Yep. Opened the hood, found oil spray all over the top of the engine. Traced back to the ccv. As I recently bought this used '17, I just replaced the clogged, saturated filter. Getting the mod kit is on the to do list tho. Crank case vent valves sure have gotten a lot bigger and more expensive since the 70s....

Had a dealer quote me 6k for upper oil pan and front cover. I said I brought it in for a coolant leak. They were insistent that is what it was. After some Google research and looking at the truck it was the crossover tube and the pump was starting to leak as well. I asked before I left with the tech that showed me why it was their diagnosis can you explain why the entire valley of the motor has coolant in it then? Wouldn’t you start there before the bottom of the motor

My 17 Cummins ccv was restricting flow enough to build pressure where my oil cap would pop up. Once i replaced the filter that all stopped every diesel has some blow by that is inevitable its when it gets excessive you need to address it before you have catastrophic failure. This is the second filter at 76000 miles the first one at 36000 miles and it did the same thing then to. Its considered excessive when you flip the cap upside down and it bounces up and dances around mine dosent do this it just turn from engine vibration. A primitive test.

my 16 has an oil leak! Took it to the dealer for an engine light and why it was there the oil leak suddenly became excessive. $110.00 for the engine light but the oil leak was going to be $5,500.00 to fix. I picked it up to do my own inspection and found all but one of the accessible bolts on the front of the upper oil pan loose. That don't happen!!!! As expected I found 3 of the vacuum pump bolts literally finger loose. The leak is back to being a drip and I still have a problem. Unfortunately a person ran a stop sign this week and my truck is in the shop getting a new front end! I suspect my problem is the front main seal.

I have a 2004 Ford F250 with a 6.0 diesel. I’ve been pretty busy haven’t had time to change the oil pan gasket myself where the leak is coming from and I know exactly where it’s at. I’ve ran the dye in my oil to follow the leak and it’s coming directly at the corner of the oil pan And I even had a few other technicians look at it and say yeah it’s a simple fix. It’s right at the oil pan so I figured I would give this one diesel shop some work because they’ve been pretty slow and I let him check out told him where the leak was, and they tried to give me a number Such as $8000 to do the job and I said what are you talking about? I said the leak is coming from the oil pan and they said we have to pull the cab off and go through everything to make sure it’s leaking from there and I said I’ve had other technicians already go through this whole truck and tell me exactly I’ve gotten quotes for about $800-$1000 to get it fixed which I was OK with but I was trying to help shop out and give them some work but they were trying to take advantage of me for almost $8000 and the gasket was probably $25 gasket And the 6.0 diesel are known for leaking at the back right corner. My neighbor had the same problem just had his fixed for $850. There’s a lot of shops out there that Will take you for a ride and this shop told me I didn’t know what I was talking about. I could’ve done it myself, but I was just trying to be helpful and give them more work, but they ended up shooting themselves in the foot and I’ve heard a lot of different stories about this automotive shop and the things they’ve tried to do to other people, I believe karma will bite them in the butt

@@Ogdin3 so I bought this truck from a second owner. It was in great shape. This poor kid had to put another $4000 into it to get it working so it had all the bulletproof stuff on it except for the heads and I found out it was the same shop, about a year later after I bought it the fuel bowl that they installed. They did not do such a good job and it’s been leaking for a while. Couldn’t figure out why once in a while I would smell some raw diesel in the front, that shows you the kind of work that they do. The bolt was loose and that’s what was causing the leak on the fuel and only takes a few seconds to double check your work. I noticed too that they had young kids in there doing work such as young teenagers. I don’t know if they were in there for experience or what but the work was very sloppy I just wanted to see what they were gonna charge me to have the oil pan gasket replaced.
