I love these older games so much, but I wish they would redo them for current computers so I don't have to fight to get it to work lol. Thank you for doing these run throughs
@@plonk9259 I totally agree and it’s just something to get used to. I felt like Nancy’s personality was different though with the new voice actress so that was a little difficult to get used to as well. I liked that Deirdre was the same though, that helped!
So this may be a hot take but: Brittany Cox (the new voice of Nancy) sounds soooo similar to Lani Minella in the early games, this one especially. I think she did a great job emulating an earlier Nancy. I just so happened to put this play through on after watching the Midnight in Salem one and their voices are practically similar back to back.
I'm replaying all the games in order, but wasn't able to get this one to work in a download form. So I guess I'll have to play this vicariously through you!
Same thing happened to me. The trick is to save all files in the same folder. You have to run 2 things: the ".exe" you get with the purchase and then a "setup" that pops up automatically. Just save all files in the same folder
I think the bomb puzzle restarts you outside the room because in the older games puzzles like that can start even if you don’t have the stuff you need to complete it. The first time I played this game I didn’t have the screwdriver and kept dying. Then I finally found the screwdriver but didn’t have the wire cutters so I’m glad it starts you back in the hallway so you can go get what you need 😅
When Michael reads the teleprompter, it reminds me of his narration for The Lady's Choice. I love it! I hope Michael does the other 2 stories for that game one day.
Thumbs up if you completed your Nancy Drew game collection by going to Goodwill and finding them in physical copies which means you basically paid only one or two dollars for all of them
Thing is, will the physical copies run on today's PCs? 🤔 I've always felt that the first five were the best of all the _Nancy Drew_ mysteries -- maybe the first ten; but I had a harder time "getting into" some of the later ones; and some of those I never played (or finished) at all. 😖
Omg. I clicked on the 2014 playthrough thinking it was going to be this one...and the audio quality has improved big time. But also omg the kiddooooooos. They're cute.
1:01:44 “Hello Rick, don’t try to leave the room, the doors rigged. Consider my first warning. Somewhere in this room is an explosive device that will blow your body to smithereens”. After that im not sure lol 😂 i heard something about todays your debut of something lol
I have a theory. What if soap operas aren’t around because RUclips, Facebook, and other social media platforms have taken over the soap opera stage, so to speak? Just a thought. On a separate note, the cut-out magazine (or mini-newspaper) probably could have been switched with the culprit’s copy when the culprit was there so as to avoid suspicion. Also, did anyone else notice that the timer spells out a message once the bomb is deactivated? You just have to rotate the display 180 degrees
@@bladeoflight12hardcorepro50 There were many instances and depictions in Hollywood and popular culture (like in comic books) of the buildings from nine-eleven getting destroyed... _years_ before it happened. It makes one think about whether it could have been pre-planned.🗓🕛⌛
"I'm not exactly sure, like, [Mattie's] mom is _a suspect,_ ... I _guess_ we could assume that her mother, who never appears, is the culprit..." Well, Rick _is_ getting those death threats _in the mail..._ I don't know how Nancy could ever hope to properly _prove_ Mrs. Jensen's involvement from _New York,_ though. That said, with how bombastic Mom's letters are and some of the stuff around Mattie, I can see forming a fairly reasonable hypothesis that Mrs. Jensen was some sort of mastermind who sent threats and also put Mattie up to do a thing or two in-person to enhance the sense of danger in ways that Mommy Dearest couldn't from out-of-town, or, perhaps a bit more likely, that she finally _got through_ to Mattie and more or less accidentally convinced her to take revenge on Rick for stealing "her" rightful place in the spotlight. I could see that idea holding for a little while, depending on what clues you find when. Also, personally, I don't think "they" have Millie Strathorn "hiding" in the Prop Room at all. I think she's just a slightly kooky old lady who gets a kick out of playing Prop Master and using pretending to be bound by company regulations as an excuse to subject people to silly "tests". She's a nut, but she's still the founder, so as long as she's not a _serious_ impediment to getting work done, they just let her claim whatever job she wants.
My sister, although she isn't much for adventure games just _loves_ Millie's character in this one! 🥰 We had a great aunt by the same name whom she thought a lot of; and her sweet, lilting, "It's _o - pennnnn!"_ I guess just really brought some memories back. ☺
1:01:45 - There's a clue somewhere in the game that reveals the correct order in which to cut those colored wires, in the "tape player" puzzle... I believe it's in Lillian's office, IIRC. But I'm not sure if you can get in there before the bomb threat in Rick's dressing room gets defused, so ... 🤷♀
It's in the script in Mattie's dressing room. Serena's parts were highlighted in yellow, red and blue, with a coffee stain of page three to indicate orange. Unfortunately he overlooked that this time.
“Hello Rick, don’t try running away. Don’t run. Didn’t you get my first one? Somewhere in this room is an explosive device that will blow your body to smithereens…maybe all the way to Hollywood! Too bad your debut out there will be-“
No Michael I’m pretty sure that’s supposed to be a laptop I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure sure it’s supposed to be a laptop this game as far as I recall this game came out in like 1999 which was the year I was born and the Nintendo DS wasn’t released until 2004
The Roman numeral for four is wrong. It's shown on the clock as "IIII" . In real life it is "IV". I don't have a reason for pointing this out beyond that Waverly taught it to me and it bugs me.
I'm really late on this but I discovered steam the gaming platform actually has a lot of the Nancy drew games I'm not sure if it has all of them Obviously doesn't have ransom of the 7 ships But it does have a lot of the games Edit: my mom loves this Soap opera I think it's Called days of our lives All I really remember is this little scene that plays with a guy saying like sand through the Hour glass so are the days of our lives and my mom has been watching it I think even better I was born
Aww, it was cute to hear Rosie in the background! It reminds me of your very first mega-marathon and hearing Mary in the background. How time flies!
arglefumph nancy drew megamarathon is THE best time of year hands down
I love these older games so much, but I wish they would redo them for current computers so I don't have to fight to get it to work lol. Thank you for doing these run throughs
As much as I would love to see Remasters of the older games, they wouldn't have Lani.
No ones voice is like Lani’s!! The new Nancy drew voice doesn’t give the same personality
@@rachelp8183 to be fair though she did only voice one game. She probably would get better over time as they got more confident.
@@plonk9259 I totally agree and it’s just something to get used to. I felt like Nancy’s personality was different though with the new voice actress so that was a little difficult to get used to as well. I liked that Deirdre was the same though, that helped!
I never played this game but listening to the Ned and Nancy interactions makes me miss it. They say I love you and I miss you!

Update to windows 11 and try it. Worked first time for me
This game is turning 25 this year! Do a 25th anniversary playthrough!!
the eyebrow movements in this game are insane, I can't stop staring
That's why they said Rick is hot.
Orange? NOT ORANGE! I couldn’t stop laughing at that
I don't know why you're talking to George
Your commentary is the best 😂 Please don’t stop making videos!!

The only ones I haven't played are the first two, but I have seen vids and the lobby music in this one always calms me down
So basically Lillian gets away with nearly poisoning Rick Arlin
When Michael reads the teleprompter, it reminds me of his narration for The Lady's Choice. I love it! I hope Michael does the other 2 stories for that game one day.
I love this game! I hope they remaster it one day like they did with Secrets and Kill. One can only hope!

You wanted to ask Lillian about something? You're off the case!
I'm not off the case I'm Nancy
Hi Julian
I don't care we're going to the chiropractor no not going there
Omg. I clicked on the 2014 playthrough thinking it was going to be this one...and the audio quality has improved big time. But also omg the kiddooooooos. They're cute.
Watching this now after the release of KEY yesterday and tbh I think STFD is so much more charismatic and fun to play.
I really like you Michael. 😊
The scene with the live shoot has more npcs than any other ND game before midnight in Salem
I'm a little late to your 2022 mega marathon but nonetheless I'm so excited! :)
shrodingers drew: for every wire nancy disarms on the bomb, three other nancy's in paralell universes fail and are blown up
That’s crazy… I remember when your oldest was your youngest daughters age 😂

I think it's, "too bad you're dead already." Or something like that. I died so many times playing this as a kid it's burned into my memory 😂
The child was cute to hear from. Reminds me of me when I played Nancy Drew with my sister
Always love watching your streams :)
Also your daughter is SO CUTEEE
"Join me next time in the thrilling case, Mystery of the Missing Mustache!"
Love the narrative, cheers mate.
I think they restart you outside of the room so you can get the screw driver if you don't have it.
It’s the unblinking eyes for me
I love a great mystery.
your daughter is so adorable ;w;
Why are there not more comments????!?

My first game 😊❤
Anyone notice how this is set in New York and Owen Spayder’s hire date said September 11? This was made in 1999 but STILL coincidence or nah
Please I need help I don't understand.

Anybody know what happened to the stream last night? Was waiting for the building to explode and all of a sudden it said it was a private video?
Stream ended and he private the video before he put it up now

In some old clocks they used it as IIII IRL and I believe not only clocks did that. I'm a year late but so what😂😂
Dwayne powers is a lex Luthor level villain

I think Bold & the Beautiful and Young & the Restless are still going, too, but I could wrong. Haven't watched them in years cuz I lost interest.
57:23 57:32 😂😂😂😂
"Voice Talent ... Roger _Jensen_ as Owen W. Spayder"... Did "Owen" actually have any lines?? 🤔 And is he any relation to _Mattie_ Jensen? 😊 Lol.
You can talk to Millie again.
Maybe they just didn't like Rick's terrible acting lol
NO
Lillian is a Karen
Can you stop scream/screach? Your voice is much louder than the game audio. Calm down. Sheesh..
