They are very refreshing with extremely intelligent and clever lyrics and puns with societal references all over the place that’s missing today in rap.
SO YOU LOVE BARS? WELCOME TO THE PETE AND BAS WORDSMITH WELL They have put out over 30 bangers in SEVEN YEARS. An album, 'Quick Little Mixtape', and two sold-out live UK tours. These two ex-gangsters deliver the lot, bars, schemes, cadences, and timing with charisma and swagger that's unmatched. Together with the world class productions by their grandsons, 91Shots and Handsome Dexter, who also have started rapping as Nine and Dex, this whole project is unstoppable! Start with..... 'Sindhu Sesh' 'Longthorne Shotgun' 'Plugged-in with Fumez the Engineer' (FUMES, as in smell) 'Gangster Sh*t' 'Browns' 'Bish Bash Bosh' 'Mr Worldwide' 'Stepped Into The Building' 'Quick 1-2' 'The Gentlemen' and the rest all the way back to the beginning are monsters, and all different. Masters 🐐 🐐
@@ethnicalbertYeah, but Pete and Bas are a bit quiet and reserved about their past, other than the song Golf where Pete gives you a timeline of gang activity he was affiliated with. So maybe you're just wrong and a hater 🤷🏻
The only thing that comes close to the feeling of first hearing Pete and Bas is watching others experience it. It’s so hard to find new genuine first time reactions so finding this today is awesome. You’re going to love all of it. Every suggestion I’ve read on hear would be a great place to start… enjoy my man, I’m subbed and looking forward to more of your content
I'm an older hip-hop head myself since '83, and i love introducing Pete & Bas to my unsuspecting friends. They're legit! That's coming from someone who's favorite mcs include Del, Kool Keith, Black Thought, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Planer Asia, Madchild, Heiroglyphics, Swollen Members, Big Pun, Pharoah Monch, Living Legends, Freestyle Fellowship, Schooly D, Ultramagnetic MC's, Stetsasonic, etc. If you want more dope songs with great bars and back and forth, which is almost every song by them, then i recommend: "Gangsta Sh*t," "Longthorne Shotgun," "Stepped into the Building," "Mr. Worldwide," "Bish, Bash, Bosh," "Sendu Sesh," "Plugged in w/ Fumez," "Pint & a F*g," "The Old Estate," "Lightwork Freestyle," "Quick 1-2," "," and "Get Low." These are all found on different channels, so i compiled the definite best of here. Loved the reaction and can't wait to see more reactions to these genius mcs! Peace.
This is a quality reaction video, you done exactly what you said and called it for what it was! You are in for a right treat, The boys don’t miss and the production is class!!
I saw them Yesterday in Oslo, Norway. Was loads of fun, but poor Pete seemed to run out of steam in the one hour show. They were definitely rapping, though had their own recorded vocals in the background.
These old boys are Cockneys, South Londoners who commonly rhyme in normal conversation, it's called Cockney Rhyming Slang and was developed in the early 19th century to avoid police attention. Pete was a Royal Mail worker in his day but apparently also ran as a toecutter with the Richardson Mob in London, Bas was a piano teacher and musician and is from a family that ran illegal bare-knuckle boxing tournaments... There are also live performances available, if you go back to their very early stuff you'll notice the difference and the improvement over the 7 years they've been releasing tracks...
Tell-a-Husse = Tallahasse. T-pain bars Kofte = Fancy lamb dish. The snap of his fingers fancy food is delivered Wap = British gun slang, basically "piece/thang" (occasionally means "wet ass pussy", use context) Food = Commonly traded illicit substances, implied to be the gentleman's choice of drug, coke. Back = the part of the human body that is behind the face, chest, and front torso respectively. Butt Crack = Refering to the "Intergluteal cleft". Indirectly proportionate to the aforementioned "Back" as stated by Bas
Hussy noun DEROGATORY•INFORMAL a girl or woman who behaves in a disrespectful or inappropriate way or who has many casual sexual relationships. "that brazen little hussy!"
Usual Rapper: grows up save in the subburbs, starts rapping and then tries everything to become something like a "gangsta". Pete&Bas live a life kinda like a gangsta all along and THEN decide to rap about it. And that better than 90% of the young dudes. Now, who's the gimmick?
This is my new favorite Pete & Bas Reaction. You just got a new sub. I respect your skepticism, and I like your style. This is coming from a 56 year-old hip-hop, reggae, ska, punk, rock afficionado. I will be checking out more of your channel.
Bish Bash Bosh, Sindu Sesh, Stepped Into the Building. 3 more of my faves. Your reaction to T-Pain, is my favorite so far!❤ EDIT: Had to come back and add Longthorn Shotgun. Impeccable flow, and fire bars.
I'm a huge fan. I went to London to see them live a couple months ago. They're amazing. Their little gang was there with them. They signed autographs afterward, then walked down the block to the pub to party with the crowd. I carried a sign that said "I came all the way from Texas to see you." Pete threw me his pink tie and then signed it for me after the show. ❤❤❤❤❤
16:37 - "with me tats out" is a triple, tattoos/cheap goods for sale/so then product for sale. It's also a contrast between Pete's boxing skills and Bas bringing the tools when he revisits the bar.
I am a fan of P&B and saw them live in March this year 2024. I would say there is novelty value here but definitely not a gimmick. If you want to know if they are respected then they are, check out 'the coldest link up 2' where they perform and quite honestly match or out perform the rest of the rappers on the track. Bas is a pianist so has musical talent and has just turned his hand to this almost effortlessly. Pete has the aggression and has a knack for the lingo and gets better and better each time they drop. Enjoy. Oh here's a clip of them at The Troxy in London. I then put my phone away and enjoyed the rest of the concert. Super vibes and the crowd were so nice. ruclips.net/video/YU5LRvmQxSY/видео.htmlsi=pQEdCnQSLVbb7ZQ3
Loved your face when they started the flow, been on a huge Pete and Bas session lately. A good next step with them would be Sindu sesh, Mr Worldwide, Longthorne shotgun
I think you'd really appreciate their tracks, "Gangsta Sh*t," "Longthorne Shotgun," "Mr. Worldwide," and "Pint & a F*g." All are pure 🔥! Their back and forths are some of the best I've heard, and their bars are cold af, period! 😎🥶
All of their songs are great! Loved your reaction. I'd say " Bish Bash Bosh" came out just before this one. That would be fun to see you react to. Also, they aren't the only ones! They have "Windowframe Cypher 1&2" with more older gentlemen rapping with them! 😄😄
I've watched this 5 times in 3 days. when you go from being dubious before you press play to the moment your face lights up when you realise these guys are the shit! It makes my day man.
They just released a remix FT TPain with a new verse by them Today. They mix modern and old slang. They ahve a whole group of old men rappers with legit experience in the underworld (most of them)
This is one of the most enjoyable reactions I’ve seen in a while. I appreciate your genuine reactions and the lack of over the top physical actions and outrageous yelling. You got yourself a new subscriber.
Bow Bells are the bells of a church in East London. If you are born within the sound of these bells you’re considered to be a Cockney, a true East Ender…
Loved this reaction! I knew you were going to love them. I've subscribed as I want to witness your deep dive. My faves are Golf, Sindu Sesh, Plugged In with Fumes, Stepped into the Building, Quick Lil freestyle, Mr Worldwide There are so many. Can't wait
Welcome to Pete and Bass! A rabbit hole well worth going down. Glad to see you've opened yourself up to these guys. I've been listening to rap since the '80's. This is some great shit! Better than most of the stuff in the US by far.
From what I've learned in my P&B rabbit hole, they've had some help with a couple of grandkids. I'm not saying the grandkids wrote everything by any means. I wasn't there. But based off their own words, one of Pete's grandkids actually got him liking the hip hop they were listening to. He then convinced Bas to join him in this music venture. Now, it's should go without saying that old folks wouldn't be hip to modern slang that younger artist. But, they say that they provide the words, and they have some grandkids that provide beats. Now, I'm a firm believer that they had help at least at the begining of their rap career with keeping the slang current. But even if that don't write any of the lyrics, the fact that they can deliver the words with flawless execution and many flow switches is enough for me to respect these guys. I love it. And as a musician most of my life, I can't think of any better way for these to guys to spend their golden years...Living it up as fucking rock stars.
Coming from a Detroit area old school hip-hop head, these dude dont miss. Everything is fire. Even their mid songs are miles ahead of pop rap. True gangsta rap, with super clever schemes, and NEVER corny.
When you get through the Pete and Bas catalogue or if you wanna mix it up, check out an Indian rapper who grew up in Houston named Hanumankind.. his big song is Big Dawgs and it's a banger and immediately in the play list. But you would fucking love his track Genghis..
I was 'like' number 1200 on this video (to give some context). I have to say, I've watched a LOT of Pete and Bas reactions, and yours is one of the better reactions I've seen. About 15 seconds after Pete comes in, your eyes get a little big, maybe a little bit of a confused expression.. You turn up the headphones. The head starts bobbing, with or without your permission and an almost giddy smile crosses your face. Genuine AF. Welcome to Pete & Bas. Amazing reaction, keep it up!
Welcome to the rabbit hole. I'm convinced these two are the best lyricists in the game right now. Quick 1-2, Bish Bash Bosh, and Sindhu Sesh are my favorites for just non stop bars.
Nice reaction!!! I was skeptical at first too but their delivery is so smooth and their bars are immaculate. I had to look up a bunch of UK slang but now I get it. Most of their songs are produced by 91 Shots, which is one of their grandkids, who also have their own group Nine and Dex (91 Shots & Handsome Dexter). Dex’s voice sounds so similar to Bas it’s great. Btw Pete is the short one, Bas (short for Basil) is the tall one. For bars: check out “Sindhu Sesh” & “Plugged in with Fumez” For insane Bas flow check out: “Old Estate” & “Golf” A couple of my favorites for flow and lyrics that don’t get mentioned very often but are amazing are “General’s Corner Freestyle” and “Browns” Also to hear them rap with a bunch of other old dudes check out “Window Frame Cyper” - there are two songs, “part 1” and “part 2” There are a bunch of other great songs too… welcome to the rabbit hole…
Nice to hear someone so honest about hip hop and watching you appreciate all those bars. So many miss them Start with Sindhu Sesh then Plugged in with Fumez.
I've been hoping that you would check these guys out. They have all bangers. So many doubles, metaphors, crazy flows, schemes they rap rap. They are very bar heavy. They have live performances on here as well. They do tour Longthorne Shotgun Bish Bash Bosh Stepped into the Building Sindhu Sesh Plugged in with Fumes. Just started reaction. So hopefully I'm not deleting this post at the end of reaction.
The story is they write their lyrics but get the current terminology from grandkids, or nephews, some younger generation relative. I forget their names but they rap also and you can hear the relation with their voices. S sounds like listening to a younger Pete and Bas.
Brother, I was just like you. I was like what no way . I’ve been listening to their music nonstop for the past month. These Dudes are for real. They got bars punchlines delivery flow. Bro they’re fucking wicked and I would pay money to see a live show.
Got your channel recommended to me by RUclips. Just gonna say this once and only once,..... Thankyou RUclips algorithm. You got something right for once. Great reaction. Love the honesty. Thanks.
Nice reaction ❤🔥 Welcome to the rabbit hole that's Pete & Bas. Old G's deserve the respect, simple. I prefer some of their older stuff: "Quick Little Freestyle"; "Lightwork Freestyle"; "The Old Estate"; "Plugged In"; "Bermondsey"; "Mr Worldwide" etc. 👍🏽
I'm not going to lie; this is my first time seeing you and I just paused 4:55 into your video because I think your introduction was legit. I hate long introductions, so you were lucky to make it that far. I subscribed before seeing your reaction. I love seeing people's reactions to artists I like, but I want it to be genuine. You seem no nonsense. Please don't disappoint.
It's even more crazy that not only can they rap rap, but they really about that life. From what I've read they aren't just rappin. They're old school actual gangsters.
20:31 - Yeah, the behind the scenes video with Fumez (said like fumes, paint fumes) the Engineer is a great interview. They also do perform live in the UK, with their producers 91 Shots and Handsome Dexter (who have their own music out now as the duo Nine and Dex.)
@@MoominDoogie That's the lore at least, yeah. I try to be very careful in what I say, only posting what I've confirmed. The story is they are the grandsons that help with writing on top of being the producers and it's plausible since they do resemble each other, but I don't know that *for sure.* Like I know Pete and Bas use stage last names, and I've found Bas's full real name.
respect to you fella love that your being str8 when it comes to your views on the rap game give me the old skool rap to this new day stuff but pete n bas are next level and the only duo id listen to from todays rap artists
Welcome to the Pete and Bas rabbithole! So many bangers, not sure where to steer you first! Mr Worldwide is a bop, stepped into the building is a must, their plugged in with Fumes the engineer session blew them up on the net a few years back and for good reason! Gangster shit, Longhorne Shotgun... just jump in my man, the water's nice! BTW, am seeing these live next month and I'm around your age and era, although from a UK perspective. I also checked out from US hip hop for a bit with mumble rap and autotune. These gents are really smashing it though by any standards! I even saw a reactor call for a collab with them and Coast Contra! 😂 Which would be amazing...
I think they took a while to find their mix, they worked with a few producers over the years and the tone was all over the desk, but Fumez really pulled out their unique qualities and their latest work is fantastic. Fumez is a highly acclaimed engineer and is an important component to the P&B success. Two geezers from the estate raised on Shakespeare and Keats with long musical careers behind both of them.. winning formula.
6:05 This transition is amazing, that sigh, bro went from "why am I doing this? what am I doing with my life" to "hold up this is fire" in about 4 seconds
They are the real deal, flows, bars, they even tour. You should check out all of their stuff as they don't miss and you won't regret it (and they will still amaze you at every step).
Welcome to London geezers. England is full of them. Have a look at The Gentleman or any Guy Ritchie movie. Bas’s Dad owned a bare knuckle gym and was in with the Kray Brothers.
Got my sub. I can definitely respect someone that is both willing to speak their mind and also go into something with fresh ears. People seem to forget that there is just as much wrong with not liking something as there is with liking something. It's all preference and everyone can have their own.
Your reaction mirrored mine exactly 💯 Straight up incongruous shock 😮 Bars like that? How they deliver like this????? Too on time, too...good. Sindu sesh blew my mind
Tell a Hussie - Tellahassee - where TPain from - then later - ringing the Bow bells - if you were born within the sound of the church bells of St Mary Le Bow, then you are a true Cockney. So giving a nod to everyone's roots. Their Cockney accent is hard and just right for this type of music, even for UK ears. East London has a long history of gang history. great reaction - Pete and Bas fans love finding new reactors and watching the respect grow - no, they real and touring uk and europe yet again.
Try Sindhu Sesh, Plugged in with Fumez, Bermondsey, Longthorn Shotgun, Browns, Bish Bash Bosh... There was a "Before They Were Famous" on RUclips which covered some of their back story. If you want to get used to the accent/ lingo, watch some old London gangster movies/documentaries.
My second favorite thing to listening to and pulling apart bars from Pete and Bas is watching someone else being introduced to the best rappers of our generation for the first time. My introduction order to friends: Stepped into the Building Plugged In Longhorne Shotgun T-Pain Bish Bash Bosh Sindhu Sesh Browns
This is crazy, 3yrs ago these vids was gets 40k+ views on all reactions, and still getting these kind of views todays reactions. Pete and bas need more public exposure and collabs because they deserve the highest exposure artists can get. Also check out nine and dex
I’ve been a fan since they first made waves back in 2017, here’s what I know: Yes, it is definitely them on the vocals, they perform live. They did start out kinda gimmicky, I don’t think they expected it to go on for as long as it has. A lot of comments love to say they were gangsters back in the day but they don’t know that. I don’t know why people take them so seriously when they don’t even take themselves seriously. They know it’s absurd and funny so they lean into it. I don’t know that they write their own stuff, or how much their grandkids contribute, but what’s impressive is they’ve improved a lot in the few years they’ve been at it. Their improvement makes me think that they do have some input in the lyrics, but it could also mean that their writers have just gotten better. Whether they write the lyrics or not doesn’t matter to me, nor do any claims about their past. I’m impressed by their ability to ride a beat and they definitely play the role well. Plenty of rappers have used ghostwriters, but not all of them are able to make bangers. Pete and Bas drop bangers after bangers.
Pete and Bas are definitely not a gimmick. I'm a big fan and find them to be better than most young rappers today.

The head starts bobbing, with or without your permission and an almost giddy smile crosses your face. Genuine AF.
Welcome to Pete & Bas. Amazing reaction, keep it up!
By the way, T-pain is from Tallahasse. And also Pete and Bas have done live shows, of which there are videos.
T-Pain is short for Tallahassee Pain
The old dudes are some serious spitters fr man 😂😂 love the reaction bro 🙏🙏
My mans bout to embark on the Pete And Bas Journey... These OGS murder the beats...you in for a treat g and Im here for it...🎉🎉❤❤
This might be my favorite reaction. I love the apprehension in the beginning, turning into appreciation. I felt the same way…
Welcome to the rabbit hole. I'm convinced these two are the best lyricists in the game right now. Quick 1-2, Bish Bash Bosh, and Sindhu Sesh are my favorites for just non stop bars.
A WAP in the UK is a gun.
For bars: check out “Sindhu Sesh” & “Plugged in with Fumez”
For insane Bas flow check out: “Old Estate” & “Golf”
A couple of my favorites for flow and lyrics that don’t get mentioned very often but are amazing are “General’s Corner Freestyle” and “Browns”
Also to hear them rap with a bunch of other old dudes check out “Window Frame Cyper” - there are two songs, “part 1” and “part 2”
There are a bunch of other great songs too… welcome to the rabbit hole…
I would to see an extended video of you going down the Pete and Bas rabbit hole dating back to 2018.
Nice to hear someone so honest about hip hop and watching you appreciate all those bars. So many miss them Start with Sindhu Sesh then Plugged in with Fumez.
My OG’s ❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥superb reaction. Can’t wait for the next one
Apparently wap means weapon in england 😂
I've been hoping that you would check these guys out. They have all bangers. So many doubles, metaphors, crazy flows, schemes they rap rap. They are very bar heavy. They have live performances on here as well. They do tour
Longthorne Shotgun
Bish Bash Bosh
Stepped into the Building
Sindhu Sesh
Plugged in with Fumes.
Awesome reaction - maybe you missed this one "Tell A Hussy" = "Tallahassee" where Tpain originally came from.
their video Gangster Sh** is a FANTASTIC place to start!
their Plugged In with Fumez The Engineer is outstanding too though.
Short one is pete tall one is bas
Brother, I was just like you. I was like what no way . I’ve been listening to their music nonstop for the past month. These Dudes are for real. They got bars punchlines delivery flow. Bro they’re fucking wicked and I would pay money to see a live show.
Got your channel recommended to me by RUclips. Just gonna say this once and only once,..... Thankyou RUclips algorithm. You got something right for once. Great reaction. Love the honesty. Thanks.
Also I subscribed.
The whole video I was thinking are you gonna drink that Guiness or not? 😂
I've subbed for more! Fire reaction 🔥 Pete and Bas - Stepped into the building is LIT ❤
these 2 guys are on tour 100% legit
Alright, man; I was impressed by your breakdown, but I wish you would have given one listen, then all the pauses and breakdown. I'll watch another.
24:19 plugged in with fumez the engineer is where to start
That's the rap equivalent of a drive-by. That's what happened 😂
The grandkids help with the lingo but the gentlemen write their own lyrics I'm told :)
I heard your doubt in the beginning but I knew you would not be disappointed
It's even more crazy that not only can they rap rap, but they really about that life. From what I've read they aren't just rappin. They're old school actual gangsters.
My favorites for bars are Quick 1-2, and sindhu sesh.
Yeah, that last verse in Quick-1-2 is INSANE !!
That’s a real reaction. I’m here usually just for Tom Macdonald. But serious respect to these two. They do sound good
The track in the studio with Fumez is called 'Pete & Bas - Plugged In W/Fumez The Engineer'
20:31 - Yeah, the behind the scenes video with Fumez (said like fumes, paint fumes) the Engineer is a great interview. They also do perform live in the UK, with their producers 91 Shots and Handsome Dexter (who have their own music out now as the duo Nine and Dex.)
I could be wrong but their producers, Nine and Dex, are also their grandsons?
@@MoominDoogie That's the lore at least, yeah. I try to be very careful in what I say, only posting what I've confirmed. The story is they are the grandsons that help with writing on top of being the producers and it's plausible since they do resemble each other, but I don't know that *for sure.*
Like I know Pete and Bas use stage last names, and I've found Bas's full real name.
It is always so fun to watch people's first experience with these 2.They blew me away my first time too😂😂😂
T-Pain did a verse on his Instagram
respect to you fella love that your being str8 when it comes to your views on the rap game give me the old skool rap to this new day stuff but pete n bas are next level and the only duo id listen to from todays rap artists
💯👊
All the way from UK welcome to Pete and baz thank me later 🙏🙂
I really thought you were on point with this video over the others on RUclips 😊. I've subscribed, so keep up the good work and listen to 😊
So there's actually live footage of them in concert. No milli vanilli.
We the people think Pete and Bas Bars on bars are 🔥🔥🔥🔥 they got fans out ere
"Hold up, hold up, hold up!" is the most common Pete & Bas reaction
Welcome to London geezers. England is full of them.
Have a look at The Gentleman or any Guy Ritchie movie.
Bas’s Dad owned a bare knuckle gym and was in with the Kray Brothers.
Got my sub. I can definitely respect someone that is both willing to speak their mind and also go into something with fresh ears. People seem to forget that there is just as much wrong with not liking something as there is with liking something. It's all preference and everyone can have their own.
Your reaction mirrored mine exactly 💯
Straight up incongruous shock 😮
Bars like that? How they deliver like this????? Too on time, too...good. Sindu sesh blew my mind
It was so cool to watch your mind change in real time in Pete's first bar 😂
Wicked reaction vid. Pete and Bas are legit. Subbed.
Just so you know EVERYBODY RUNS IT BACK!! 😂😂😂😂
If you want to get used to the accent/ lingo, watch some old London gangster movies/documentaries.
almost every bar has a double meaning. 🔥🔥🔥
My second favorite thing to listening to and pulling apart bars from Pete and Bas is watching someone else being introduced to the best rappers of our generation for the first time.
My introduction order to friends:
Stepped into the Building
Plugged In
Longhorne Shotgun
T-Pain
Bish Bash Bosh
Sindhu Sesh
Browns
New sub! Love these guys! Try "stepped into the building" and "Bish bash bosh"
This is crazy, 3yrs ago these vids was gets 40k+ views on all reactions, and still getting these kind of views todays reactions. Pete and bas need more public exposure and collabs because they deserve the highest exposure artists can get. Also check out nine and dex
I’ve been a fan since they first made waves back in 2017, here’s what I know:
Yes, it is definitely them on the vocals, they perform live.
