I’m surprised this didn’t violate some unwritten rule 😂 “well when a veteran hits a ball deep and it’s passed the 8th inning of a tie game and the vet is two years older than we think he is, then you gotta let the ball fly out of the yard”
@@laseojames I’m sure he got a nice “talking to” after the game was over though. This is forty-thre, I mean forty-one year old Albert Pujols were talking about here
Something amazing that you can't tell from this breakdown is how loud it was when Pujols hit it, and how quiet it became after Tauchman made the catch. The air was sucked out of the stadium.
It's true. When you're seeing Pujols up to bat in that situation, you're already thinking it, but when you hear that pop... the catch was like crossing over into a dream
I was angry too. Especially with Dubon. Tauchman is cool and I like him but he needs to start hitting. Hopefully he starts figuring out these NL pitchers soon.
@Zenox he’s never been a hitter but he puts up some amazing at bats and actually leads the mlb in pitched per at bat which is crucial for a team when they need to get that pitcher tired
@@julian8132 I’d rather he get some base hits with runners on than work into deep counts with nothing to show for it. Dude lost .100 points in his batting avg in May.
@Cactus Juice doesnt need to what? hit above 200? pretty sure you do. Unless you're a pitcher or catcher, batting below 200 wont give you much of a career. Just because he made a good catch doesnt mean he should just bat 190 for the seaosn lol
@@kavansamant6871 i was very young at the time, and did actually go to a couple games during that stretch, but couldn’t really get into sports at that point because I was so young
As an Angels fan who will never understand why they allowed Pujols to leave, and the son of a Giants fan who grew up watching the Say Hey Kid make fantastic catches, this made me quite happy.
You are late to this one, and it was a wild finish to the game. I was watching it live and just another amazing baseball game. You see something new everytime you watch a baseball game. The greatest game on earth.
This is actually Tauchman's *second* home-run-robbing catch...and you've featured the first one previously. It was the bit at the end of the video where the Orioles' left-fielder gets plonked on the head by the fly ball. Man oh MAN did that catch turn things around for the Giants! We held on to win that game, then took the last two in the series after being swept by the Dodgers the previous weekend and losing the first game of this series.
Sometimes you see these replays and you could tell that the ball was actually going to hit the wall but this time dude legit robbed a walk off home run, great catch!
Tauchman put everything he had into that catch. He stopped an all-time record from an all-time great from being set. He was just too exhausted to do anything else, so he had to leave his leg in the air. There was no other way.
Played ball as a kid. Catcher. Was pretty good picked for travel league and eventually played where the rochester red wings play for championship. One of my highlights as a player. Good days. Anyways-you're half the reason I'm back into baseball-Bauer. Love the clips man good shit!
I miss Tauchman dearly, but seeing him make other fans happy with this steal while having more play time makes me smile. Treat him well, San Francisco.
Yeah I was there that night and I was one of those fans celebrating the HR...which I later found was actually robbed. Seriously one of the most exciting and heartbreaking baseball moments I’ve ever experienced!
The pats on the head mean 'getting dunked on' - like the 3-run blast was the opposing pitcher or team getting dunked on (or the Dodgers dunking on their opponents).
You should cover the Kim and Pham collision during the 3rd game of the Padres at Cubs 3 game series. It was a weird double play that is very worthy of breaking down. There was also dugout commotion.
This same scenario happened in Detroit a couple days ago with Mariners OF Jake Fraley robbing a walk off HR. M's announcer got so excited his voice cracked while yelling Fraley's name
Pujols hit that with all arms strength. Look at his stride from the pitch he as fooled on the ball speed but hit that a long way being out of timing. The moving head at the beginning was awesome! Maybe have it go all the way around. Like up the sides and do a lap. Great stuff as always jomboy!

Ok
Do not remind me that Tuchman got traded
Not only did the giants rob Albert of a homerun, but they also allowed him to be on second to start the 10th inning. True insult to injury.
