      Oh yes the black dial rose gold Duograph is beautiful, not sure I could pull off the pistachio but it looks good and I love that Breitling wasn't afraid to try a quirkier color. Even though seemingly every brand put out a green dial this year, at least Breitling picked a shade that no one else did :)

    Great assessment. I really love the Pistachio dial. New at full msrp it’s a bit much for me right now but at some point I’m planning on owning one. I agree that the b09 is a lot nicer than the B01on the eyes. I also think a beautiful in house manual wind movement is a good way to separate themselves from their competition. Overall great releases, I love Breitling and have nothing but positive things to say about all these new releases from them.

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 года назад

      💯Breitling's making all the right moves lately and I'm so glad they're putting the manual wind movements into more of their watches, they look better, make the watch thinner, and with 70 hours of power reserve you don't even need to wind it every day so really it's all positive -and if the winding action is anything like the B01 then it's a treat when you wind it too :)

    • @WatchUnwind

    Great Video as usual Bro, like that B spiced up the collection with new movements. The Design is definately Luxury Chrono. With the salmon dial I did get some Patek vibes but that said, they have their own heritage. Was a fun video bro, keep it up and look forward to the next one.🙏🏻👍🏻
    by the way, B nails it with their online events. To me it really doesnt make sense as a manufacturer being at W&W. First day Rolex and Tudor steal all the attention and alll the releases there show there are as well, same time on the website. But that are just my 2 cent...

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 года назад

      I completely agree, Breitling jumped on the online release format quickly and is really using it to their best advantage - even with this they got all the exposure/attention they would have gotten if they had participated in WW, but without having to pay to be a part of it, and they'll still do other releases throughout the year. Meanwhile everyone else that participated essentially was paying to be in Rolex's shadow as well as fighting over attention amongst themselves.

    It is great to see this review, specially on the Datora "homage" on PP5270 thing ... I have seen some youtubers taking the easy path to produce this statement ignoring the history behind Breitling and the fact that they set the state of the art for a Chronograph lay-out that all the other brands then followed (before we had just monopushers) and that the premier line goes back to the 40s (i.e. ref 734) that they have revived now... spot on review!!!

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 года назад

      Glad you liked the video! Whenever I see any watch that at a glance might be considered an hommage I always try to look into the history & context of it first to understand if it's indeed that or there's more too it, and more often than not especially from established brands the story is much more than "oh its an hommage of __________" a similar thing happened when the Chronomaster sport came out.
      I will say they may have (possibly intentionally) invited the comparisons by picking a salmon dial, but the dial layout and inspiration is clearly all vintage Breitling 785, 805 and 734 as you mentioned. Considering both Patek & Breitling draw on their respective 1940s models for their modern models it's no surprise that they look similar - in the same way that when multiple brands reach back to the 70s or any other decade there are bound to be certain design cues that defined that era of design.
      Thanks for watching & commenting :)

      @ShahLusso  3 года назад

      Thanks! Glad you liked the video! Well for the Tudor range you can always get the BB Chrono with a B01 in it, best of both worlds :D
      I will say though I used to think Breitling was too expensive too, especially their 7750 equipped models not really bringing much added value to justify their prices, but the last few years I've seen them really push in terms of going more in house, evoking more of their history, bolder & more differentiated designs. I think over time we'll see even the value retention come up as a result of that.

    I gotta save up for that Premier B09 40... I hope they release other dial colors in steel - black would be nice. It would also be nice to see Breitling redo a flyback chronograph!

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 года назад +1

      For sure, more dial colors would be great - while I applaud them for the ballsy move of making a pistachio dial (as opposed to the same shades of green that the industry is obsessed with this year) it's probably not a color I'd actually go for, but in black or blue it'd be amazing.
      As for the flyback, I'd say the chances are pretty good - since they've already done a split seconds then the next logical chronograph variant would be a flyback :)

      Yeah it's a stunning looking watch. Both the Datora & the 5270 have their roots in early 1940s complete calendars so makes sense that they share some DNA since the orignal versions both looked similar too, doesn't hurt that the Breitling doesn't cost 6 figures either 🤣

    I agree with your explanation of watch change interval and Automatic/Hand-wound movements...still I always prefer Automatics without having a true explanation for it

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 года назад +1

      Heheh too each their own & it never hurts to have an auto just in case, but with today's long power reserves I think the older objections to having a manual are less relevant than they were back when power reserves were 48 hour or less.
      As for pushing outside the Navitimer line I think that's a great move from Breitling, they're avoiding being a one-trick pony and depending too much on just one iconic model

  • @PeteMcConvill
    @PeteMcConvill 3 года назад

    Nice take. For what its worth, I would like to see an inhouse B0XX (whatever one they choose) in the avenger line. So the range would be Navitimer (timeless), Premier (30s-50s), Aviator (50's-70s), Chronomat (60s-90's), Avenger (contemporary). Quality across the board. Obviously these divisions arent hard and fast but would provide a combination of spread, predictability and some flexibility.

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 года назад

      💯 it'd be great to see an in-house movement make its way into the Avenger line - I can only assume that must be in the pipeline since they've put the B01 in almost every other collection, and it'd be great to see them come up with an in-house 3 hander to start phasing out the ETA/Sellita and the Tudor movements. Then they'd have a nice, diverse range that caters to everyone and with it all being in house, they'd be a force to be reckoned with

    • @PeteMcConvill
      @PeteMcConvill 3 года назад

      @@ShahLusso Yeah - I really don't know what breitlings plans are for an inhouse three hander. Back in 2018 Kern flat out said one was coming, then in 2020 said he didn't see the point as no inhouse movement was likely to make their watches better. Maybe their inhouse movement fell over? Maybe they've decided to invest all their resources into chrono's and argue if you can make a split second chrono you've got nothing to prove with a three hander?

  • @TrumanBurbankFE
    @TrumanBurbankFE 3 года назад +3

    Finally they are moving towards respectability again. Now they have to invent an in-house three hander w some antimagnetic properties, double balance bridge, chronometer standard and 70ish power reserve. To succeed, the entry level models have to be able to compete w their own movement and finally ditch the ETA and also stop relying on Tudor's MT 5612 for eternity.

    • @coolgabe64
      @coolgabe64 3 года назад +1

      You are right. That B01 movement is world class and they can base all their chronographs on that. Now they need to develop a non-chrono movement in-house. That should be the next step forward.

    • @ShahLusso
      @ShahLusso  3 года назад +1

      My guess is that possibly the B25 could be a step in that direction, even though its still a chrono for now & its not strictly in house (developed by Concepto) it's got much more input from Breitling when compared to the ETA or Tudor movements, so hopefully this could be a a sign that they're moving that little big closer to ditching those
