    I realize this was from 2013, but I had to add this! The 83 is THE BEST year for the eldo. It is quite evident that you invested great effort ionto keeping a car this old looking so amazingly brilliant! I hope you were able to get a great price for all your average.

    I know this is 3 years old, but I had to tell you just how great a job you did on this car! I had a 1982 Biarritz with the same colors and a continental grille. It was totaled by a drunk driver. People talk smack about the HT 4100 engine but mine never gave me a hint of trouble and road and looked brand new like yours. Hop you got a great price for all your hard work!

    Those Cadillacs were really something! My bros. and I bought a 79 Deville d' Elegance for our Mom. When she passed (RIP MOM) I took the car and figured I'd keep it til some thing major went wrong. I had t hat car for 14years!!! 386k ON THE ORIGINAL ENGINE AND TRANS! when I traded it in! Should have kept it. Engine still ran like a top! I had wanted to get an Eldo for Mom. But she favored the deVille . The one we got was a real workhorse!

    You were so lucky to have owned such a beauty in such phenomenal shape. It must have killed you to give it up..I know it would have me. You just don't find them like this anymore, because I have looked, and if you do find them, they want way too much money for them. Thanks for the vid, and would love to see what you drive now. =)

      Thank you Nightbird. I loved this car and it was a beautiful driver! In retrospect, I probably should not have sold it, but admittedly, I was scared a bit of the bad reputation of the 4100 motors, even though this one never gave me any trouble. It was a beautiful cruiser for sure and brought back a lot of great memories of my Mom and Dad's 1981 Eldorado which had a similar color interior, although theirs was black on the outside. Now, this may seem surprising, but I'm an AMC fan and this is a video of what I currently drive, but am restoring it to be a replica of the Hornet used in the Bond movie from 1974 called "The Man with the Golden Gun". 1974 Hornet Hatchback by AMC

    I just bought an 1983 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz with 6,800 miles. Its 100% original except fluids. I owned one when brand new in triple white with blue dash and carpet and never loved a car more. I have owned many high end cars ranging from this to my current two 250K cars. None I love more than the 83 Eldo. Your car was spectacular and funny thing is you only live up the street from me. I just now found your video. Would love to talk more. I wanted to find out where you got the tires as they are perfect replacements for my original tires. I don't know how to reach you without leaving my email address. I also live in Palm Springs. Hope to talk soon.. Btw, yes to everyone. They weren't the best but when they were running correctly they were. My car after 5 years had only 26K miles but warranty rebuilt my engine twice and transmission 3 times during the warranty period. The last engine and transmission rebuild was so perfect that I drove across country with a U-Haul attached to the back and drove it 3 more years without one single issue. Key is to keep up with the tabs and fresh fluids. I am waiting with bated breath for my museum piece to arrive. It is on your old cars level. What an amazing car you had. I don't think I ever saw that car running around the city nor advertised for sale. Yes, the 83 was the best of all the years as you could get a Bose sound system (as mine had and now will have) and you still have all the chrome trim dash. Thank you for sharing. To bad I am two years too late. I know If your still in the same home I can possibly stop over and say hello.

    I bought an 84 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz ASC convertible last July with 40,000 origin miles
    I would like to know what do I have to do on the 4100 aluminum block engine to maintain it,check the coolant every time I go out to see if theirs any leaks. I have been told by several people that the 4100 can be a nightmare if not properly maintained
    so my question is what do I do to maintain the 4100?
    I replaced the rad just last September and new coolant and pelted too and I was told to drive the car to disolve the pelted which I did before put the car away in winter storage.
    The other thing is the radio
    it's does want to work? fuse? or is it more work to get it to go on and the power attends doesn't seem not to go up?
    I'm learning a lot about this car but it's has some small issues. I'm not selling it ether,I just want to maintain it at a reasonable cost.
    If you have any other advice is appreciated.
    Tim G you seem to know a lot about this beautiful well designed automobiles but their flau is the HT 4100

      +David Beveridge Hi David, seems that you are on the right track. Just don't ever let your 4100 motor overheat and keep up with the pellets and I think driving it is the best thing to do, as cars that sit for long periods of time do develop leaks and the gaskets and seals dry out. Cars are designed by their nature to be driven, sitting is the worst thing for them. Not an electrician here, so hard to provide any guidance on the radio issue. Could very well be a fuse or something internal to the radio unit itself. The power antennae has a plastic strip with gears on it and over time the gears break off or get stripped. From what I understand, you have to take off the fender and replace the unit. Good luck with your Eldorado. Would be great to see pictures of it.

    Did you sell the car and how much are you asking if you didn't? Nice car, I had two with that body style, one was ans 82' Black with grey leather interior and grey 1/2 Landua roof with sunroof, but it was a diesel...ugh! And then I had an 84, it was a light brown with matching interior, but gasoline, both cars rode very nice, but you could hear the diesel coming a block away...LOL GM never seems to learn.

    Where did you find those tires!? They look sweet with the wire caps.

    • @tag723
      @tag723  10 лет назад +3

      Found them on E-bay from a company called Tucker Tire company who makes tractor tires of all things. I think they have long since discontinued these whitewall tires, but do a search for Tucker Tires and maybe you'll get lucky!

      The tires came from a company called Tucker. I found them on-line searching..I think I found them on E-bay. It took me six months to find them. I'm not sure if they are still manufacturing these tires or not, but I do remember the name of the company was Tucker. Hope that helps!

    • @tag723
      @tag723  10 лет назад

      Thank you! I really enjoyed this car! It finally sold for $6,800 at a auction in Palm Springs, CA and the buyer ended up shipping it overseas to Germany. I saw it sometime later for sale on a website in Germany, but it must have sold again, as I haven't seen it anymore.

    What can one dfo to preserve a motor like this and drive it daily ?? Is it powerful enough ??

    • @tag723
      @tag723  9 лет назад +1

      +scully You have to use the pellet supplements from GM for the radiator to preserve the 4100. Also, be sure to be vigilant about checking the oil and make sure there isn't any coolant in the oil. Don't drive it hard. These motors, unfortunately, weren't very powerful, so going up steep grades can be a challenge!
