  • Hello everyone! Today I take a page out of the scientists handbook and I ask the modder Xen to make a mod that allows me to see the full scale of the solar system! All lined up in a row is every planetary body. Every spaceship. Every probe. For us to compare and look at next to each other! I hope you all find this as genuinely cool as I did!

    You also have to consider that giants deep and the quantum moon both have atmospheres so it's not the true size of them, strip that away, and you have the genuine size of the bodies, much like getting rid of the sand from ash twin. Also the true size of dark bramble's planet, there's a few things to modify to try to find the true size but for the sake of this video the size comparison with all the extras makes it much easier to compare them.

    Imagine if someone created a mod that recreated the solar system as it looked when the owlks first arrived.
    Examples of changes:
    • all nomai structures removed
    • 5th planet is no longer inhabited by the bramble and is not fully frozen yet [Mainly frozen like in the reels though]
    • the stranger is visible and the interior is restored
    • ember twin and ash twin [2 ways it could go:
    - embertwin has water in it and the caves haven't been fully eroded, the sand would be coming in from ashtwin which would slowly lift the water, sumerging the planet. The twins orbits are slightly further from the sun then they are now which is why it is able to support water.
    - ash twin and ember twin are one.
    I would defenantly prefer option 1 but if you have any ideas for option 2 please reply below]
    • brittle hollow can have those weird crystals found on the quantum moon version of it and the black hole can be smaller. The inside would be smaller as well since the black hole hasn't eaten away much of it.
    • Giants deep could be hotter as it is in a closer orbit, it's clouds aren't fully formed and there are many more tornadoes. The islands are one, but they break apart overtime. Because there is less cloud the water level would be higher too!
    • timber hearth...

    I noticed something interesting about the eye signal jammer. In the slideshow, it seems that its four "antlers"
    have been folded up. There's the body in the center and then these stick-like things on its sides. When in space, these antlers are unfolded to form a claw-looking shape. So the antlers were designed to be foldable during the jammer's launch, much like the james webb space telescope's mirror. The size of the jammer seemed ridiculous to me because in the slide show, it's not much taller than an inhabitant, but then I realized it was folded in the slide show and the size makes much more sense.

    im surprised the ringed gas giant is actually a full 3d model, i expected it to be a 2d image or maybe a half sphere, the fact that it actually has a full model is pretty cool
    also learning that the anglerfish are the same size as the attlerock is just yet another reason to fear these things, i knew they were big but I always thought they were just slightly bigger than the spaceship. I guess I always assumed the skeleton in ember twin was a fully grown one or something. Hopefully that baby in the museum doesn't grow up too fast

    I need to say it because it has been in my mind for so long. but if another dlc comes to the outer wilds it will probably have to do with the dark bramble. We know that pretty much the only thing in the base game which was answered by the echoes of the eye was the eye not giving a signal anymore. And most of the other questions have already been solved in the base game. But there is one more thing that came to my mind which wasnt solved in the base game. We all know that a seed flew at high velocity at the sixth planet and then grew until it became the dark bramble we know and hate but there is a few more questions about dark bramble...
    1. Why does it bend the laws of phyics (has it got to do something with the eye or perhaps something similar, something like the eye but not quantum)
    2. When did the bramble start spreading (we saw in the strangers paintings that the dark bramble didnt start spreading but when the nomai came the bramble was already large and multidimensional)
    3. Where did it come from and is there more of it (maybe it came from some other solar system or maybe just maybe, it might have come from another dimension since it is really bendy and weird, maybe its properties are normal in another dimension)
    4. Is it from our universe or is it a remaining thing of the last universe
    5. was it sent here intentionally or was it random
    If there was a new dlc it might answer all these questions and maybe even tackle another kind of storytelling, the nomai had writing, the strangers had pictures, maybe there could be new aliens who use sound and you need to hear where they are maybe just from the sounds of the path they are walking on and you hear something like an echo from a cave or something like that. we could find a new location with new aliens maybe, as i said before, either some other remaining planet or structure from the last universe. Maybe we would have to find a living nomai clan which helps us warp to a special solar system. Maybe we have to teleport to other coordinates (which i doubt because it should probably be accesible in an easier way than literally going to the nomai vessel with a warp core which is the last thing you do in the base game) We could also have to do something with the nomai shuttle, like launch at an exact angle and then we fly through a portal or something.
    I would greatly apreciate if @The Lore Explorer read this and maybe did a video on it with his own theories.
    THANK YOU FOR READING
    (sorry for my poor english but i am austrian so i speak german normally)
    (also: i just now noticed: why didnt the sun station work, was the sun protected by some other aliens because the sun station was the only thing the nomai created which didnt work)
    (also: where did the interloper come from)
    when i write "(also: ... ) thats an edit and it could also be some question that the dlc solves and the dlc could revovle around that

I dont have enough time to dedicate as much care to reading the comments as Id like. I do see what youre saying. But the reels arent recordings though bud. They are artist depictions. Look at the first few slides of the first reel zoomed out phase. When it shows both systems. Giants deep and the ringed planet look matched up well. And their moon is on scale with timber hearth or even a smaller planet. But then when the stranger comes to our system. The stranger matches up well with giants deep. And is a lot larger than the smaller planets the moon matches up with. So again. I dont really think its a good way to judge it.

      @@TheLoreExplorer No worries! Rereading my original comment I definitely was pretty vague... It was not well structured, thank you for taking the time to read regardless!
      You're not wrong, anything depicted in the slide reels should be taken with a grain of salt... but to me it always felt clear when they were being literal or not.
      The reel that depicts the stranger travelling to the hearthian system had to be exaggerated because including the hearthian system and the stranger system in the same photo is impossible to represent accurately without them appearing smaller than a pixel.
      Likewise, I see no reason art depicting their home planet and the ringed one to be innacurate. Its their most treasured memory after all.
      But at the end of the day you are right, this will always be interpreted information and never straight facts.. Unforunate then.

    lil observation concernin the size of the ringed planet; there is evidence of a day-night cycle in the simulation, and said cycle is notably quite long. in the time it takes for the hints of a sunrise to show up on the horizon, an entire loop passes. considerably slower rotation than planets in the outer wilds system
    also, if we assume that the simulation was made accurate to the real deal, we can also assume that the homeworld is quite large based on the size of the many areas it's made up of, and the fact that there's clearly meant to seem like there's more out there beyond our reach
    i might even go so far as to say that the size of celestial bodies in the owlk's system may be closer to the scale shown in kerbal space program than the scale shown in the outer wilds system

    • @TheLoreExplorer
      @TheLoreExplorer  2 года назад +2

      Well. Its a moon around a gas giant. Its likely tidally locked to its home planet. Like the moon is to ours. So the day night cycle would be closer to a month instead of a day. As it would only rotate fully once(in reference to the sun) it orbited its home planet. Im not sure you can use such things as measurement of scale either. But its a good thought.

    • @juneBug412
      @juneBug412 2 года назад +2

    • @TheLoreExplorer
      @TheLoreExplorer  2 года назад

      All i said was "the docking bay isnt that small." I think its literally one of the largest single rooms they have on the ship. Pretty big compared to most other buildings and spaces within the stranger. Wasnt really speaking to anything else. I think youre probably right AJ. Even folded its probably too big to fit in the docking bay. Especially standing up like they show it in the reel. Though the probe is skinner than our ship. If they laid it down and built it in two(folded up) pieces, then attached them just outside or something, then they may have been able to construct it there for the most part. But even then itd be stretching the space in one docking bay.
      But honestly, they dont have a more "tiny" room to do it in. The docking bay is the only area (aside from space) where they could have constructed it and still got it out to space. So maybe, again, the scale is off. If the probe was designed any smaller itd look realllllly tiny through the telescope at the eye. So maybe it is supposed to fit inside the docking bay. They just made it bigger so we can see it better. Cause thinking about it. Honestly where else could they build it? They dont seem to have spacesuits laying around to work in space. And anywhere else itd be trapped inside the stranger.

    • @TheLoreExplorer
      @TheLoreExplorer  2 года назад

      I suppose youre probably right. I just always think "If its something they could have depicted, but didnt. Then there is a reason". If they have spacesuits I dont understand why the devs didnt depict that. I know its something they do. They dont depict us making spaceships or anything. And they DONT always have a reason for it. But in this case it is sort of story important. Which I dont like assuming things for. There has to be something hinting at that. And in this case I suppose "itd be impossible for them to make without spacesuits" is good enough.

    I think the strangers' ringed planet is much bigger than anything in our solar system. The ringworld itself was around the size of their moon if I remember correctly, meaning the ringed planet must be MUCH bigger than the ringworld

    • @TheLoreExplorer
      @TheLoreExplorer  2 года назад

      I think you may be confused. The "Ringed World" and the "ringed planet" are the same object. Their home moon also seemed a lot smaller than the ringed planet. And in the reels the stranger was closer size to the moon. Not the planet. So im not sure the logic youre using here.

      Ahh. Alright. Even so. Those reels arent too reliable. Which is seriously frustrating. I know. But they cant be. In the first reel it shows the stranger next to the home moon. They are the same size. But in that same reel, when they zoom out to both system, the home moon is about the same size as timber hearth. So logic says the moon, stranger, and timber hearth are all the same size. Yet when the stranger comes to our system it stacks up with giants deep. Not the smaller planets. These changing sizes proves those reels arent reliable. They depict abstract truths. The scale shouldnt be taken as fact. You can see other examples like this in the reels as well.
