      Some shopping info: looking on Amazon for low temp charging protection, Lossigy's "12.8V 200Ah-Max" seems to have it, still at 100A continuous discharge. Their regular 200Ah battery, with no low temp protection, is $45 cheaper than the Max version. The 300Ah model is the cheapest one with 200A continuous discharge. Good video, and good channel too, thanks.

    Purchased 2 x 150ah Liitokala from Aliexpress and look exactly the same. First capacity was 120ah and the BSM low voltage protection didn't cut off so cut it open and Pouch cells. Fitted a Daly 100A but sadly can't top balance it. Cell pack one runs away once hits 3.5v.
    Second battery is 97ah but the BMS low voltage disconnect at least. Internal build isn't as good as yours and the BMS is a lot smaller and on the top.
    £350 for 220ah is still cheap though

      @@LithiumSolar their last reply yesterday when I stated the second battery, despite fully recharged to 14.6v then multiple capacity tests which failed to exceed 98ah so I want the matter sorted.
      *quote, Dear customer, Our batteries are 100% genuine and the capacity also matches the description. It takes a long time to detect the battery capacity through three steps, and it takes a long time (1 full charge, 2 recharges, 3 charges) to detect the real capacity of the battery.
      The test results will be affected by test conditions (such as temperature, line loss, test equipment, test parameters, etc.), please conduct multiple tests and average the results to reduce deviation. Thank you for your understanding!

    I always thought that 'pouch cells' could be an awesome functional battery if someone could make a secure way to create series/parallel connections with nuts & screws. Honestly, this is the first time I haven't seen a mess of solder all over the tabs. They are well protected under the metal case, well separated by foam sheets- I like it. I thought it might be lighter than AL cased prismatics- who knew? Thanks for the review, the price is reasonable as well.

    I bought 2 Lossigy batteries from Amazon last December, but now they say they won't ship to my address.I want to get more, and I saw that one manufacturer on Amazon said if you mix brands, make sure you use batteries with the same brand of BMS. I am having great difficulty determining the BMS brands used in different LiFePo batteries. If the ratings are the same, does it really matter?

      I did a super-quick search and don't see them being sold anywhere, so I doubt you'll be able to easily get one. That being said, while it can be serviced, it's highly unlikely someone would actually bust open the case to repair the battery. I don't see that being done for anything other than recycling/salvaging once the battery is spent.

    Hi
    I was wondering if you could point me to instructions for building a 48v battery from 16 lifepo4 31AH pouch cells. Each pouch is 10 cm wide x 27 cm long x 1 cm deep; there is a 2 cm extension on each end of the pouch (making it a total of 31 cm long) plus a 2 cm tab on each end (presumably for connecting to it electronically). I also have a xiaoxiang BMS (SP16S020 16 S 100A lifepo4 3.2v uart common port with balance) which I believe allows me to control the bms through bluetooth from my android phone.
    My biggest challenge (at least at the start) is to determine what hardware I need to compress the cells together and connect the cells together. Naively, I was thinking about getting two aluminum plates 34.5 cm x 5 cm x 16 cm and some 20 cm bolts and nuts to go with them that I could place the pouches between. But I also need hardware to connect the leads and I have no idea where to start looking for any of this. Any thoughts? Can you point me to any manuals or diy instructions to help me out?
    Thanks . . .
    Phil

    That depth-of-discharge chart - I think that's purposefully misleading. 100% would be one full cycle, 33% would be three to a full cycle - they're calling each of those a cycle and hoping no one will notice. 8,000 at a third total discharge = 2,666 cycles measured in the usual way.

    • @LithiumSolar
      @LithiumSolar  2 года назад +1

      I think you're mis-understanding. A "cycle" is a discharge event followed by a charge event. A "cycle" does not define the depth of discharge. You could take a 100Ah battery, use 5Ah from it, then recharge it. That's one "cycle" and is why we typically specify depth of discharge in addition to cycle counts.

    • @wanderingzythophile9083
      @wanderingzythophile9083 2 года назад

      It's my understanding that when talking about cycle life, a cycle is the equivalent of a full discharge (to whatever safe level based on the chemistry) and recharge.
      Everything I've seen on LiFePo4 cells has 2500-3500 cycle life specified - this battery's documentation says up to 8000? Doing the math like I did above makes it fit with the usual cycle life specs for that chemistry.

      Id go with the lossigy. They have a decent build quality.

      I have 2 Lossigy 200 amp hour versions and they have been really impressive for over 6 months now. Outback VFXR3524 inverter and FX80 charge controller. Plus a Battleborn surge controller, as I run the batteries down to where the inverter shuts down once or twice week at night. It runs a 15 amp chop saw no problem. The batteries don't even get warm.

      they are the same chemistry but in foil packets. Not sure if the difference is significant but yes they are lighter

      I don't see why not. You cannot connect it directly to the car's battery or the alternator though. You have to use a DC-DC charge controller for LiFePO4 in between.

      @MauiMotionsports: It is Lithium iron phosphate battery and not Lithium-ion one

    You have nothing bad to say about the battery? But you seemed concerned about the loose positive bolt? Come on!

    • @LithiumSolar
      @LithiumSolar  2 года назад +6

      Because all it takes is a $0.02 washer to fix that "problem". It's hardly even worth noting, but chose to include it because these reviews are intended to be completely open and honest.

    I use this for my trolling motor and my Newport X Series 55lb thrust fried after about 5 months, I now have a MinnKota and it states "Power Output
    Lithium Batteries maintain higher voltages for longer. Motors engineered to make the most of flooded lead acid batteries can be damaged by the higher power output. To prevent this damage when using Lithium batteries you should not run your motor at its highest speeds, staying at 85%/Speed 8.5 or lower." Is this why my Newport fried and is there a fix for this? THank you for any input on this you can offer.

    I think I'll pass on pouch batts. Litime has a mini with 16 pouch batts and I think more parts = more problems. I had a chance to get USBtime 100AH pro version which has a kick ass BMS but now they replaced it with a 35lb 110AH. I know like their 95AH at are grade B cells 80% left in the tank. No thanks. I got lucky with the pro version. Now I got Bunfloe in my cart with low temp, not that I really care. However, It matches the time cells and I don't even know if you can mix pouch cells in series or parallel. Anyways this is my two cents, don't be the first to try out some random cell battery pack. Their is a reason why most cells are the same. When something is done right it can be copied over and over. Hell, It now cost more to build your own pack. lol
