@@TheRideCompanion 100%, was sad to hear he was struggling to get the other pro's to be as passionate and active in making it better with the union ect, really hope more of them step it up like he does.
Belter of an interview. Milky bar kid is a down to earth legend. Only just found this channel (don’t know where I have been) but the best interview channel I’ve seen. Well done Oli, keep up the amazing work!
This interview was so good. I love BK and really respect him and his ability to give an honest opinion, whilst not trying just to have a pop at something or someone. Really hope he nails a WC and his team continue to flourish.
Riding Pivot myself I like how Chris is approaching business and I really like how Bernard is running the team. Fascinating to see how he grows and the dog story is so true.
Bernard is as always, spot on with his opinions of the new format for the worlds. I said the same about Cedric, great guy and an absolute legend, but the wrong choice for commentating. It's like a lot of short sighted, easily avoidable issues overall that you would expect from a complete novice channel and not one that's already well established as a sporting broadcast network. Big fan of the Pivot team mainly due to the RUclips vids. I like that they're there to win races and do right by the brand, but not taking it too seriously at the same time. Kinda like when you get the one guy at a race who turns up in a t-shirt and cutdown jeans and proceeds to completely destroy everyone else in full matching sparkly race gear! :D
Bernard for wc-win this year!!! I hope he can do it! Im cheering for you Bernard! Hey Davi and Olly: Emilie Siegenthaler would be a good guest for the podcast!
Kerr is really cool. Love watching his LSD vlog. The whole team, Lada man, the behind the scenes views and the joy of riding your bike they spread is just awesome! Thanks for having him!
About the DH broadcast. I get that you want to keep a positive vibe and not feed the internet hatred. In this, referring to Davi's previous statement regarding criticising the DH broadcast. That said, different to when it was free to watch on RBTV, I am now a paying customer for this product and I believe it's only fair to air honest opinions about it's lack in quality. Well done Bernard - totally agree with you. Big congratulations on the studio and keep up the great work lads!
The UCI highlights of last week's race Val Di Sole tells you all you need to know about UCI coverage - they showed Bruni's entire run where he crapped the bed and skipped BK's hot seat run completely.
Bern you are the man. So cool and the reason we watch the downhill over here in Oz. We are cheering you for the win every single race and when it happens YOU WILL hear us!
What a great interview by Olly. BK is so good for the sport. The content, enthusiasm and honest insight that he provides is the best out there. Keep up the great work.
@TheRideCompanion Another stellar episode with Bernard. I love how much he cares for the sport and wants what is best for it. When the whole "Riders Union" was being talked about last year I was super hopeful that it bring change. Sadly from what Bernard is saying, it didn't come to fruition. Safety is a huge concern of the riders, but as a fan I want the courses to be safe for the riders too. I don't want my favorite rider to miss any time if there is a bad crash. Bernard's comment on being sold and not paid is 100% correct. Keep up the good work guys.
Never been a fan of sport that had a league or a cup attahced to it. But i started watchinf downhill a few ywars a go and man.... i want Bernard to win so bad every race. This is the year. I can feel it !
Loved the episode, can't deny it, but I feel that Bernard bringing up the riders union was just glossed over. Olly is amazing at what he does but I think the topic should have been taken further rather than just moving on... maybe it came down to time, who knows. It was something Bernard is passionate about and I'd love to have heard more on it. He says nobody's really talking about it and then that's exactly what happened. Again, just wanna say... loved the episode and think it all flows do well. Keep doing what you're doing 😁🖤
Really love the honesty Bernard displays throughout this interview. He isn’t scared to tell it how it is. He should be the union Rep as he is still racing and knows the changes that need to be made. Great interview, hope you crush Hardline and have the best of luck throughout the rest of the season💥💯🤙🏻
The coverage of the semis is pretty brief, we only really see 20-30 seconds of each run I think. So it goes quick. I find it’s a nice follow on from watching the track walk LSD. See how the track is riding, who is taking which lines etc before the big show. Also got to shout out to discovery for covering the juniors finals. That’s a big positive.
Really like the behind the scenes look into the sport. It answers the questions that you ask yourself. Bieggest one being how the riders feel about the new format.
Do love listening to BK, always great insight and honest, and with the extra dynamic of team running just gives something a lil different, pivot struck gold getting him on the team, plus a free lada man. Great stuff, can't wait for hard-line

Great interview, love to hear real talk from one of the top racers out there. Completely agree with his assessment of the new coverage and announcers. I'm a big fan of Gracia and thought he'd do well, but it's not working. Ric, on the other hand, has been pretty solid. The drone and camera operators need to step it up! Regretting signing up for the full year of GCN+ so far.
When watching Goldstone riding, gives me a flashback to the young Sam Hill era, riding his Iron Horse to the flat, so flowy, looking like efortless down the wc tracks...
43:00 Interesting how Bernard talks about the exact same thing as Brendog, saying how you can roll down most tracks on a trail bike and that they're pretty park like these days!
That’s the psychology of life. If you believe you’re are going to do good, you will definitely do it good. That’s why the young kids generally do well. Because they haven’t learnt the doubt yet.
Came here to find and read BK’s comment on a team that spent $10k/week for groceries at Whole Foods, and surprisingly didn’t see any. That is a crazy amount of money even at Whole Foods standard. This truly lives up to WF’s nickname as the Whole Paycheck Market.
Hold on, BK rode hard line last year with a broken wrist and finger? I saw that crash and I was stunned you could continue Mr B. Can have a pint of what BK drinks please 🙏 jeez 🫡 And as always Lada man star of the show 😅
Gotta be honest, Ladaman videobombing the pod was the best thing i've ever seen on this channel. He looks so un-interested by whatever is happening, it's absolutely hilarious 😂🤣
If someone wants to volunteer their time, skills, and career expertise to support the riders in the negotiations and their other endeavors, how could they do it? Who can they reach out to?
Haha im very suprised he didnt get some sort of tan when he was in NZ over the UCI winter.. Unlike the news events you may have seen of regular floods in alot of the North Island, the South Island was almost drought conditions the whole summer. All the tracks were dust bowls everywhere.. In fact there were fires quite close to Queenstown even.. That said most people from outside of NZ, even Australians actually, find NZ sun pretty harsh, due to the intense UV.. So maybe he had sunblock on all the time.. Missed opportunity haha! ;)
I was concerned about injury rates when the change to the dh was announced and it's interesting to hear from Bernard and see it real time that the injuries have anecdotally appeared to gone up. More riding at pace and the need to get through same day semi's means everyone is pushing more and simply being exposed to more track time. Also very concerned about the ability to easily access to watch the DH, it's just poor, you are tied into a new system and subscription that is far worse than redbull at the moment and has put me off watching live. I would not be surprised if without some serious changes the new interest in the sport will start to reduce over the years without the ability to easily watch the DH. I am hopeful that things will improve as I used to love watching live.
I'm glad he mentioned the new format. I am not to into it. It's all over the place, and it seems like you never see a full run. Semi's just don't make sense

Untrained, volunteer track marshals is a common problem in motorsports, too, BK. It's a shame that the equivalent of first responders is often seen as a cost cutting measure or afterthought completely. It's also not uncommon for the younger employees (riders in this case) to not concern themselves with things like unionization for their betterment. Keep fighting the good fight, BK!
Jackson won because he was pumping like a bunny rabbit that whole course. That is his strength. It was unreal if you really pay attention, he made a lot of mistakes, and he would just start pumping so intensely he would immediately be up a second. Which is why you don’t need to be ripped to win a DH. Vali is the same way, she pumps effectively more than anyone. Rachel is on another level though and always will be. She sees matrix down the track. BK DONT Quit anytime soon.YOUR WC PODIUM #1 IS AROUND THE CORNER!!!
When it comes to the semi-final and final thing: i like that the final is 30 riders. Watching the womens plus the mens final before was just too long. So i ended up watching the womens and skipping through the mens final. So i think a middleway would be the solution: qualies and finals, 45riders in mens and 15 in womens.
