No mention of how or where the magnet in the kit goes? Not very comprehensive….

I received my pack today (that I was FORCED to pay for, thanks very much Yale 😡). I received the access module and the WiFi bridge as I need that to connect to my alarm as my Yale module 2 needs removing.
Watching these instructions in this one the door sense is shown where you see it, but in another video they specifically tell you to place the top of the door sense magnet level with the top of the lock.
Looking at my door I don't have any room on the right hand side of my door at all, so it's impossible to even use the door sense magnet.
Just not a well thought out way of doing things. Poor instructions and forcing people to pay a few years down the line for products that were previously working perfectly.
NOT GOOD BUSINESS AT ALL YALE.
I already bought my Conexis L1 lock, my Yale alarm, my smoke detectors, my Key fobs, remote plug sockets, AND MY YALE MODULE SO IT WORKS WITH MY ALARM.
Now I've had to pay an additional £39.98 just to continue using my own goods.
I will never buy Yale again.
You need to do a comprehensive walk through for those L1 owners who are being forced to upgrade, including the WiFi module and how to set up existing key tags etc.
It's just a mess that way you have gone about this and sending customers emails stating:
"Take action now to avoid losing access to your Conexis® L1 Smart Door Lock."
It's the most reassuring thing to be sending to your customers

@@xbox360benjihey I had at the Yale website and it says this:
Can I still use my Z-Wave module with my Conexis L1, or do I need to migrate to the Yale Home app?
You can still use Z-Wave and not use our module if you wish. However, if you ever wanted to add or remove tags, you could not do this via your app.
This can be done manually however by using the below process.*
*Please be aware that this involves a factory reset, which wipes all credentials and requires setup of the lock, module and credentials again.
Factory reset the lock with the module removed (Page 29 of Conexis Manual).
Reset the actuator inside the door so that the tail-bar is vertical (see pictures A and B on page 8). Once done, refit the handle and Hand the lock (Page 15).
Scan all of your cards and tags into the lock- when doing this, once you have single pressed the R button- 1 by 1 scan in ALL your Cards/Tags carefully but quickly (you only need to press the R button once to do this). Once you have scanned in all the tags- press R to finish.
Once this is complete, you can reinstall your Z-Wave Module.
We would however encourage you to use our Yale Access Module and Yale Home app. Some of the new key features we have added to the new Yale Home app are:
Integrated partners such as Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings & Airbnb. To enable these integrations, you must purchase the Yale Connect Wi-Fi Bridge.

Thanks for sharing. I've installed the kit and Yale Home app following your instructions. But I cannot find the Doorsense magnet Calibration function. It does not come up automatically in the Yale Home app, and I could not find any function in the "Lock setting". I also tried to add a doorsense magnet in the "add a device" tab, but I cannot find the device either. Could you explain how this shall be added? Thanks!

What if I already have a module installed to sync to my Sync alarm, I prefer to keep this function as it links to my smart home, or will I be forced to look for a new smart lock provider purely because you no longer want to support an app?

    • @SulySF
      @SulySF 6 месяцев назад +1

I bought the new module for fiver but I can only use Bluetooth to use the lock and they never say you need a wifi bridge which is an additional cost to use the lock over the internet. I have older module which works with Yale smart bridge(sync bridge) not the wifi plug-in bridge. I installed the new module, upgraded everything and I don't want to buy a new wifi bridge. So I have replaced the new module with the old one and everything works as previously over the internet.

Sully answered my question elsewhere and I've implemented the same solution which I've outlined in more detail in a separate comment.
Tags can be added and deleted using the Yale Home App with the yellow module inserted. Those keys then work fine with the old set up and the white module inserted.

how do you connect the conexis L1 to the yale home app if you dont have a barcode and dont know the serial number?

    • @bigphaddy
      @bigphaddy 7 месяцев назад +5

It's on the Yale access module, it's got a sticker on it and QR code. Plus if you just got the access module there's an additional duplicate sticker in the box too.
You don't add your Conexis L1 lock serial number, you only add the Access Module serial number/Or scan the QR code.
However I attempted to "upgrade" my Conexis L1 lock this weekend and it was a complete nightmare. This video shows you what "should" happen but I can tell you this certainly isn't the case. My access module couldn't be found, the app tried to register it but it couldn't connect to it, it tried to update firmware but failed, I tried over and over again pulling batteries resetting etc. nothing. It's completely useless and not as this video perceives. My lock was making all kinds of noises and got stuck continually making the "fanfare" noise, it wouldn't stop, then the lock was clicking over and over.
Not a smooth process at all.
Then eventually after a few hours of trying and new batteries it finally started to install. Got it working and did two firmware updates.
But then came the WiFi bridge 😂
Another nightmare as that wouldn't connect to WiFi (it says 2.4Ghz yet still finds 5Ghz??? No idea why), but tried to install it on the 2.4Ghz. again nothing went smoothly.
Then tried to link it to my SR alarm.
There is a serious problem with this Yale WiFi bridge........ IT DOESN'T WORK WITH MESH SYSTEMS.
My lock is in my kitchen as it the Yale WiFi bridge, as is my Asus Mesh Node, so obviously my Yale bridge tries to connect to the mesh node in the kitchen, which is does. But then the Yale Access Module/L1 lock cannot connect with the Yale servers. So my lock shows as offline. My alarm shows my lock as offline, my Home app shows my lock as offline. So it's impossible to remotely use my lock because it's not online, due to the stupid WiFi bridge that cannot work on a WiFi mesh system.
Therefore the lock and home app only works when you are stood directly next to your lock as it connects via Bluetooth
Yale you need to fix this.
My L1 lock was working perfectly fine with my old Yale Module 2 and EF SR alarm, now you forced everyone onto this stupid WiFi system and it simply doesn't work.
For homes without mesh systems and only one router sure it will work, but it's 2024 and if the Devs arpt Yale cannot get a decent product to work then they shouldn't be in business.
ALL other companies can do it, but seemingly not Yale 🤔
I'm left with a lock that is never online and no longer integrated into my alarm
Thanks for protecting my home Yale 👏
      EDIT
AND I had to pay you £39.98 for you completely ruining my perfectly working alarm system. Thanks very much
      Never again buying Yale
