For many years I've heard about Hmong coming from Minnesota to fish for white bass in devils lake specifically. Is there a specific reason for that fish being so popular in that community? I suppose if nothing else its a good size and good eating fish with a 20 fish daily limit so makes a lot of sense to catch a bunch.
I believe it’s mainly because white bass is a tasty fish and can be prepped and cooked in many Asian cooking style and dishes. They are good deep fried, soup, steamed, and much more. They’re also very popular in the Asian community because they’re very fun and easy to catch. All ages from kids to elders can easily catch a limit providing a great time for the whole family. I don’t eat fish much and always give my fish away to others, I definitely target them for the action and fight they give on a rod!
Nice to see DL still producing good size white bass.
