If only Zuko could have been there. Aang: Appa and Momo are dueling! Zuko: Does Appa have katanas?! Aang: You can see them? Zuko, who hasn't had a full night's sleep in three years: I see everything
Did you guys catch that it's implied Zuko and Mai banged in this episode? They dismissed the bodyguards, Mai has the house to herself bc her folks are politicians, and he's still in her bedroom the next day with his hair all messed up. And she's making him tea... ;) (From TV Tropes: "Getting Crap Past the Radar" page)
I think the writers were on cactus juice when they were writing this episode xD Also, I'm pretty sure the lighting went in through Aang's back and out his foot.
Lightning travels to the ground, usually by hitting something taller and travelling down it. In Aang's case, since it entered his back, the exit point closest to the ground was the foot that was the lowest and in the straightest path. So, yeah, you're right. It went through his foot.
gotta be careful what you wish for is the moral of this episode. zuko got exactly what he wanted and he's mad that he's still not happy. so he betrayed his uncle for nothing.
He's more confused and conflicted than mad, honestly :P Yeah, maybe he shouldn't have betrayed Iroh but I don't believe it was for nothing. Every character in ATLA has their own journey and their own growth to go through and often times, they'll make the wrong choices every now and then, but what's important is that they learn from them. Some take longer than the other and I think that's especially true with Zuko, someone who for his entire life, just wanted his honor back and for his father to finally accept him.
Zuko has the right to whine. His life has been horrible for the last three years. Now he finally gets the chance to return. And he still feels empty. How could anyone blame Zuko? Even while he was chasing Aang, he still helped other people he met. He was always a good person. Also, him betraying Iroh isn't that shocking. Zuko loves his nation, as well as Mai and his father. Remember that Ozai is very affectionate to Zuko if Zuko is obedient. And considering most people love their parents, of course Zuko will be obedient to him.
I think Azula hit him straight on the middle of his chest from the back, and it channeled down through his feet. And yeah Eric, Zuko is a huge whinny bitch during these episodes, because he's trying to figure out exactly what is it that he wants. That "what am I to do with my life?" crisis most ppl have at the age of 14~15, he had a little bit later because when he was a full on teenager he was so sure he wanted to capture the Avatar. Now he's just become a young adult who realized he still has no idea whatsoever of what he wants to do with himself, he spent years trying to get his father's approval just to find out that it doesn't mean anything to him.
Well you're half way there Fox. And I'm sorry Mahfew, I kinda took myself as standard there, shouldn't have done that =/ So yeah, take what I said and just cut out the part of it happening a little later, making it happen at exactly the right time xD
I forgot how funny this episode was. But in all seriousness, this episode really shows Aang feeling pressure about fighting Ozai. He knows he's not ready so he begins to push himself to limits no one should go. It's kind of sad, actually. : Ps-I knew you'd love the Appa and Momo fight Eric. 😂
I love this episode, because even with all of the great character work making Aang conflicted between wanting to be a kid and having to fulfill his duties, it never really hits you that the entire world is resting on the shoulders of this 12 year old until this episode. It’s the kind of stress anyone would go through in his position, and it’s tackled in a realistic and hilarious way.
That's cool. All of us have our personal preferences. And I can see why this is one of your favorites, because it has plenty of humorous moments. It's one of my favorites too. :)
After watching this episode for the first time: "....Uh were they high when they wrote this?" xD I also loved that little rendition of the ATLA theme at the beginning there ~
Interesting little fact about Appa and Momo: All of their animal noises they make are made by Dee Bradley Baker, a human being. When Aang hallucinates about them speaking, Dee actually did their speaking voices. He also voices a few other characters throughout Last Airbender and Legend of Korra, but this was something I always found interesting.
Funniest bits are when Aang is speaking to Momo in his lemur language, appa and Momo exchange words then fight and of course when the guru says "Chakras...Chakras..everybody like Chakras!!!!" hahhahhaa I die
Fun little joke episode right? I'm sure nothing that happens here will ever turn out to be incredibly important to the overall story. And Calvin's got it backwards; the lightning hit Aang in the back and then the bolt traveled down his leg and discharged out through his foot. Burns on the soles of the feet are a common injury in lightning strike victims.
Its interesting how when they asked if Zuko's scene was a dream too that you can say Zuko's life looks like a daydream but is actually a nightmare, thought of that before.
actually, it is a daydream to him. its to show that hes happy with the reception hes receiving from his people until the very end when he realizes what he has to give up for that happiness.
No, he is not happy like he said in the Beach episode, he has all he thought he wanted but he is still miserable. He says that later too the Boiling Rock episode as well. And how miserable he is acting here and prior episodes.
Sara Samaletdin just because when you look back at something with misery doesnt mean you were miserable at that time. he was genuinlly enjoying the reception he got. again, it plays into later in this episode otherwise him being happy would pointless at that point.
He was happy at some things but deep down he was miserable because what he really wanted was not an empty spoiled life of a prince but a family and their love and have respect and place in the world he earned.

Fun fact: Did you know that Zuko and Mai had, almost definitely, had sex in this episode? It's not confirmed but just think about it; Mai's parents are still in Omashu so they have the whole house for themselves. They even sent away the servants and Zuko clearly spent the night there since they were talking at night when Mai tried to cheer him up and the next scene was them still in her room in the morning. Not to mention he had messy hair. I mean, they're teenagers, alone in a house, of course they would use this opportunity to mess around. I also like how Mai and Zuko were acting in this episode. You can just see how relaxed they are around each other, Mai is smiling more than any other episode here and Zuko looks so content until the war meeting is brought up which is when Mai instantly tries to comfort and/or distract him. Once it's revealed that he is, in fact, wanted there, she's so supportive and happy for him. Zuko even confines in Mai that he doesn't feel like himself. Overall, I liked this episode mainly because of these two. Thank you for reading
I like it when they show Aang - everything is goofy, funny and a bit silly. And when there's Zuko - everything is gloomy and sad. Another perfect balance.
I like the tranquil music at the beginning of the video, as well as the beautiful map. I really like this episode, and one of the reasons is that, for the first time I actually understand what Appa and Momo are saying, even if its a hallucination. :)
Sokka's sword is like Dawn, the ancestral sword of house Dayne. Twas carved and molded from the remnants of a fallen star, and was at the birth, laying at the foot of the bed, of the Bastard born at the tower of joy, Jon Snow.

When I first watched this episode,I laughed so hard and thought that if the writer's were drinking cactus juice when they wrote this(except Zuko parts). Can't wait for the next two episodes.
Azula shot him in the back but, the way lighting works is that when it strikes it searches for the fastest way to be grounded, so it went through aang's back and came out of his foot.
You were asking where they were trying to get to? Well, they already mentioned it in the first chapter, and made it clear that wherever it was it was where the Invasion was going to be launched from, but now you see it.
I know that it's been 3 years and it's pretty much meaningless to comment this, but at 16:05 Calvin is actually incorrect; Aang was shot in the back with lightning and it came out the foot. I'm pretty sure that no matter where a person is electrocuted with lighting, it always exits through the foot. if you were shot directly in the foot, the scar on his foot would be worse than the scar on his back, but it's very much not.
Hey you're actually right about Azula using Mai to control Azula if you read the comics that cover points in between the shows. She needed Zuko to come back with her to complete her task of bringing Iroh and Zuko back but he was reluctant to come so she kinda pushed Mai on him.
Walking Dead returns this weekend, Star Wars Rebels the next weekend. Just out of curiosity, do you guys release videos only viewable by Patrons? (I don't mean early, I mean forever).
@blindwave just so yall know ... when you said he was counting the sheep , he was actually doing a ba gua circle because airbending is based off of the martial art Ba gua
I should loathe this episode on the same level as The Headband. It's mostly filler, has many annoying anime visual gags, and is too over-the-top to be a part of the Avatar canon. But, I find myself enjoying this episode a lot. It's very funny, mainly due to its exaggerations in the dream/daydream sequences. The Momo/Appa fight can get a little too weird to laugh at, but the cheering sheep, dancing rocks, and Ozai Tree make it a scene so crazy and off-the-wall that LSD wishes it could be as chaotic. The third dream sequence Aang has, showing everyone's demise, is very creative and effective at showing Aang's emotions at the time. I especially love the scene in which Aang is standing on a surface, and it reverses, so Aang is under a frozen sea. When he looks up, he sees Book 1 Zuko and a comet flying overhead. It's very good storytelling, abstract animation, and dreamlike craziness. Speaking of Zuko, his story in this episode is pretty good. It's nice to see him happy in those parts of the episode, and passive side is nice to see too. Also, there's a very subtle moment when Aang punches the tree, causing the leaves and branches to fall. Sokka and Toph look towards the commotion, but Toph turns her ear towards the commotion. That's pretty funny and well-hidden, and I wonder if I've been missing it in other episodes.
Sokka has used his fake beard more than his sword at this point...

#Kataang for life! Even in 2017 I still ship it! who agrees?
I loved their reactions when Appa started talking
Take a drink of any beverage any time Aaron says "Mom's Spaghetti" in this video
That Appa and Momo bit still gets me lol
Aang, you're in the middle of a bloody war, people's lives are at stake, and your worst nightmare is losing your pants? You lucky bastard!
Everyone was waiting around for the last episode, but this is what *I've* been waiting for... :D
Azula shot him in the back but, the way lighting works is that when it strikes it searches for the fastest way to be grounded, so it went through aang's back and came out of his foot.
I felt Zuko's situation was a waking nightmare when I first watched this episode. One of my favorite episode!
You were asking where they were trying to get to? Well, they already mentioned it in the first chapter, and made it clear that wherever it was it was where the Invasion was going to be launched from, but now you see it.
man they are gonna love the next two
I know that it's been 3 years and it's pretty much meaningless to comment this, but at 16:05 Calvin is actually incorrect; Aang was shot in the back with lightning and it came out the foot. I'm pretty sure that no matter where a person is electrocuted with lighting, it always exits through the foot. if you were shot directly in the foot, the scar on his foot would be worse than the scar on his back, but it's very much not.
Momo: Shhhhhhh
and Aang wakes up screaming, that's the best fucking part lmao
When i heard Mo Mo and Appa talking all i could hear was Ben 10s aliens
Same
Appa: Yontoryu Ogi: YON ZON SEKAI! (Four sword style secret arts: 4000 worlds!)
When Appa talks I’m dying out laughing
Hey you're actually right about Azula using Mai to control Azula if you read the comics that cover points in between the shows. She needed Zuko to come back with her to complete her task of bringing Iroh and Zuko back but he was reluctant to come so she kinda pushed Mai on him.
The next two episodes are two-parters so I hope you guys watch them together.
Your reaction for aang's daydream was identical to mine XD
Walking Dead returns this weekend, Star Wars Rebels the next weekend. Just out of curiosity, do you guys release videos only viewable by Patrons? (I don't mean early, I mean forever).
@blindwave just so yall know ... when you said he was counting the sheep , he was actually doing a ba gua circle because airbending is based off of the martial art Ba gua
+blindwave
darn dont know how to tag them in this so they see it lol
Everytime I watch season 3, I always wish Aang had kept his hair 😂
My reaction to the fish dream was the exact same I was like "yes, yes, yes, YES, FUCK".
I just saw a really good commercial for a new show and I _really_ wanna watch.
Something about Jack the ripper and time machines. Time after Time.
Love your T-Shirt Eric
This episode is the perfect example of what can happen when you don't get enough sleep.
"Where can I farm, Nova"?
"On mom's spaghetti."
I'm excited to see you're reactions to some of the bending displays in Legend of Korra.
Katara could help Aang spend that extra energy before he goes to sleep... Always helps me go to sleep.
That contrast change after the pre-intro tho
The writers were so high when they wrote that episode.
This episode makes me laugh so hard every single time.
They have no idea about the awesomeness that lies ahead of them.
I LOVE the Appa and Momo fight :D
