@@jesusmtz29 Each to their own, but speaking from the tennis community at large, his amazing defensive play - his ability to return the unreturnable. His athleticism, crazy pace on winners, unorthodox shot making, his personality on-court/sportsmanship - clearly respected by his peers, the fact that he is one of the older players on tour and is the midst of a comeback. He is a showman with the skills to back it up.
These old guards may be close to the end of their careers but they're still making one last stand. Monfils is one of those in that incredible generation of players.
It's amazing he's been playing for 20 years and can still play this well. I've watched Gael play since he first came on the tour, and everyone always enjoyed watching him play.
THANK YOU! Also, I hate how often they show double faults as highlights. 100 seconds of highlights in a 180 second video... Always great to see Monfils, hope he can get far this year.
Ikr?! Highlights are short enough already for best of 5 set match then they show walkouts, sometimes coin toss, that takes time away from showing actual highlights of the match. Hopefully like some of the other majors the extended highlights come out shortly after
I remember the RG highlights being terrible last year so I don't have high hopes. But maybe they will get a little better in later rounds. (While still spoiling every winner in the thumbnail.)
Never thought I’d live to see a version of RG in which Gasquet, Monfils, and Rafa entered and the only one who would exit winless would be Rafa. This generation is so insane to have this many guys playing into their late 30s and still winning matches, never-mind that Novak is number 1 at 37. These guys are ridiculous!
To all Monfils' critics, his was a difficult era to win slams in!! How many slams did the other supposedly 'more serious' but joyless players win? I'd watch him anyday over emotionless robots like Agut, Berdych, Nishikori, etc. Monfils made top ten ATP for many years, earned tens of millions of dollars, enjoys having fun on court, is one of only three players to win a title every year since he turned pro, and is happily married to a gorgeous woman. Sounds like all-round success to me. Winning slams isn't everything. Less than 0.1% of top 100 ATP players in the last 20 years won a slam. I wonder why others aren't judged so harshly.
We don't care about Grand slams when it comes to Monfils,To me Monfils is the Best Tennis Player......he has won many hearts of Tennis fans. That's very enough.
Monfils is not worried about an early FO exit because he will be back on the red clay for the Olympics in 2 months. He has a better shot at winning an Olympic metal than the FO.
Monfils is so much better dressed. That makes a difference too. The way your opponent and the audience perceives you. Great color choice and great coordination; Gael suddenly is a VERY ELEGANT player. Good luck man. It is now or never. Make the most out of your last times on court.
What....you want him to get a wild card then have his wrist fall off while playing here? Thiem is retired due to a persistent wrist injury. Injured players don't get wildcards.
J’aurais adoré qu’il gagne 1 RG. Impossible avec Nadal. Mais même une belle finale c’eût été beau! Une belle carrière cependant. Très longtemps dans le top10-top 20. C’est très respectable.
That last shot was the cherry on top
Which shot ?

Good win for monfils, seyboth wild is in form rn and we all know he has good memories on rg last year

1:23 His serve movement reminded me of Federer
I thought the same!!
His face looks like Federer too. When I watched that part I instantly thought of Federer.
@@Stu49583 yeah lol and the bandhair
I mean these aren’t even 3 minute highlights… they are less than 2! First point wasn’t until 00:20 and last point was at 02:10…

2:06 That SLAM from Monfils against his opponent was "Wild!"
He is strong, overcoming his injuries.
I just loooooove having Monfils on tour! Such a great spirit and entertainer! How can anyone not love this guy!!!
@0:40 - that's tennis/competition/sportsmanship/entertaintment at its best! :)

So true
Amazing atmosphere. The crowd all singing La Marseillaise together in a repeat of last year was beautiful 🇫🇷
Watching this on Chatrier was incredible. The energy was amazing. Gael was entertaining as always
Monfils looks ready and fired up.
Notre fils Gaël toujours en action!
Sometimes i wonder if the editors for this channel even know what tennis is
Many more wins my brother
2:04 One of the special moment
One of the best entertainers in tennis.
He usually cracks me up , he was more serious this time , and great win Monfils !
Awesome stuff from Monfils!! Lighting up the crowd as he does so well! Nice to see.
Love you Gael and very very happy that you won in 4 sets.
Special breed this is what tennis was created for ✨✨
Gael such an amazing player, been around for so long and hopefully will continue to entertain and amaze us for many more to come.
Less than 3 minutes 😮
Wow 😮
RG coverage is Foqued up !
The artiste is still banging it!
Long live Monfils.
Difficult to understand how such a good player didnt have better results in his career.
Yay!❤
Congrats Gael bravo 💯🔝 best of the best, powerful king let's go ✊💪👍🔥🎾👏🇲🇫🤝🇺🇦
he never goes that far but he always gratifies us of one or two beautiful victories before returning the weapon

Still putting only the winner in the thumbnail for every video... ever heard the term spoiler alert?
Come on now RG!
Been doing this stupid thing forever, and not only RG unfortunately… Stupidity is well spread. So annoying!

He has aged well and looks in great shape.
Awesome Gael!
The man isn't just an "entertainer" he is a spectacular player too😊❤❤❤
2:22 what on earth is up with the chair umpire POV shot?
Would love to see him in a GS final
I’m sitting at Starbucks eating breakfast right now and Monfils’ dance moves went really well with the BG music playing 😂
Still the most physically gifted player on tour and hasn’t yet foot in a Grand Slam final.
What percentage of ATP top 100 players in the last 20 years played in a slam final?
Woohoo!!!
Pure athlete and the most fun you can have on a tennis court 🥐🇫🇷
Frenchmen are on fire at Roland Garros. Riding on the crowd support.
Monsieur Gael Monfils is in the Olympus of the most entertaining tennis players in history.
Good job Monfils! Is it me or does Gael Monfils looks like he's getting younger....
This is his heyday
Hey RG, please post the entire Monfils Baez match from last year

It is like you attending a circus. I love Monfils - you get great performance and entertainment in on shot. Allez Gael!
it is to be expected from someone of his background.
He could have been among the top 10 players in history, but his mentality and volatile temperament were the enemy that prevented him.
Sure. Simon said give me Monfils' body and I'm number 1
Volatile temperament? You must not be talking about the same Monfils.

Soo seyboth cannot take out an aged tennis player?!. Nice to see the umpires view
wait the umpires are wearing gopros now!? hahahaha
Wouldn't it be amazing to see this guy finally win one? Way too early but will be watching.
