I agree with the simple stuff, I've always liked the 4 or 5ch amps for full, simple systems. I recently got a PDX-M12 and I should have a video up soon. Can't wait to see more with the minivan, I've been contemplating getting a Honda Odyssey for the past few years to "pimp out"....just because nobody does it and to be different.
I doubt my wife will let me buy a minivan, but we'll see...lol. I personally think they are pretty cool, especially when slightly modified (wheels, stereo, etc). I like what you've done so far to your Montana. Those wheels look SWEET!!

@@AnthonyJ350 I couldn’t find anything with the same footprint, output and number of channels when looking for a replacement. Even the new Type R amps were too big for me. I would have gotten the PDX again if they were still available in my area!
@@AnthonyJ350 No I didn’t but I’m sure they would have been good too. JL is quite hard to find in NZ. But Focal is widely available here and I got the FXP 4.800, it’s not a 5 channel like the PDX but worked well as a 3 channel, after I re-wired the rear speakers to the headunit.
The Alpine PDX-V9, until this day, is the best 5 channel amp, in my opinion. Not sure if I should pay full price or from Amazon (maybe even Ebay). I'm a DIYer, would like to know how everything works, before I have someone else do it for me. What would you recommend Anthonyj350? Also reading, opens up a whole new world, to some people. 👍👌🤘
I totally agree with with purchasing the Alpine V9. It's an amazing sounding amp and hard to beat for the money. I have one installed in my 350Z as well. I would look into purchasing at a local install shop and price match with Amazon. Much easier to get warranty support that way.
@zx7rkawa99 So far so good. Played it for 3 hours on the initial install (truck on the charger in the shop) at 3/4 volume with no issues. My mid range took a beating that day :)
Not too sure how it is these days, but when I was younger and a insane audiophile.....generally when talking high end amps and cost, the rule was usually....a dollar per watt. It was a pretty good gauge of what you were gonna spend.
Great install! I just got my pdx-v9 in today after watching your video earlier this year. What i have is the JL 6.5 c5 componants in the front and 6.5 c5 coaxial for my rears with with 2 12w3v3 4 ohm subs. Do you think this single amp will be enough? My plan is to add a second pdx-v9 down the road and bi-amp the whole set up if this feels under powered. All this is going in a 2011 charger. Any recomendation?
2 PDX V9 would be much more efficient. You would be maxing out the sub output trying to drive 2 12" W3's. Make sure you put on really good wiring on that amp. Hope you like how it sounds!
Have you seen any issues with the amp over heating? I’m installing this amp right now in a Subaru Forester rear compartment between the spare tire and the removable floor cover. Wondering if I should install a vent fan.
I did when I I spaced it up 1/4" and it was too close to the bottom of the seat. It would go into thermal protection after 5 hours of driving. I have removed the spacer and seems to be fine now.
I ordered this amp to power two full range speakers and a sub. I read the owner's manual on page 14 and still did not understand how to bridge this amp for three channel play. Do you wire it like any other bridged amp or is it all in the 1/2 channel switch like the owner's manual seems to insinuate?
Dan Olympiadis I think they sound pretty good. You get a lot of definition if you use fast rings on your speakers. Plus the gain you get in efficiency and space is worth it.
Hello I know this is a old video, but what do you think about this amp? My dad is thinking about putting this in his truck with the following gear Alpine SPR-50C 2 sets all around, 2 Rockford fosgate P1 10’s paired with the pdx-v9, is it very clean sounding?
Thanks for the feedback! My dad has always been into car audio, he has been out of it for years now but he is getting back into it, he has always loved alpine, because of there hi fidelity, one more question, the double din in your 350z, can it play FLAC off a usb? Because that is the double din my dad might put in his truck
@anthonyJ350, would that amp be able to power 2 12" sub-woofers kickers (07DCVR122), JBL gto629 for the front and JBL gto939 for the back? I need to know if it would be just enough to make the speaks and subs reach it's potential or would be more than enough. I am hoping it would be more than enough, just so I know i have that option if i need to change speakers or something like that down the line. thanks in adv
+Lee Yo You could run one 12 with this amp. If you're planning on pushing 2 I would look into a two amp set up. 4 channel and a mono block. And high quality thick gauge wire.
+AnthonyJ350 yea i have been told that but i would like to just use one amp if possible. i might be mistaken but it's hard to believe that there isn't an amp out there that is powerful to bring out the best sound on all speakers inside the car and the sub.
