      Firstly, the money they spend is from donations. Secondly, they all leave office with millions and millions of dollars (gained illegally by the way). They do not spend their own money. Unless of course they have millions to throw away. And lastly, it's not about the money, it's about the POWER!

      Wasn't our government and economy a tiny fraction of what it is today? Not saying I disagree, but comparing how something worked 150 plus years ago before tech advancement, population growth, increasingly scaled up wars etc, doesnt hold much water.
      Example...we have fewer navy ships than in ww2, but our capabilities are way more with fewer ships. We dont have thousands of cavalry on horseback doesnt mean it worked better than the present day

    • @paulmonteleone7149
      @paulmonteleone7149 5 лет назад

      Plus, tariffs aren't paid to us by another country, our citizens who consume foreign products absorb the tariff at the point of sale. Tariffs aren't a tax other nations pay, the domestic consumer pays which makes foreign goods less attractive in theory, thus driving demand for domestic goods. Except nowadays american consumers er rs only care about the cheapest product possible not the quality or the effect it will have on their own nation.

    I love Jesse and I’m not a fan of Income tax but if we switched to a consumption tax we would have a banking crisis. It would provide incentives not to consume and companies would default loans and fire employees

    @TheEsotericDesi Income Tax does not pay to run the nation. It goes directly to the interest on the national debt and likewise for the states. We run our country on other constitutionally levied taxes.

      Exactly. This was accomplished back in the 50's, 60's, 70's by having a very high top marginal tax rate. The top rate was 91% in the 50's when Eisenhower was president. It worked VERY effectively in creating a large middle class and a thriving economy. Since the 80's, we've have had a relatively low top marginal tax rates and guess what? We are now 22 trillion in debt and the wealth of the nation is highly concentrated at the top. A small group of large corporations and billionaires basically run the country by controlling the government and the media. Greed is killing this country

    • @rodsmolter5046

      @@robinsss Why the hell not? They are the one's who are profiting the most from the system so they should pay the most back in. If they can give millions upon millions to political campaigns so that they can own and control the government, then they can damn sure pay more taxes. The country is 22 trillion in debt fro Chrisakes! Look at what the top marginal rates were back in 50's and 60's, much higher than today. It's what built this nation and created what used to be the world's largest middle class. What really matters is how we spend it. Do we spend it on things that actually benefit the US citizens or do we waste it on endless, unnecessary warfare?

    I think any politician that gets elected should have their wealth in trust for the length of their time on office and when they leave office they should have a vote of confidence in the politician's time in office and the percent of the confidence vote they get is what they get back.

    Why haven’t we done a required audit of Fort Knox in over 40yrs? I know why, the government spent it all and don’t want us to know because we would over throw them
