Cage Setup:
Size: Finches need a spacious cage, but it doesn’t have to be extremely large.
A good size for a pair of finches is at least 24x24x24 inches, but bigger is better if you plan to house multiple pairs.
Bar Spacing: Ensure the bar spacing is appropriate for the size of finches to prevent escapes.
For small finches, 1/2 inch spacing is usually suitable.
Material: Wire cages are preferred for finches as they provide good ventilation and are easy to clean.
Variety: Include perches of varying thicknesses and materials to promote healthy feet and natural behavior.
Placement: Position perches at different heights within the cage.
Lighting: Mimic natural daylight with a 12-14 hour light cycle, using full-spectrum lighting if natural light is insufficient.
Temperature: Maintain a stable temperature between 65-75°F (18-24°C). Avoid drafts and extreme temperature changes.
