From what the lyrics say, I’d wager to guess that paps saw visions of horror tale and became insane as he struggled between his morals and saving his friends before becoming convinced he has to do it as that future could become reality. Unfortunately, Sans doesn’t see it that way and paps now has to pay for his actions.
I mean, I was just going with the “Flowey tricked Papyrus into thinking there was an immediate famine”, but this interpretation is waaaaay cooler! I won’t say that this is now officially what the canon is, I’ll just say I love seeing different interpretations of my lyrics!❤

If he wouldn't even protect him from Frisk on a Genocide route.
If I recall correctly, the only reason Sans didn’t step in to defend Papyrus was because of his promise to Toriel that he only broke when everyone else had died and he had literally no choice but to fight.
I like to think he’d attack his brother for the sake of his job and to try and make it up to Toriel for breaking the promise

I find this really funny, because I'm pretty sure monsters don't even need food. My theory for this is that Papyrus ate some of MTT's Soul thingy whatever it's called. The ingredients is a human soul but due to the lack of humans they had to resort to other things. (In the pacifist route Mettaton says the main ingredient is a human soul.) Papyrus liked the taste of the food, so much he wondered what it would be like with a pure human soul. He started a killing spree, knowing that no human would fall down for a while. Started feasting on monsters which gained him LOVE and EXP, causing him to easily out power everyone and anyone, including Undyne. "I love that fish." He somehow all did this in a few hours, while sans was sleeping at his post. Then, the human fell. Sans greeted the human as usual and got to the lamp, but no-one came. sans, confused by this left, to search for his brother around snowdin, but he was nowhere to be seen. Except... Dust. Dust was scattered all over Snowdin, with spears lodged into doors and walls, tridents thrown. Even vines. Something went terribly wrong here. What scared him the most is that there were bones. sans scattered around to find the human, but there were gone. He went to Papyrus' post to search for him to make sure he was safe, but he was gone. All that remained at his post was blood, flesh and blue bones sticking out of the ground. 1:55 "Not hard to put together two and two. Their flesh, blue..." sans knew what had happened, and knew what he had to do. He went home, expecting his brother to be there, and there he was. Standing infront of him at the door, holding Frisk's head.
This was genuinely one of the best interpretations and headcanons I’ve seen so far! I love how you pointed out how monsters don’t need to eat actual food that humans eat (A fact that may have slipped my mind), but you also incorporated my art AND lyrics in a very well written paragraph!

@@ClonerYT999 right to base it off ur "canon" ig, papyrus was walking through snowdin town preparing one of his puzzles by the bridge, until he saw something in the distance, a talking flower. he greeted the flower and asked what he was doing in such a place, but the flower cried and yelled for help, telling papyrus that the entire underground will run out of food, and the next human who falls will be the key to ending it! papyrus shocked about what he heard, first confused and in disbelief went with the flowers word, he and the flower started to prepare. the flower started acting friendly to papyrus, almost like he was his friend, papyrus happy to have a friend listened to everything his #1 best friend said, and that was kill EVERYONE, so the human could be defeated. papyrus pleaded with his life, begging the flower to stop, but the flower wouldnt, he told him that if he didnt, all of his good friends will die, and told him not too tell sans, because he wouldnt believe him! papyrus, wracked with emotions followed the flowers orders, but soon the guilt went away, killing and feasting on the people who lived in snowdin until he had enough level to take out undyne. the flower had told him that if he could beat undyne, he would easily be able to beat the human! papyrus declined, as he didnt want to hurt anyone else, but the flower revealed his true intentions, if he didnt kill undyne, he'd do it himself and kill him too. and if papyrus didnt kill the human, the human would kill him anyway. and then undyne appeared from the shadows, pleading papyrus to stop the massacre, telling him that he needs to go to the king for redemption, and how she doesnt wish to fight, but he knew what he had to do. she didnt stand a chance. poor poor papyrus wracked with guilt used all the souls to make the best dish of all time, that could feed the rest of the underground. was all of this necessary? then, he heard that a human had fallen into the underground, the flower was right. he knew what he had to do and placed a trap at snowdins enterance that would surely kill the human, he went to hotlands and killed alphys, he took mettaton and flowey told mettaton that if he didnt help, he'd have no-one to watch his show! mettaton being mettaton, agreed and made a plan (this would be where prey starts) the human walking across the bridge would then see mettaton, and mettaton would chase the human down, mid way through the song, mettaton would fall back and papyrus would block the way at the end of the bridge with flowey, "going somewhere human?" he got on his skateboard and chased the human in the other direction, causing the human to fall back, then soon papyrus fell back, and his plan was in order... the human turned around in confusion wondering where papyrus went, then turned and was face to face with the human eradication robot. papyrus dragged the human back to his post and gutted the human of its soul to create the ultimate meal, that would satisfy the entire underground! that was until... sans.

Love how you incorporated Prey into everything, however you missed one key fact: The original maker of the song cover labelled this as Act or Flee 2! This is because the original Act or Flee was a Fight or Flight cover with Papyrus facing the human, so just throwing in a bit extra sentences saying that the wounded human limped back to snowdin only to be stopped by Papyrus and face off once more, only to lose would make this PERFECT! Great job on everything else!

I find it interesting that sans dodges the question when trousle asks when the last time was that he had a proper meal, thus meaning there might be a slight truth to trousle's words however sans is lying about it because this is clearly not the way to go about it.
While there’s a “slight truth” to Trousle’s words, it wasn’t thought of during the writing process. The slight truth is that, as a skeleton, sans doesn’t eat meals. But there isn’t a food shortage or anything, Trousle’s just been tricked into thinking that there is one. Sans infers his question as a remark to his ketchup and fast food diet

I have my own story for Trousle, idk if anyone has already thought of this idea but here goes lmao
So basically, it takes place in Snowdin. Sans is at Grillby's doing what he usually does, telling jokes and.. Continuing not to pay his tab. Frisk reaches the electricity maze room, and Papyrus stands on the other side of the maze to introduce it to Frisk. After Papyrus finishes the introduction and gives the orb to Frisk, Frisk suddenly trips mid-way through the maze and falls right into the electrical spots, causing it to malfunction and completely paralyze Frisk, leaving them completely unconscious. Frisk's soul floats out of their body, and cracks into pieces. The electricity maze stops working, and Papyrus out of curiosity picks up the pieces of Frisk's shattered soul. Strangely, he decides to eat what's left of the soul. Papyrus finds the flavor extremely delicious, and something inside of him begins to develop a hunger for human souls, and humans themselves. Papyrus picks up Frisk's corpse, takes it home, and that's how we get all the way to here...
Interesting interpretation which would be great to expand upon, if not for some holes.
1. Why is sans at Grillby’s? He and Papyrus always accompany each other during puzzles
2. I have kept it consistent that Papyrus captures the human during a cutscene, rendering them unable to reset, so this doesn’t work as it implies that the death occurred during gameplay
3. The electricity maze doesn’t injure the human in canon. It simply serves to imply where walls are
4. If a monster touches a human soul, the soul is absorbed instantly. Papyrus couldn’t’ve eaten it
Everything else is very well written!

AU, nothing too edgy papyrus just read up on what humans are to know his enemy and optimally kills one and knows from TV they taste good in food.
AKA he is good at his job and does what he loves.
Add in the fact he reads about humans needing different nutrients and thinks that they need healthy balanced meals, let alone one of the best things a monster can eat being human souls.

In my canon, you play as the human until you get to the Snowdin blizzard, where Trousle captures you in a cutscene. Because it was a battle and not a cutscene, the human cannot reset until the cutscene finishes. Act or Flee takes place during the same cutscene, so the human is just chilling as a corpse until the end

On a neutral or genocide run, yeah, but this song is a sequel of a fight or flight cover between Trousel and the human, so I went with the pacifist route for this. And in terms of reloading, in my fun imagination Trousel captured and killed them in a cinematic after their song, not a battle. This means that even if the human reloaded the result is still the same
