Fact: this was the first ever full race I’ve ever watched. From here I have started to watch all NASCAR full races and rarely missed a Cup race.

What's crazy is this was only 9 years ago and there are only 12 drivers from this race who are still racing at all in NASCAR today. Keselowski, the Busch brothers, Bowyer, Harvick, Johnson, Hamlin, Logano, Newman, McDowell, Truex and Almirola.
And then only 11 after 2020 with Johnson retiring. And I’m a Johnson fan and this is going to be a rough season for me and the Johnson fans. I hope Johnson has an amazing farewell season.

mkwrockers0099 Well, he said himself that he never really retired, he was more or less on a break from nascar as he continued racing in other things and it wasn’t his choice to leave the #20 car. Also, even after he left Gibbs, he still filled in for drivers like Bayne. So he never really retired.

Talladega super speedway should have lights for a night race someday

Also the grandstands are shaped in a weird way so that would be hard, wild thought though

They probably won’t because compared to Daytona, Talladega doesn’t have a major Highway running behind the trioval area like Daytona does, and there are a lot of shopping districts there too.

Fun fact: the end of this race is when they first discovered just how strong the 2-car tandem was. SS racing competely changed until the Gen 6 debuted and the bumpers didn't line up
i would argue the two car tandem was really displayed first at the end if the 2009 race

I remember trick or treating after this race in a Jeff Gordon costume and ran into another fan who watched this live too, and we talked about it for a bit. My poor mom waited until we were done to keep going around.
I miss Bobby Labonte, Robby Gordon, Mark Martin, Marcos Ambrose, Elliott Sadler, and Dale Jr plus Regan Smith and Biffle this race has some of my favorite drivers ever
