Great short film...as a one time avid/amateur racer this reminded me of my dog Buddy who was a great trail dog. He would pick the smoothest lines and could go for hours. One day Buddy and I went on a group ride and a snarky local pro said if the dog went missing we weren't going to look or wait for him. Buddy promptly went over to his team issued bike and peed on the front tire to the amusement of the group. It was a monster six hour day on the trail. Buddy led the way, slowed only to drink from rivers and quickly made his way to the front. By days end...that local pro had been humbled and couldn't believe the stamina Buddy had. Buddy did eventually slow...and is no longer with us...but now is hopefully and happily running the trails of the good Lords kingdom.
Used to love riding my bike with my dogs. Be careful, Dogs don't always know when to rest. i heard a really sad story of a guy who's dog passed unexpectedly early. When the Vet did an autopsy they said the dog passed from working too hard for too long, ie : extended bike rides at a pace too fast for the dogs to sustain. There were days when I injured my dogs cuz i was riding too fast and they were trying to keep up. Luckily for me and them a limp for a couple days went away and they are fine. Now when i ride with them, its for them, not both of us, slower pace and not very exciting for me, but its for them.
this!! i was thinking about that when i was watching the video. dogs are just gonna give all they have to keep up with you without seeing what they do to them self.
perfect, good to see people taking themselves back for their dogs. oli is supercareful with Balu. They usually do 2-3 runs together, then Balu goes to sleep and Oli keeps on training & goes much faster without the dog.
Makes me tear up everytime I watch it. I lost my Dog a few years back and still miss him like it was yesterday, the day i hugged him the last time before he got to run in dog heaven. This video reminds me so much of all the good times I had with him. Thanks for sharing this.
This was me and my Lab Teddy until he reached 8 years and his elbows started getting stiff, so I started trail running with him and at 12 years old he's still racing me up and down the trails. The best times we could ever have together!
40 something year old female here. I used to do this all the time in my late teens with my German Shepherd "Baron". And no, I never ran her over. You learn to communicate with each other so that doesn't happen. Thanks for bringing back some great memories!!!
Awesome video. I ran long distances all my life, but in 2004 I had an accident that left me on a wheelchair for 14 months and the need for 10 surgeries throughout 7 years. I suffer from chronic pain and can't even walk half a mile without ending up suffering pain afterwards; but I love to see these videos and see how others enjoy outdoors activities with their dogs. People who can do these things and stay at home on a couch, acting as if they would be the ones who had an accident, are letting the best of life pass them by.
So sorry, Carl. We've lost two of our three adventure boys since May. One to old age and the other to cancer. They, literally, had thousands of trail, bike, and river miles behind them. The pain is real and deep but, oh, those sweet memories....
Lost my German Shepherd, “Hector” 🐺 a year and half ago. Wish I could have taught him to MTB with me. This was an awesome and inspiring video. Best MTB/dog video I’ve ever seen. Brought me to tears and brought back fond memories of my best friend. Thank you for making and sharing this video!!!
Reminds me of Oscar. I spent nearly all my time as a kid riding motorcycles along trails just like this. Crazy dog would go ape shit crazy to get the chance to run along with me. I mean miles and miles of running. Start my bike and no matter where he was, he would come a running knowing we were going on an adventure. Dogs really are like no other creature on this earth. They’re a special kind of friend.
I lost my best friend, riding buddy pup 2 years ago at 10yo. He loved ripping up the trails, taking a break, listening to me talk and sleeping when we got back home. He would jump up if I said “bike?” and was ready to go. Taught me a lot about being in the moment.
I'm crying with sheer joy and feeling like a fool... And then I read the comments and realize I;m not alone. You guys have nailed it. Keep up the amazing work. :)
I have an Australian Shepard that loves riding trails. She runs in front, sticks to the trail, wont go too far ahead and we come to a fork, she waits to see what direction we go. She just loves to go on bike rides
Wow, thanks sid! Thats great to hear as it was only me and the rider Oli on this. Never thought it would turn in such a nice piece, but I'm very happy with it now :)
After seeing your film my wife went and surprised me with a puppy, and yes it’s an Aussie. He’s called Charley and he’s my new best friend. Just another 7 months and he will be hitting the trails with me anyway thanks for the inspirational film👍👍💪👊
I had to watch again. All I could think of as Balu roosted the berms and hucked himself over the rocks, "Man, that dog is a world class shredder". Great partnership and stellar video. Absolutely highest quality!!!
beautiful dog, I,ve lost mine due to sickness from which he could not recover, a Nova Duck Tolling Retriever , named Pelle, so cherish the time you spent with the dog, a mate for life
Oh my god... It's so beautiful! I love it! Now I go outside with my dog to ride some trails! This video touches me so much! Thanks for that! I love it so much! Just had to cry really, it is soo beautiful! Please make a movie out of this beautiful video! I would watch it a thausand times! Thanks for this video! It's so wonderfull! thanks

How is this video from 2018 and it is on my (and many other's) feed? Well, I'm happy I clicked the video. So beautiful camera work, sweet doggo and like a mini documentary. Made me smile 😊❤
Thank you Maria :) Its because we launched part 2 a couple weeks ago and that led to many people also watching part 1 ...thats why it ended up in recommonations. But we are not complaining :)

Why did this video just pop up for everyone? Absolutely beautiful! Ill never understand how dogs adapted to live with humans, and give so much love. My little Chihuahua is falling asleep in my lap as i type this.

This brings tears to my eyes because it reminds me what I loved to do with my furry friend Spike, to be in nature, just two of us in the woods....but he is gone now, earlier than it should be, earlier than I could have imagine, and I had to be the one who said last word to put him asleep to get him from pain. I miss you Spike, miss you so much...every single day and it gets harder and harder to be alone again...there will be no other like you.

So sorry to hear that, its the worst thing to loose them way too soon...I'm glad if this video helps a bit! :)
Look at that head angle, that dog has an amazing race geometry.
true, Balu is an incredible trail dog!
No
That is not geometry.
Thats called cheating.
I would like to put up a chicken wire fence across those corners to stop that dog from cheating.

A year old video but seems like just recently youtube's algorithm decided to work it's magic for many of us. And I'm happy that it did!
There's a second video posted just two weeks back
Ditto to your comment! Amazing video

I lost my canine running companion Barley just last June and I miss him so, so much.
Thank you for triggering some great memories and some tears.

Sorry to hear it. I feel you...lost my guy over a year ago now and I still miss him. Theres a part 2 if your up for more!
The most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Friendship in it's purest form!
I lost my faithful lab in 2013. I still miss her. So glad to see you are enjoying every moment with such a true companion. Thanks for sharing.
So sorry Jay! I know how that feels, I couldn't say my pups name for 4 years without bursting into tears.
You have fox suspension and your dog has dog suspension

Every Mountain Biker’s dream.
At least of some mountain bikers. Definitely mine :)
Not lost on me is how good of a rider that guy is. Phenomenal riding!
Can't find the words... just... wonderful!
One of my favorite scenes is watching dogs go mental when they gets to the beach. Pure unadulterated happiness-i wanna feel that.
I have an Australian Shepard that loves riding trails. She runs in front, sticks to the trail, wont go too far ahead and we come to a fork, she waits to see what direction we go. She just loves to go on bike rides
