were built by Zerator those were the most uncompetitive maps we've ever seen at the top level
There's a strat on the reactor map I haven't seen people using and that I'm not good enough to pull off. Small break, faceplate strat, release forward in the air then press again on faceplate, get fast zoop and 4th gear on landing
First time playing this week and damn is it crazy how good you pros are. It is only the start so idk how this will be later on in it. but im currently top 30 in maryland and only 1664 in the US. I couldnt image how much time people put when that took me an hour and a half. you just created a time sink for me :D
My current cats are Chai and Coffee. I've had a couple cats in the past, they were Mr. Bigglesworth and Elphaba. I love giving my pets nerdy-ass names.
I suppose this format works if you're the only content creator I watch but it's weird if I play the game myself or watch others because it feels like you are a week behind Either way still loving the videos and the game mode. Can't wait to see what the user made maps will look like. Crazy multipaths with shortcuts and hidden times would go crazy
I named my cat Pernelle, as a reference to the wife of Nicolas Flamel and we knew my cat was born around the begining of October as Pernelle Flamel was born the 13 of October. I find that cool
If you were still wanting feedback, I think the best video format for weekly shorts is one video at the start of each week where you do discovery, then one video at the end of the week where you show what you hunted (and any recordings of you hunting if available), plus records. I'm loving the shorts content ♥️
Question. I just started playing this game and wondering… Are any players using a steering wheel for controls? I've only tested keyboard + controller. Also, feel free to share a random game tip for a new player. Thanks :) I remember Wirtual talking something about edging, sliding, and faster times, but this went a bit over my head.
Great format. Should even work nicely if you want to do more hunting yourself offline or on stream throughout the week. By youtube logic it may be "wrong" to wait a week and miss out on the initial views, Granady's week 4 discovery is recommended to me without even being a sub of his so I see the appeal, but I hope this format sticks.
I would love to name my future dog in human names. I live in Austria, so funny names would be: Hans, Herbert, Franz, Frank, Günther, Gerald, Manfred etc. Imagine calling for them in a crowded park or on a street and people start turnkng heads and u are just there with your sausage dog!
I'm proud of myself with these, I got gold on all 5 but author on the castle one. I never slowed down, if you get it right you should be able to jump full on into the fin. I almost did but barely missed the angle
you should really do this as a weekly series i.e. week 1 do runs trying to get your best time week 2 do your best times and look back at the best times from the week prior showing your run first keep repeating every week. of course do them on the day of release
Personally I think than doing a discovery and then offline hunting while the week is still doing and then revealing the strats at the end of the week when they are revealed is the best if you are still looking for suggestions.
I dont play trackmania much but on map 5 couldn't you just do a bug slide after the first checkpoint? Cross the gap and get a crazy angle through the second checkpoint. I'm sure it's possible but I dont know how to do it
Definitely liking this format, with the attempts first and the world records at the end
Same here.
This is 100% the format for this type of video. This is so sick
No way, I've already seen it all from granady and scrapie. Their formats are much better than being a week behind.

Maybe for some reason it isn't faster? I guess you still have to drive upwards on the ice which is the main time consumer
Anyway, just low the FWO parts of the game. That's what makes Trackmania so diff from anything else
