This was my first time watching one of your videos. We live in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, USA. That is a LOT of food you got in your food boxes. In our area, there is no cost for the food boxes, but the boxes are pretty small. There are usually about a half dozen canned foods, 1 frozen meat, usually ground beef or ground turkey, 1 quart of shelf stable milk, a bag of cereal, peanut butter, jelly, sometimes bread, and cookies. Then we also get to choose as much as we need or want of things such as assorted flour (whole wheat, rice, almond, white), assorted dry beans, dry peas, dry lentils, and sometimes assorted spices and salts. This is available 3 Fridays per month. In addition to that, the senior center in our little mountain town always keeps an abundance of foods for anyone in the community to take. Several times a year, they get lots of freezer meat such as sausages, chicken, salmon, perch, hot dogs, pork chops and it is free for anyone to take. For the past 2 months, there has been a mobile pantry coming here with beautiful fresh produce, baked goods, canned goods, etc - and most of the community turns out for this big event, even the town mayor. People are allowed to fill 2 large bags with whatever they want, and there is no cost. Many people here also live off grid, and everyone benefits from the food pantry and mobile food truck and senior center food bank. There are times when food trucks can't get up the snowy mountains to deliver groceries to the one little grocery store here, so these places to get free food are very much appreciated. I liked your video, and will watch again. I thought you might like to know how things are done in a different part of the world!!

Boba or bubble tea is a choice
I love milk teas but I don't like to chew my tea, so no boba for me. My daughter, on the other hand, loves the boba. I would rather brew some Thai tea, add some cream and sweetener and enjoy. We are all different and like different things.

My kids and I love bubble tea but I don’t like matcha flavor. I usually get a dairy free brown sugar flavored drink. We usually buy our bobas at a local shop. More and more specialty boba shops are opening and more restaurants serve boba now. We often get “extra boba” in our drinks and one drink costs about $7 CAD so it’s a bit of a treat!! We’ve never had a hot boba drink though and the shops here don’t sell them hot. Also - glad to hear your Patreon is starting out so well! ❤

I'm very fortunate to have 3 different food pantries to go to for free. Two of them are every 2 weeks and one is once/month. We get a lot of ground beef, chicken and fish (We don't eat fish at all so they usually give me 2 ground beef). I drink nothing but tea (hot or iced) but I don't care for boba tea. I saw in your video Vegemite. I was wondering about the coconut cream in your coffee why you didn't use tins, or even coconut milk. You can get powdered coconut milk, not sure of the size etc. Not a bad hamper. That extra meat is great value. I think someone wanted to be in the video!

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  7 месяцев назад +1

The problem is the emulsion of it, we have one of those whizzy sticks to help, but even with that, a lot of them separate and split, or go chunky. The powdered stuff works really well in our hot chocolate mix! but it just doesn't do the same as what we're after for hot coffee, its only the hot coffee its an issue with! Nearly everything else we've adapted lol.

The style of work I was doing is difficult, because it was very autonomous, I didn't have to work set hours, just get everything done within a 24-48 hour turnaround, I didn't have to be available at all (I checked emails multiple times a day, but didn't need to to be contactable per se) It was also paid on the basis of the work received, not how long it took me to do, so as my skills progressed, I was getting a much higher equivalent hourly rate than I was at the start kinda thing, if that makes sense.
The work I'm doing with D is ok paid, and there's enough hours of it available, its more that it gets paid on a completion of project kind of basis, not a set pay run, so it takes a little more juggling to make the budget work :)

Just a friendly reminder TEMU products are rip off copies from original designers. A lot of the manufacturing is done by children and really underpaid adults. A quick search and you can see this for yourself so there is no need to take my word for it. Obviously you are entitled to do as you wish with no pressure. I ordered once through them and then did a bit more research and realised what was going on.

Those Kara ones are the best for using in the coconut curried white sauce I make ...
    .. using either
    Tuna
    Chicken
    Sausages
    And sometimes prawns.
    In the sauce..
    Served over rice.
    Sometimes
    With mixed vegetables thrown in.
Give it a try .. delicious.

Yum! :D. we tend to just use the tin coconut milk from aldi for most of the cooking, being its the cheapest way to buy it! but I'll have to give using kara a go :D

Never justify your coffee ☕️ creamer 😅😅😅. Ever heard the joke-I love my coffee like I love my man- international- we have a creamer that uses the saying international creamer. Hahaha ❤😅😅

lol, I wish I could drink it black like my tea, then it wouldn’t be such an issue lol, but I definitely like milk in my coffee!

Weet-bix(original) is my GOTO for starving teenagers. Plus home baked goods. Chicken and vegetables pies and salad sandwiches for after school. You can never fill them up.
Have you ever tried the old fashioned caramel made with brown sugar. Egg. Flour. And milk.?
I used to make healthy spring rolls baked in the oven also. Good video.

The kids aren't much fans of cereal other than at breakfast time, too spoiled I spose lol! We also tend to run out of rice milk before the end of each shopping cycle and they don't much like cereal with anything else, creatures of habit! They will eat granola with almond milk or yoghurt etc though, but we do mostly porridge in winter, but again, they don't tend to reach for it for any meal but breakfast, maybe I'll try suggesting it!
I haven't tried the caramel, I'll have to have a google, I don't think I've ever made a caramel with flour!
I have spring roll pastry in the freezer for this month, I just haven't got around to rolling them, normally I stuff them full of cabbage too and no cabbage this month!
