- Total Serum Proteins (Plasma Proteins) include Albumin & Globulins (Alpha, Beta & Gamma). Albumin maintains the plasma oncotic (osmotic or colloidal) pressure to prevent edema formation. The coagulation factors are beta globulins whereas the antibodies (immunoglobulins) are gamma globulins.

Serum albumin is a little low in electrophoresis, but it is always normal in serum, also Alpha 1 is at the upper limit, Alpha 2 is normal and Beta 1 is very high. Beta 2 is normal and Gamma zone is at the upper limit and I have Iron deficiency. Aptt is low and FLC is negative by immunofixation. What do you attribute the high Beta 1 to? And to what do you attribute the gamma region to be at the upper limit?
