- Opeth has received massive critical acclaim for their combination of progressive influences and annihilating Swedish death metal. These coloured 140g re-issues are a must for fans and collectors alike, having experienced a loving re-master by none-other than Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Amorphis, Sepultura), with guidance from Mikael Åkerfeldt.
The records have been cut at half-speed at the infamous Abbey Rd studios by Miles Showell (ABBA, Beatles), and all artwork carefully restored by Dan Capp; designed the way the band originally intended them to be.

How morningrise was written: Come up with greatest riff ever, follow it up with a better riff
From start to finish, Morningrise is an absolute masterpiece. I always debated myself whether Morningrise or Still life was my favorite album but with time I always found myself returning to Morningrise more often. Now i can say that Morningrise is my favorite album of all time.
"We rehearsed in pitch black darkness, so we could play the songs without looking."
Dave Grohl from Sweden
This guy is so humble, and is probably the best songwriter of our time.
No album in rock music uses the bass guitar in the same way as Opeth did on Morningrise. That makes it amazing.
I honestly think the moment Peter Lindgren and Martin Lopez left, that's when Opeth's sound shifts so far away from what I love about their earlier stuff that they become unrecognizable to me. I can't listen to their music beyond "Ghost Reveries". I don't doubt their musical talent/abilities, and I've tried to give those albums a shot, but they just sound so awful to me. Definitely not my cup of tea when it comes to music (and I listen to all kinds across many genres).
My absolute favorite Opeth album. Something about the guitarwork and those harmonies and counter parts is just unparalleled.
The most humble lead man in metal history 💯❤
De farfalla is amazing on this album. Bass like sings in background of song. one of the best bassist for me. also nordins fills fits songs very good
Mikael on most memorable on morningrise:
In my own ashes, I am standing without a soul
The Night and the Silent Water & To Bid You Farewell are my hits from the album; I always have the latter on my playlist when I go to bed. Sometimes if I’m not yet fast asleep I’ll occasionally get startled by the sudden drum solo towards the end of the song.
Possibly my favorite release from Opeth!
First Opeth record I'v heard, instant love, every album was pure joy and discovery after it, never felt that intensity with any other band since, they surely broke some mold, greatest modern metal band in my book!
First Opeth album I heard, back in 1997 or so, and still my favourite.
I picked this album up when it was released and it is still my favorite of theirs.
Morningrise is definitely one of their best albums. Still Life, My Arms, Blackwater are all right up there as well. It’s like choosing your favorite child. Impossible, but you love them all.
Morningrise was written after the passing of Michael's grandfather and while in pain. It's dark but is a perfect blend of the extremes of heartfelt sadness and rage... pure art. It speaks to me in a way that no other album ever has. Agree with others - there was a certain magic in the first 2 albums that they have never quite attained (but it's close)... Incredible band, nice guy too. Replied to an email I sent him back in the day... very cool dude.
The album that inspired me to start playing guitar. It's a dark, unique gem, underappreciated by fans and the band itself; they made several brilliant albums, but only one masterpiece. One day I want to record a cover of 'Morningrise' from beginning to end. There are so many nuances and beautiful harmonies that it's bound to be a really educational and rewarding challenge.
