Oops, guess I just missed the credit reference for the first song. Both are great songs. Recognized Merle Haggard immediately on the second song, but didn't recognize his voice on the first. Probably because of the background singers. I'm a huge fan too from way back. Thanks for posting this clip.
Title of video is meant to draw attention to the fact that Merle Haggard is listed in the credits for singing the song 'Turn Me Around' (aka 'Sally') see 2:00-2:10 which folks are disputing in other clips here on YT - they're saying it's Glen Campbell claiming Merle couldn't sing this high or this smooth etc - It's The Hag and nobody else!
*Quiet men die first* 1971 western starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Two bounty hunters must join forces to track down a group of murderous outlaws, lead by a former hangman.
Ranger Dave, as a huge John Wayne and Merle Haggard fan I can guarantee you that this song and "Sally" were BOTH sung by Merle Haggard. You should have watched this video because it credits Merle Haggard with the song right in the credits. "Sally" is credited to Merle Haggard at the end of the movie. Both are great songs!

Great song and great movie. I don't mean to be rude, but I don't think Merle Haggard performed this song. He did perform a really nice song about half-way thru the movie as the pack wagons are preparing to leave town. I believe it was titled "Sally" in the credits.
Mr. Midshipman Did you read the title to the video posted? I didn't read where it said Merle Haggard narrated anywhere....... The song "Chisum" is sung by Merle Haggard. William Conrad Narrated the opening credits but he did not see the song.
William Conrad does an awesome job with the spoken narration in the title tune, as an old radio guy he knew just how to ratchet up the melodrama.
Great song. Remember this from my childhood.
Bud Bruening: thanks for posting. Cheers! 🥨
Great movie, great theme song!!!

I don't know, sounds like William Conrad narrating to me. Hey, but you believe what you want to. Majority rules, right?

Kyle B Cute, but why doesn't it say Robert Conrad anywhere then? And what's Merle Haggard have to do with it besides nothing?
