Excellent choice. Looking forward to hearing more about the delivery differences between the 250 and 300. Blue being my favourite colour, these look brilliant.
We were talking about that a lot on the last ride. The 250 feels like the 300s did a few years ago, I'm not surprised Jeff is happy with the 250 as it is. I reckon I would be too...
Congratulations! I think you made the right call on brands. There's really a lot of value there when you add it all up... i.e. fan, map switch, not to mention FMF Gold pipe, KYB suspension, etc. are all aftermarket "power parts" with the Euro bikes. Funny about the suspension breaking in... This is true, although I did not know that anyone else had this issue. My fork kicked me badly the first few times it encountered solid objects. It's buttery now!
Thanks, I do feel we made the right call as TM is still such a new brand here that the parts availability and support might not be 100% yet. Great to hear about the suspension, the 250 is working great now but mine is still a bit firm... but definitely loosening up.
have a 21 se 300 factory here in the US.....had it 1 year....you did not make a mistake, this machine is a billy goat it goes up everything!!!! cheers!
It's ridiculously good at hills, Mike. 😂 Obviously I've got a brand new knobby and we've already put the TUbliss in and running low air pressures. But they really feel like a turbo tractor and just hook up so well on loose snotty climbs over wet tree roots.
So glad you chose the Sherco and am looking forward to hearing your 'expert' opinions, I have a 2022 se300 Factory, the suspension did take a few rides to bed in, I softened the compression at first which made it more comfortable and then firmed it back up to standard, just love how the front stays up and doesn't dive in corners. Fantastic bike all round and great value.
That's good news, Dan. Yeah the dealer said to back off the compression a few clicks. The 250 forks have settled in nicely after three rides... mine still feel a bit too firm but apparently the next step is take 30ml of fork oil out of each leg. The forks are amazing once you ride harder. Just a bit too firm on the slow stuff still.
Been in love with my 21 SE250 Factory this last year, coming off team Orange I had reservations, but that was very short lived. My Sherco has over 100hrs and has performed flawlessly, Congrats on your purchases on your pair of Frenchy's Braaap on!
Good to hear, Pat. I figure the main thing long term is probably just servicing the starter motor before issues start which might cause problems without a kickstart?
I have 30 hours on my 2022 Sherco 300 SE and am also impressed. Previous 500 hours were on a 2017 KTM 300 XC-W which also is an excellent machine. To lighten clutch pull on Sherco I installed Midwest Engineering lever and replaced 3 clutch springs with KTM 125 springs that my dealer recommended. Springs worked great at lightening without any slip. Combination of both has clutch pull superb. Cheers!
I don’t have the part number as the local dealer ordered them in for me. They’re an awesome dealer here in Utah. Shout out to Moto Experts. I’ll give them a ring tomorrow and get a part number back to you.
I am in Darwin and purchased a 300se Factory from Sunstate in Maroochydore, excellent service and they shipped it to me. I LOVE my 300. My first 2stroke in over 15years. Come from KTM's. I LOVE my Sherco. Regis for me at 5'10 are spot on. Love your vids, keep up the excellent content 😃
Did Sunstate re jet your bike before you got it as a pre delivery? I've heard the Shercos come way too rich with the standard jetting. Most bike shops rejet them at no cost so just wondoring if Sunstate did too?
Great vid Barry, thanks for including the important but dangerous moment of driving home with the bikes on the trailer and trying not to stare in the rearview too much 😂
Yesterday I attended my first ever enduro practice (with my DRZ 😅) and I just want to thank you for the inspiration to do it. Been watching your enduro videos for a long time. Man it was hard! I also got to test ride a Gasgas 300 two stroke. First time I ride a two stroke, what a crazy difference that was in power and weight. Perhaps you've already made one, but if not, I would love a video that covers what to expect with a two stroke when it comes to maintenance. Not what it says in the manual in terms of when and what, but what to realistically expect. That would be very useful to someone who's never had any experience with two strokes and performance oriented enduros in general.
Hi Barry. I’m 6’8” I recently moved my pegs and bars closer together. And it has improved my riding instantly. I feel it may be mostly in my head that the bike feels smaller so installs more confidence.
Welcome to the Family i bought a 22 SE 300 in January i have 17hrs on it now. suspension does loosen up. I took 2 springs out of the clutch and have no problems. I am 150lbs so lighter springs are in the works for me. I ride slow techincal here on the west coast of Canada. I am happy happy so far
I did that clutch mod to my old 14 model Sherco. Went about 120 hours before I warped the clutch. #180 without gear. After that I started doing the 3 spring mod. Remove 3 stocks, install 3 ktm springs.....
Thanks! Interesting to hear about the two clutch springs, I've never tried that. I might give it a go once I'm out of warranty... if the Midwest lever doesn't lighten the clutch enough. I still haven't ridden the island, but the riding around Kamloops and up north near the Alaskan border is amazing.
@@brandonfernandez2 on my 2014 Sherco 300 2t, I removed two springs and warped the steel clutch plates. On my 19 model I swapped 3 of the springs for KTM springs. , I went 140+ plus hours before replacing the clutch plates. I don't recommend removing two, but it will work.
@@brandonfernandez2 Yes i removed 2 clutch springs from 12 oclock and 6 oclock postions. I did not use the KTM springs i have 27 hrs on it since new with no problems so far
I have the exact same bike! If you’re a lighter rider that does hard enduro, a suspension revalve makes a pretty big difference for riding. And depending on pricing, in my country the difference between the racing and factory model is about 700 euro. When you factor in just the fan kit which is essential in tight terrain, I think the factory is worth every penny.
Yes, I reckon a lighter rider would find the Factory suspension a bit stiff unless they were very agressive riders. I've done three rides now and the forks have softened quite a bit. I'd like to see them just a bit more plush.... owners are telling me I can take out 30ml of fork oil from each leg which softens things up well.
Very nice choice. I also preferred the 250 over the 300. Which was a surprise to me aswell because I always swore by the ktm 300s before. I'm on the shorter side and actually grew to like the stock bar height. Stock KTM felt like it had ape hangers afterwards. The fuel tap is in a odd spot but your chances of damaging it are very slim. Small price to pay for something you only use twice per ride in general. Actually applied for a job at Toowoomba before immigrating to Canada.
Cheers Warren. We were pretty close to running with TM but then we suddenly heard of a few mechanical issues... which wasn't too bad. But then we started hearing questions about customer support as well. Sherco is simply much better established in Australia and with a good reputation for support.
It is a beautiful bike and I'm sure can handle some rough riding. One thing that would keep me away is the no Kickstart. In my eyes a must have!!! I'd much prefer a Kickstart over an electric start. I'm fortunate to have both.
Hi, bro))) In my bike, front fork with springs 4.6, not 4.2 (as the manufacturer says in the manual). This is why a lot of people complain about a stiff fork. Compared. Visually, the Sherko springs have 2 turns more than the Yamahas, although both manufacturers claim a stiffness of 4.2)))
That's interesting! I've done three rides now and the forks have softened quite a bit. I'd like to see them just a bit more plush.... owners are telling me I can take out 30ml of fork oil from each leg which softens things up well. The current springs feel about right for someone racing or riding aggressively. But for our slow gnarly rides a softer spring would probably be good.
@@crosstrainingenduro Don't go too soft on the springs or they will be operating using the mid valve and can be quite harsh. I thought my bike was nice and plush (I was overweight for the stock springs) until I put heavier springs in. WOW, super smooth now.
@@crosstrainingenduro Lowering the oil level affects the compression ratio at the end of the fork stroke. My weight is 75kg (excluding basket of champagne and baguettes). On regular springs, the fork did not even reach such a compression))) And it was very difficult to work with the suspension on the spot.
It is fun, Darryl. Jeff is over the moon, he loves a new bike. I enjoy it too, but I'm not a fan of all the setting up.... thankfully there's not too much needed.
@@crosstrainingenduro Got to be a fair deal for everyone, it’s important! Plus we all like to have actual local dealers to go to when necessary or needed! Common sense had to prevail, unfortunately the ‘new’ internet culture is killing retail as we knew it!
Loose the bar risers. I also used to think risers would bring the bars up and easier to ride. Turns out, they bring the bars up and back, making the bike feel more cramped. With your height, try offset bar mounts, mounted forward, and roll your bars 1 mark forward (ends roll upwards towards front). This will open up your stance, and give you a better geometry in the attack position.
We were just talking about this on the last ride, Carl. We reckon it might be the electronic powervalve? It really seems to give the engines a boost at lower revs. My Beta Xtrainer is well known for its grunt but the Sherco is a lot stronger so I'm running the soft map to tame it a bit.
Great to see you guys in the #shercofamily The brand has really taken off here in Australia especially and I believe it's a choice you'll be pleased with looking back later. Enjoy 👌
I brought a 2019 300Se smoker brand new,no regrets yet.keep an eye on your spokes as they can drop out. When i brought mine there were only two others at the local track, yesterday there must of been close to 10 shiny new ones of different engines.I just placed an order for a smart carb as a treat to myself for my fiftieth birthday this year so will be interesting to see if the hype about them is true.
The dealer told us to check the spokes, Simon. I did a quick 'sound check' with a screwdriver before our third ride but we'll give them a proper check this week. Let us know how the smart carb works out.
Good hack for the battery is to add extension leads under your seat so if you have to jump start it’s easier off another bike, of course good to carry at least one jump pack in your ride group too. Fuel tap is ok for those of us with small hands, can’t get knocked but is annoying ! I’ve just gone from the 125 to the 250 and love it, other 1/2 also on a 250 hes more an aggressive style rider so wasn’t sure how that 300 power will go, but will likely go 300 next.. nothing the 250 hasn’t been able to do though. PS thank you both for your help on Rocky mile at Kozi - practising small pivots is next up for me & got that rim locked moved to avoid the tyre unbeading !
Thanks for the reminder, Cara! I keep forgetting to put the jumper leads in my toolkit, I just grabbed them then. We are looking at small cheap fuel taps to add into the existing setup. See if you can get a test ride on the 300, it has so much grunt I wonder if I could have just gone the 250 myself... no regrets though, I just leave it on the 'soft' map. Glat to help at the Kozzie, how did you go? Get a full lap in? I didn't!
Boys and their toys! Three rides now and loving them, David. But if we hit problems we'll definitely discuss these in a full review video in coming months.
Hey mate I have a 2022 300 factory and just swapped out 2x clutch springs for KTM300 springs 2014 I believe. Clutch is easily 10% lighter and as nice as everyone else's clutch.
@@crosstrainingenduro No.....I am still on a Carb, with Closed Chamber forks. It's set up well and just works. I'm in a situation like you where....what to buy? I just haven't felt comfortable when test riding any of the new Austrian bikes the last few years. So I held off
Did you find the forks a bit stiff initially, Dale? Jeff's loosened up pretty quickly, mine still feel a bit firm after three rides but are great for the faster stuff.
@@crosstrainingenduro MMMM???? They seem firm but not stiff. I'm 250 lbs with gear and trail clearing sawlzall. I spoke with a highly experience suspension guy in my area and he said since most of my riding is mountain single track, leave them alone. 20 hours and they will be completely broken in. If anything I may want a new rear spring. But I really doubt I will do any mods to the suspension.
Brilliant! Glad to see you've 'surrendered'! I have the SER 250 6 days and it's the best bike I've had in near 30 years of riding. Handling is superb and power is fantastic I thought I may regret going the 250 instead of the 300 but it's easily enough for my ability.
I'm a surrender monkey. 😂 I'm surprised at how grunty the 250 is. After three rides I'm still using the soft map on the 300 just to tame that bottom end power a bit for traction.
Thanks, three rides in and definitely enjoying it! Is your Husky a 2021 or 2022 model? Just wondering if your dealer installed the 'extreme map' which uses more oil. Seems to be a very recommended mod to reduce long-term wear etc. They look great, I was looking at a heavily discounted one six months ago!
@@crosstrainingenduro it’s a 2022. They only had two rockstar editions in stock so I grabbed one up. So I at least look like Billy Bolt. 😆 Now if only I could mimic his riding I’d be set! Thanks for the heads up on the extreme mapping. I’ll definitely ask my dealer today. Enjoy the new bike!
I'm currently waiting on my husky 300 rockstar to arrive at dealer. Getting impatient and about to go sherco instead. Iv never ridden a tpi bike. How you liking it
@@aaronphillips2728 love it man! Still getting use to it compared to my Honda dual sports. It is a beast in the woods although I believe any of the enduro bikes would be more than I need.
If they have addressed the key known issues in recent years, I'm keen to see the bikes sell well. One of the things that swung me over is the main problems have had updated parts in recent years so the bikes should be pretty bulletproof. If they aren't we will let everyone know.
Congrats Barry and bro Great clip as usual mate Got my eyes on the 250, what mods are needed to the carby?? I believe they come out of the factory too rich rich right ??
im thinking about getting a 250 2stroke enduro bike and im between this sherco and a beta. Ive ridin a beta and the engine was buttery smooth due to its counter weight. How does the sherco engine compare to the beta.
I too have a thing for a thoroughbred Gaul, glad to hear they lived up to your high hopes. It's stupid I know, but the colour, and the distinctive whine of the sherco two-stroke models is enough for me! So congratulations Barry, on getting your new steed. Personally, I wouldn't care if all two strokes came with no means to start them! They rarely stall, and you only need half a wheel revolution to get them going again. If you stall them in a shitty spot, then try harder. You Muppet! Simple=light=heaven.
Great to hear, Mark. I like that distinctive sound too. We aren't too worried about the lack of a kickstart either, in fact I did a whole vid about that. We do carry a small set of jumper leads too... ruclips.net/video/GnVW8Vcgnpg/видео.html
@@crosstrainingenduroThere aren't many of your vids I haven't watched Barry, and that's not one of them! Enjoyed it at the time, but always disappointed when riders don't know how to bump start their bikes. I used to bump start my Austin Mini car by myself in my youth haha! It's a pity that when we buy s nice new shiny bike we must be victim to 'progress'. I own an example of the best trail bike ever made(not my words, the words of MCN magazine), 2003 250 2T 92kg wet, kickstart only, no battery at all, will climb anything, never lets me down. Can you guess what it is? Probably wouldn't suit you though Barry, your legs are too long!
Put a battery tender on it Baz and plug it in after every ride. FYI my "standard" jetting is too lean on the needle from stock so just be aware. Only became apparent in a high gear while cruising on small throttle opening.
Cheers Glenn. Yeah we've been wondering how the battery will go as we are stopping and starting so often. Jetting seems fine so far but then we are almost always in first or second gear with our rides.
@@crosstrainingenduro I ran that stock battery for 72 hours/1200 miles and it was still going strong. Changed it just now because with e start only why risk an older battery. The SE puts out 220 watts , the fan runs like crazy but it runs straight off the stator so the battery isn’t ever going to go flat unless you have a regulator issue. It will start better in cold weather with your favorite high CCA battery though.
S3 makes an expanded power valve cover for the Sherco. In the same way that the Xtrainer has the extra spacer on its power valve cover versus the RR. Just something I saw while researching. Grrrruunnt
@@crosstrainingenduro lol. Yes. They sell that an an extreme power head. But it’s a low compression head designed for smooth lows for extreme enduro. Not generating extreme power. There’s a guy in NZ put one on his Sherco. He has a vid up, and Mario Roman has a recent video where they pimped out his Sherco 300 with S3 parts and he says he loves the feel. So there you go, a must have. 😂👍
I would like to have one😫 but there is no dealer near me. I got a Sherco trails bike a year ago and then the dealership shut down that was two hours away now part and service sucks.
Bummer. Actually our dealer is almost two hours away. And there's another one 90 minutes away. I'm not too worried though as they ship parts fast and I ride enough to not worry if I miss one ride.
Great bikes to sell at around 150 hours. All the moving parts in the power valve will need to be replaced. All the starter parts will also be pooched and you will be left to pick up the crumbs from your croissant crushers. I have had both the standard model and the race model pre KYB. I expect they are much better handling with the KYB. Like the GasGas/Rieju bikes ( I also hove one of those), I feel the long term reliability is suspect at best. Foe the money they need to do a lot better on quality.
I figured the power valve and starter motor would need a good service at some point for reliability... I haven't priced the parts as yet. The KYB is good but definitely set up for aggressive riding. I have steadily backed off the compression damping to zero to try and soften it up for our style of riding. It's not as plush as Yamaha's SSS version of the KYB forks.
I’m a KTM 300xc tpi rider right now. I’m 100% going Sherco when I upgrade. I’m over having to keep oil pumps, and crank case pressure sensors on hand. I want to go back to a carb, mix my own frigging gas, and not have to worry about all these goofy electronics. And I’m a tpi owner who’s had zero issues in over 150 hours. Imagine how much I’d bitch if I’d had issues lol. I rode a 2021 Sherco 300se factory a while back. (First year counterbalance models) smart carbed. It was just as smooth as my ktm and the motor was tons better. Bottom, mod, and top.
@@crosstrainingenduro yeah man. It’s just too much. And too much extra money spent if you replace everything say every top end. 200 dollar job turns to 400 with piston, oil pump and new sensors. So ridiculous. 2023 Sherco 300se factory is calling my name next year. May even try a beta, but I fell in love with my buddies New Sherco so it’ll be. Tough choice.
It's always nice to get a new bike. I may get a new new in 2-3 years so I'm wondering what the selection will be like then. For now all I want to do is get out and ride! It was 16°F this morning when I got up. 😪
@@jamesdenton3692 The really crazy thing is that it was 72°F a few weeks ago and I was out in shorts and a tee-shirt washing my truck! I didn't ride that day because I figured Spring was coming and I'd have plenty of time!...beside there was still snow in the woods.
That new bike feeling, Dave. 😍 I wonder if we'll really see any true advances with two strokes in the next few years. We may see carbs dying out. 😢 There's definitely a move away from kickstarters, which is a worry if a model has electric start or battery issues.
I almost bought a 250SE but I passed on it cuz I felt it was slow. Hindsight being 20/20 & having a better understanding of thier power delivery I should've bought it cuz they're few & far between in my region. I compared it to my 450 and I know the error of my ways. That's like apples to oranges comparison. What kind of tire plugs do you use? I found the these hard rubber type that fit into your hand like a ring you punch into hole on tire & break it off. Works like a charm. They're called Monkey Grip Speed plugs. They're perfect for a trail pk cuz you don't need any tools except O2 shot to inflate.
Interesting plugs... we probably won't bother carrying anything as flat tyres still work really well for our slow technical rides. We'd just need to be careful hitting rocks or roots with any speed.
Tough choice! Both are great bikes. The Sherco engines are really good, the 250 is very grunty and almost feels like a typical 300. The Beta 200 has a much softer power delivery of course. But a bit lighter and feels a bit like a mountain bike... awesome in tight single track.
I have 25 hrs on my 22 250 se factory .I can pretty much confirm everything you've said. My only real gripe is that petcock. It wouldn't be so bad but not only is it hard to get to but mine is also super stiff to turn. Oh well I don't frequently find myself having to switch to reserve so I can live with it.
It's ridiculous they haven't fixed that yet after years of complaints. We are probably just going to add another one into the fuel line that is easy to reach. Plenty of owners do this, and often add a fuel filter too.
May i ask what jetting you are running, and in what condition, eg. altitude, temp etc..? I recently bought a 300 factory, and i find it a bit rich, even if following sherco`s tables. Great video btw:)
I really enjoy your channel over here in North Wales and have just bought the 300 se. I love the buttery smooth electronic power valve, low down torque, and overall she looks ohhh la la 🇫🇷 😃 As a 6'4'' rider I'd be interested in knowing what mods you are contemplating on your 300? Keep up the good work. Huw 🤙
I've been out on her today. I feel like René from Allo Allo taking Yvette out for a spin!! 😂 What are your thoughts on front fork position, rebound and compression settings? Same on the shock spring size and rebound/compression settings? Cheers Huw
Unfortunately I didn't ask the dealer. He just set it up the way all Australian dealers do for sea level to a few hundred meters. The majority of riders are riding in 15 to 30C so they probably don't vary the jetting from state to state.
But what about the price? I looked at Shercos back in 2018 and the price was significantly more then the Beta and ultimately the deciding factor as to why I went Beta.
So i have a question. What is the power like on the 250 when you want to get her singing ??? I’m going to be in the market for a bike soon and i want a two stroke BUT id like something with more hit. Most people these days are after a two strike that is mild mannered. I do a very little bit of harder stuff. I try to avoid it if i can but in saying that i do like flowing single’s oh and it needs to regoed for NSW so I’m not in the market for a moto crosser at all.
I can't find a dyno chart but typically the top end of the 250s is very similar to the 300s, Nick. And they spin up faster due to the lighter piston. A lot of guys buy the 250 for this reason if they like getting on the pipe.
Le Clake? Pas maintenant, Cedric. 😢 I sold it a few years back. It's an amazing clutch but once I discovered the Midwest lever it just seemed to be a more bulletproof option for the riding we do.
Hi Barry the map switch is a bit fragile I have a 21 300Se factory and the lug is great so far yery good one set of rings and pistion on my second 4 litres of 2 smoke oil
My sausage fingers really struggle to get in to the fuel tap on the Sherco bikes. Regarding your clutch, I can see that the part numbers are different between the 250 and 300 - might be interchangeable? They are a sweet looking bike, congratulations!
@@crosstrainingenduro I'll be there as a part of the sweep crew, but I'm really looking forward to catching up with everyone as much as I'm excited to heckle Benji from the sidelines!
Congrats on the new whip! Always wanted to hear what a bike sounded like with the crazy looking shipping pipe they come with! (Seen it in the back of your truck..hint,hint😉
@@crosstrainingendurook thanks. So your not finding the sherco to small for us taller riders then?. Loving your vids here in the uk by the way. Top man 👍👌
I would love to see an adjustable shock system that would allow us to make adjustments on the trail as desired, electronically or via cables. Also adjustable valves, I don't know about Sherco, Beta etc, but Yamaha and Honda after 900 years of putting out great bikes still requires shims. This is 2022 AD not BC. lol Edit: I don't mind the added weight of a cable, electronic pack or grub screw. I realize it can't be done, and they're really dumb ideas to be able to make suspension adjustments on the fly, and adjust valves in 5 mins instead of over an hour, but I wouldn't mind the extra cost nor weight, I would love it.
From an engineering point of view, shims are the lightest and most reliable way to maintain valve clearance. On an old low rpm air cooled motor grub screw adjusters were a simple solution, however the modern 4 stroke engine on a dirt bike can reliably rev to 13,000rom in some models. This those valves are opening and closing 108 times a second..... any reduction in weight is vital to make sure they're reliable. On the suspension, all bikes are trail side adjustable, you just need a screwdriver. Having a motor and cable plus associated wiring is just added weight and complexity
They both seem smooth to me. Not sure if there would be a difference really... bigger piston could mean more vibes but then you also need to rev it less.
Not a criticism, but the video has you giving the bikes a pretty hard time, difficult terrain, lots of 1st/2nd gear, clutch use, suspension working overtime and so on. Do you rebuild or repair these bikes often? Sometimes I think you'd be better off with "Trials" bikes! Great channel by the way.
We have actually been surprised at how little work is needed, David. To date, only one of us has worn out clutch plates... Scott on his 200EXC after five years. Tyres last forever, as does suspension. We usually do engine rebuilds at 200 hours but the engines are revved so little the piston, rings and bore always look great.
Great vid - I have a video where I mod my clutch to make it lighter. 3 KTM springs and a Midwest lever. The springs in particular are great. I feel it’s about half the pull.
@@crosstrainingenduro What KTM years and models use these springs? Even with the spirit of Captain Cook having a hard time finding them, of course at 65 yrs of age, understood.

We were talking about that a lot on the last ride. The 250 feels like the 300s did a few years ago, I'm not surprised Jeff is happy with the 250 as it is. I reckon I would be too...
Sherco got the looks right with their latest models. Not surprised they haven't changed the shape since 2017.

It's ridiculously good at hills, Mike. 😂 Obviously I've got a brand new knobby and we've already put the TUbliss in and running low air pressures. But they really feel like a turbo tractor and just hook up so well on loose snotty climbs over wet tree roots.
I think you made the right decision..only gripe I have is they're a little difficult to work on...
Crongrats from 🇨🇦 to both of you!!! Looking forward to long term review
Thanks Don! Three rides now and we are happy chappies. We'll definitely do a long term review in a few months with our usual critical eye. 😎
Cheers!
Great to hear, Bob! Would you have the parts number for the 125 clutch springs by any chance?
I don’t have the part number as the local dealer ordered them in for me. They’re an awesome dealer here in Utah. Shout out to Moto Experts. I’ll give them a ring tomorrow and get a part number back to you.
Much appreciated! I do have the part number for the 250EXC but if the 125 springs work even better, why not?
I am in Darwin and purchased a 300se Factory from Sunstate in Maroochydore, excellent service and they shipped it to me. I LOVE my 300. My first 2stroke in over 15years. Come from KTM's. I LOVE my Sherco. Regis for me at 5'10 are spot on.
Love your vids, keep up the excellent content 😃
Great to hear!
Did Sunstate re jet your bike before you got it as a pre delivery? I've heard the Shercos come way too rich with the standard jetting. Most bike shops rejet them at no cost so just wondoring if Sunstate did too?
So you bought it! Congratulations mate, many happy rides 👌🏼
It’s nice to know the French are not crap at everything.
We've done three rides now and still grinning a lot. 😊
Great vid Barry, thanks for including the important but dangerous moment of driving home with the bikes on the trailer and trying not to stare in the rearview too much 😂
It would be much safer if the dealer applied a mud coating first lol.
We did a vid years back on that topic, Johannes. Can't remember the name though...
great choice. I had a Sherco and it was the best enduro I've ever had. Un grand merci de France pour la video
Et une grande 'Pas de probleme' d'Australie. 😎 Which model did you have?
Hi Barry. I’m 6’8” I recently moved my pegs and bars closer together. And it has improved my riding instantly. I feel it may be mostly in my head that the bike feels smaller so installs more confidence.
Interesting! Most of us go the other way...
@@crosstrainingenduro can you explane me what you do when you ower 180cm high, pegs or bars modification where to put them?
Thx
You removed 2 clutch springs or replaced them with ktm springs? Im interested in this tactic
@@crosstrainingenduro It will soften near the bottom end...
That 250 is definitely a grunt meister, Ross. I thought I'd never buy another 250 after my old 250EXC but it would be a possibility now.
Well.done Barry, wishing you millions of happy trails on your pony
Thanks! Big grins so far... 😊
I remember helping you load these two on your ute Barry.
Have fun out on the trails.
Congratulations! Though I was hoping that you’d get the TM, you probably made the wiser choice, riding as much as you do.
I loved my 250se to this day I've ridden nothing better on hard trails and always regreted selling it at the start of COVID
Can't go wrong with the Midwest levers. Love em.
My left hand can't wait. 😂
Hoh hoh hoh! Félicitations mon ami! Not bad hrench for an Aussy. Glad to hear it is working well for you!
La troisieme voyage maintenant, et je suis comme la vache qui rit! How is that for some bad French? 😂
Hi, bro)))
In my bike, front fork with springs 4.6, not 4.2 (as the manufacturer says in the manual).
4.6 is the correct spring as listed in the manual.
Not sure where you have seen 4.2 as it is only an optional spring in the parts list

About six rides now and loving them, Brian!
Ahh the new bike joy. Congrats you pair.
It is fun, Darryl. Jeff is over the moon, he loves a new bike. I enjoy it too, but I'm not a fan of all the setting up.... thankfully there's not too much needed.
Sounds like you both got a great deal - that’s the way to do it! Look forward to seeing how you get on with them!! 👍
We didn't push too hard, Mark. The dealers don't have much of a markup as it is.
@@crosstrainingenduro
Got to be a fair deal for everyone, it’s important! Plus we all like to have actual local dealers to go to when necessary or needed! Common sense had to prevail, unfortunately the ‘new’ internet culture is killing retail as we knew it!
Don't worry about dealers to much it's actually the manufacturers that bend us over. "Fortnine RUclipsr," had a really good video on this.
I watch his vids occasionally but must have missed that one... do you remember the name?
@@crosstrainingenduro Sure thing, ruclips.net/video/meHYBhcpdvQ/видео.html
Loose the bar risers.
I also used to think risers would bring the bars up and easier to ride.
Turns out, they bring the bars up and back, making the bike feel more cramped.
With your height, try offset bar mounts, mounted forward, and roll your bars 1 mark forward (ends roll upwards towards front).
This will open up your stance, and give you a better geometry in the attack position.
Yes, but we moved the bolts to the forward position on the triple clamps which offsets this, Jess... and rolled the bars slightly forward.
Proud you went French :)
I am about to do the same to replace my old gas gas.
Cheers from Paris !
C'est la vie n'est ce pas? 😎
We just picked up the Sherco 250 factory. It amazes me how close the torque it has compared to my Beta 300.
We were just talking about this on the last ride, Carl. We reckon it might be the electronic powervalve? It really seems to give the engines a boost at lower revs. My Beta Xtrainer is well known for its grunt but the Sherco is a lot stronger so I'm running the soft map to tame it a bit.
Great to see you guys in the #shercofamily
The brand has really taken off here in Australia especially and I believe it's a choice you'll be pleased with looking back later.
Enjoy 👌
Cheers, mouse of danger!
Being french myself, I wish you the very best with your new darling 💞
Vous etes tres gentil... les motos sont tres gentil aussi. 😍 Excuse my bad French, I need to work on it lol.
Great videos as always. Gracias por compartir
De nada! 😁
Also, clutch swap to Protaper flexi made mine lighter & more precise to adjust (has fancy clicker adjustments ) ☺️
I didn't!
New toys! Nice! Looking forward to seeing more about these!
Noice!
I went (KTM) 250 when the dealer had sold out of 300's.
Never gone back! Plenty of torque and it doesn't try to kill you when it's pissed off!
Is that a TPI 250, Paul? We rode one back to back with the last 250EXC carb model... they felt like completely different bikes!
@@crosstrainingenduro No.....I am still on a Carb, with Closed Chamber forks. It's set up well and just works.
I'm in a situation like you where....what to buy?
I just haven't felt comfortable when test riding any of the new Austrian bikes the last few years. So I held off
I'm really enjoying my 300 se Factory. Great suspension!!
@@crosstrainingenduro to be honest I use the soft map on the 250 most of the time!
the fuel tap is pretty awkward to reach, but we added a second tap in the fuel line that comes outwards. works like a charm.
Good to hear, Chrisi! Did you make your own bracket to anchor it somehow?
@@crosstrainingenduro the tap we use is not that heavy, just a small plastic part. it hangs freely in there.

Congrats on the new bikes!
Cheers Bruno, we've done a few rides now and no regrets at all!
Congrats! Still getting use to my new te300i. Enjoy!
Thanks, three rides in and definitely enjoying it! Is your Husky a 2021 or 2022 model? Just wondering if your dealer installed the 'extreme map' which uses more oil. If they have addressed the key known issues in recent years, I'm keen to see the bikes sell well. One of the things that swung me over is the main problems have had updated parts in recent years so the bikes should be pretty bulletproof. If they aren't we will let everyone know.

Way too rich for Australia. I don't know what mods the dealer did but it works great.

im thinking about getting a 250 2stroke enduro bike and im between this sherco and a beta. Ive ridin a beta and the engine was buttery smooth due to its counter weight. How does the sherco engine compare to the beta.
Both engines are balanced, they should feel pretty similar I think
Sorry ,that was meant to read replacing clutch springs .As did the washers made the clutch slip when getting a flogging.Good luck
Congrats 👍

S3 makes an expanded power valve cover for the Sherco. In the same way that the Xtrainer has the extra spacer on its power valve cover versus the RR. Just something I saw while researching. Grrrruunnt
Damn. I wouldn't want more grunt on the 300, I'm already running the soft map to tame it down a bit lol.
Another great video,is there a bigger fuel tank available for these models keep up the good work 👌
I don't know, Chael. We barely use half a tank on our slow gnarly rides so we didn't look into it.
yes available from sherco website
Beautiful bikes.
😍
Glad you had zero issues, Jimbo.... many have no issues thankfully. But it can be a nightmare when all that complexity goes wrong.
@@crosstrainingenduro yeah man. It’s just too much. And too much extra money spent if you replace everything say every top end. 200 dollar job turns to 400 with piston, oil pump and new sensors.
Félicitations de la Suède aux bonnes achats!
Merci Henrik!
Definitely an off road dedicated bike. They seem great. Just can’t decide if I wanna save for a sherco or a beta 200 race edition 🤔
Tough choice! Both are great bikes. The Sherco engines are really good, the 250 is very grunty and almost feels like a typical 300. The Beta 200 has a much softer power delivery of course. But a bit lighter and feels a bit like a mountain bike... awesome in tight single track.
5:05 - it's not strange, it's frange! Just look at the the cars they make...

Same on the shock spring size and rebound/compression settings?
Cheers Huw
All summed up in our suspension vid, Huw
I'm at Ipswich, may I ask where your riding is done
Mostly private properties of friends nowadays, Darryl
@@crosstrainingenduro that explains it, very few places to ride around here
Do you know what jetting they put in the bikes? What is your elevation and temps? Thanks, JLow.
Pretty comparable. Lately it seems availability is the real issue. One of our guys is looking at another Beta but may have to wait months.
A lot of guys buy the 250 for this reason if they like getting on the pipe.
interested in your review of these shercos !
Us too! We'll probably get five to 10 rides on the baguette benders then report back. It's looking good so far...
If you have any questions about french, I will be glad to help 😂
P.S: don't you have a Clarke One Light clutch lever ?
Le Clake? Pas maintenant, Cedric. 😢 I sold it a few years back. It's an amazing clutch but once I discovered the Midwest lever it just seemed to be a more bulletproof option for the riding we do.
@@crosstrainingenduro Dans ce cas, on va s'en passer
Tres bien, from NZ.
De rien!
I've found running on the 'soft' mapping mode absolutely kills the fuel economy. If you're on a long ride, keep it in the hot mode.
Check the underside of the clutch master cylinder it should have the size stamped on it the 250 probably has a smaller piston making the pull lighter
Cheers, I'll look into it.
Hi Barry the map switch is a bit fragile I have a 21 300Se factory and the lug is great so far yery good one set of rings and pistion on my second 4 litres of 2 smoke oil
At a hard enduro yesterday, a pile of Shercos had busted switches.
Loved my 16 300 only reason i sold it was no matter how I rode it would only get 70k to a tank
My sausage fingers really struggle to get in to the fuel tap on the Sherco bikes. Regarding your clutch, I can see that the part numbers are different between the 250 and 300 - might be interchangeable? They are a sweet looking bike, congratulations!
Cheers Coxy! We might just put a second fuel tap into the line if it becomes an issue. Will you be at the Kozzie?
@@crosstrainingenduro I'll be there as a part of the sweep crew, but I'm really looking forward to catching up with everyone as much as I'm excited to heckle Benji from the sidelines!
Congrats on the new whip! Always wanted to hear what a bike sounded like with the crazy looking shipping pipe they come with! (Seen it in the back of your truck..hint,hint😉
It would be an interesting experiment, Tony!
@@crosstrainingenduro yeah. I’ve searched for a video on that but never came across any…🤷🏻♂️
What bar risers you using?
Dealer supplied them, Dan. I don't know the brand.
@@crosstrainingendurook thanks. So your not finding the sherco to small for us taller riders then?. Loving your vids here in the uk by the way. Top man 👍👌
Nice bike, still sad it's not a tm, though.
I would love to see an adjustable shock
system that would allow us to make adjustments
on the trail as desired, electronically or via cables.
Also adjustable valves, I don't know about Sherco,
Beta etc, but Yamaha and Honda after 900 years
of putting out great bikes still requires shims.
This is 2022 AD not BC. lol
Edit:
I don't mind the added weight of a cable, electronic
pack or grub screw. I realize it can't be done, and
they're really dumb ideas to be able to make
suspension adjustments on the fly, and adjust
valves in 5 mins instead of over an hour,
but I wouldn't
mind the extra cost nor weight, I would love it.
That would be cool!
Ton français est parfait 😁
Tu et trop gentil, Tim. 😂
Which is smoother 250 or 300 ?
Great to hear, I'm ordering the springs this week
@@crosstrainingenduro Hey could you share the springs ref.? I think i'll give it a try too. Thanks !
54832080000. You only need three apparently.
@@crosstrainingenduro thanks a lot
@@crosstrainingenduro What KTM years and models use these springs? Even with the spirit of Captain Cook having a hard time finding them, of course at 65 yrs of age, understood.
