This is called the *Maxus EV30* in China. From Wikipedia: _The Maxus EV30 is a standard 2-seater panel van and is equipped with a powertrain that produces 94 hp (70 kW) of power and 220 N.m (162 lb.ft) of torque powering the front wheels. _*_The EV30 is capable of a top speed of 90 km/hr (56 mph),_*_ and accelerates to 50 km/hr in 5 seconds._ _The interior has standard equipment including air conditioning, electric windows, USB & Bluetooth connectivity, storage, cup holders, adjustable electric door mirrors, a multifunction steering wheel and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for export models. Additionally, a reverse camera with rear parking sensors, cruise control, six cargo bay floor-mounted strapping rings and a cargo bay solid partition with a glass panel option to separate the cabin cabin._ _There are two battery packs offered on the E Deliver 3 for the UK; a 35kWh and a 52.5kWh, returning a range of 98 miles and 150 miles respectively rated via the NEDC cycle. A rapid charge to around 90% of the battery takes 45 minutes, while a Type 2 full battery charge would take seven hours._ The top speed probably explains why we aren't hearing about this in the United States, this isn't fast enough to be safe on our freeways. It would need to go at least 65mph (~105km/h) and would be better if its top speed were 75mph (~120km/h) to keep up with the flow of traffic. Undoubtedly the power consumption per unit of distance is is worse the faster one goes too, so that range of 98/150 miles (~160/~240km) would drop significantly if it was regularly driven at its top speed. This seems like it would be a decent vehicle for an entity that mostly drives around city streets within a limited geographical area, such as particular delivery routes where it doesn't see more than say, 100 miles (~160km) in a day, or as a service vehicle for cities, school districts, or even corporate franchises wihin a limited geographical area. Those sorts of uses where the drivers aren't having to use freeways and are mostly making service calls within a set geographical boundary would be able to use this without range anxiety, and if they're largely being driven to locations owned by those entities, it would be possible to set up charging infrastructure onsite to keep the vehicles powered while technicians are working. I would like to see the Fiat Ducato/Ram Promaster sold widely as an electric, for municipal-area use its front wheel drive and thus low cargo floor would be very convenient for tradesmen or delivery drivers, and it's already known that the chassis passes safety and crash performance metrics. I'm admittedly still nervous on Chinese vehicles on that particular criteria. EDIT: Something else, I would like to see more simple electric vehicles, that aren't incredibly overloaded with cabin tech. Drivers are already distracted enough as-is, and that tech is expensive. Make the vehicles less expensive and they might well sell better to those that simply can't justify the costs of those extra features.
Weight doesn't affect electric cars that much since they can recover energy with the regen so I wouldn't be super worried that couple hundred kilos would make a huge difference. One ton surely does a lot but that's not very typical use of small van.
I own a ram promaster city. It’s a fiat Diablo in Europe. Small van. Mine’s a pure cargo version. No Windows or seats. I think it’s a perfect daily driver for anyone needing to carry stuff. Crappy cvt transmission, but otherwise, it’s a nice vehicle. If there was a decent electric version available, I’d have that for sure. Maybe someday... great content as always! Thanks 😊👍👍
@@jessenic 😜 no windows or seats in the BACK, I should say. I actually thought the same thing as I was typing it and wondered if I should be more clear. But then decided to be lazy...as I too often do. 😊

@@Beyondthepress Lens dirt usually isn't that sharp. But dirt on the sensor also becomes almost invisible with a big enough aperture, you have to stop down a bit to see it clearly.
We have had a few of the truck bed variant of these in work, they are LDV here not Maxus. Was surprised to see them already, did not expect to see anything electric being fitted with steel truck beds.
That was interesting. You might need to start planning a PV installation at your home. So you can charge your future car/van directly from the sun as well as powering your house.
I actually asked about Tesla Solar roof since I had to replace my roof last year but they didn't have any idea when they start to sell it here. But I can always but some panels on the roof later. And it's angled in a way that only 1/3 is really usable for power generation.
@@Beyondthepress A lot of homes here in USA southwest build a covered "carport" with the roof angled best for mounting solar panels. Many homes have large carports (like a garage without walls) to park RV or boats or travel trailers in the shade of the carport, so they make great mounting areas for solar panels.
@@Beyondthepress Oh I see. From what I can see online you should be able to put ~16 panels (1x1.8m) on south-west roof with 85% efficiency, 4 panels on the south-east with 85-90% efficiency and 8 panels on the north east roof with min. 50% effficiency. Thats a 9.8kWp installation with effective ~7,5kWp. Not too bad. I used the diagram from here: news.dualsun.com/co-en/12/2014/what-is-the-optimal-orientation-and-tilt-angle-for-solar-panels/
Finland is not that great for PV I imagine, especially northern parts of it, as usable solar power drops near the poles of the Earth, even if the sky is clear.
That van looks great for me. I prefer simple utilitarian vehicles instead of fancy shmancy cars like Tesla. Looks like you can't get it in the USA yet though.
Very cool up until the point when you need to buy parts or get service. I have worked on so many Chinese electric vehicles that I wouldn't drive one if it were given to me. (I have wound up adapting American or Australian parts to keep them going.) As for an air/fuel explosion, Try compressed oxygen to scatter the fuel, then a simple black powder charge to ignite it.
Great reporting on this van. I would like a translation of how much in US dollars this van might be. I would also be interested to know if this van can meet US Department of transportation specifications. Very well done.
I have been driving hybrid (Prius) cars for years so this move to all electric is really good news! Until very recently all electric vehicles with enough driving range just haven't been available. I worry a bit about a car or van made in China. I'm sure they will get better with time but so far my experience with most things made in China is that the quality is just not there yet. I'm sure it will improve though. I don't think this van is available in the US yet. Maybe doesn't meet regulations here?

Make the vehicles less expensive and they might well sell better to those that simply can't justify the costs of those extra features.

you should've put some weight in the back , the range drops dramatically.
Thanks 😊👍👍
Doblò. Diablo would be too cool of a name. ;) They also build EV version, but not sure if it is available outside local market. (Outside Turkey)
@@jessenic The first cars didn't have windows at all and people have ability to stand in addition to sitting, so no problem at all. :)
@@jessenic 😜 no windows or seats in the BACK, I should say. I actually thought the same thing as I was typing it and wondered if I should be more clear. But then decided to be lazy...as I too often do. 😊
Odd that they would skimp on a thermostat, of all things. It's a pretty easy feature to include with an electric heater!
Yes but a powerful heater will take about the same power as the electric drive. 300km range with heater off, 100 with it on.
@@SeanBZA Well, it has a heater -- the gripe is that there isn't a thermostat (which would be better since it would limit the energy drain).
A reversible AC is the way to go.
A cheap thermostat is below 10€
@@CyberlightFG Doesn't an electrical heating element have nearly 100% efficiency?
@@fewwiggle Yes, but a heat pump has 300-500% efficiency
Nice! I have a Tesla Model 3 and I will NEVER go back to petrol.
Nice car🤗
I'm a gearhead and thought it was interesting !

Hearing road noise instead of engine noise can be kind of weird at first. But after a while the noise actually helps you be aware of your surroundings.
One question: Can Timo fit a used Milling Machine in the back? :)
I think it would been too large :D But the weight was just about on the limit.
@@Beyondthepress Maybe just big enough to carry home Timo's World Record BIG FISH.
Nice, I recently bought a Nissan Env200, I'll never go back to an ICE van. Converted into mtb hauler and campervan that takes me and my Finnish girlfriend around New Zealand 😁

I had this feeling of seeing one of these around but then also thought it could be somewhere from the internets and then you release this stating you have been driving around the area with one.
So now I am puzzled for life as I cannot say which way it was.
Anni at 3:50 "What's that sound?" I think maybe it was the sound of the hamster running on the little treadwheel under the hood. :)
Hi broo I've been watching your videos and it's pretty fun, can you show us a torture test of bike brakes but brakes with cables and not hydraulic brakes
You get your camera sensors pretty dirty doing cool stuff. Get the Lenspen SensorKlear II. It makes cleaning them a 1 minute job.
I think it was on one of our lenses. Since it's clean with some of the shots. But yes I have those sensor cleaning thingys they are great.
@@TheBackyardChemist They seem to do okay though.

Oo, I definitely would love to have that van!
(I have wound up adapting American or Australian parts to keep them going.)
As for an air/fuel explosion, Try compressed oxygen to scatter the fuel, then a simple black powder charge to ignite it.
Pretty good :D
Great reporting on this van. I would like a translation of how much in US dollars this van might be. I would also be interested to know if this van can meet US Department of transportation specifications. Very well done.
woah..
this is good
I have been driving hybrid (Prius) cars for years so this move to all electric is really good news!
"move to all electric is really good news" Not when combined with other "green" policies that limit electrical generation infrastructure/capacity.
@@fewwiggle This whole thing is only green if the method used in generating the electricity is green also like wind/solar/geothermal/tidal/ etc... I think everyone knows this. We have to make that transition also or we are wasting our time.
@@herbertsusmann986 Any intermittent source is NOT green since you have to build back-up capacity to fill the gaps.
Also, all the critical battery elements/compounds are coming from China which is definitely NOT concerned with "green" production/use of resources.
Gonna crush it? Should go good!
Why do I have a feeling that it will never pass a crash test...
Love to see if it is drivable after 12 months
So great for the environment, and saving so much money! When the battery pack expires in 2 years time, you simply throw away the whole van and but a new one!
350 km range....... Until you load it up, turn on the Heater or Air oon, listen to music... Turn headlights on ...... And all of a sudden...... you have 100 km range... We tested a EV here in Australia... In real world day to day conditions... Ok for someone who lives in a city who might use it very limited during the day... But otherwise uselss

They make 2 models, and this is the smaller one, and the smaller one is available in 2 sizes. Makes sense to me! 😁
Two battery sizes?
If you wanna see a cool electric pickup, you should search for the Alfa wolf... Can't wait for those to come to Finland. I would like to change my pickup to an electric one.

Carrying a load off road on rough terrain is something you NEVER see on truck reviews.
One of the downsides of testing press vehicles.
Yep, people were super surprised when we moved 1 ton of water with Ranger on one of our videos in off road conditions. Even the truck was supposedly made to do just that :D
Does Sari’s spaceship 🚀 fit in the back?
