  • A grader I designed and my wife helped me build.
I had the idea for this in the late 1980’s, I purchased the blade from John Deere, and used just the blade behind my Ford 8N till 2023.
Built from a John Deere 45 rear blade, the KATANA Grader is able to be completely disassembled by just pulling some pin, then be used as a rear tractor blade.
The KATANA Grader can be operated by one or two people. Works best with one person operating the blade and a second person driving the pull vehicle.
Can be pulled by anything with a ball hitch and enough power to move the dirt.

Rose first bought this John Deere blade used in 1988 to build this very concept. We finally actually got to this in 2023, 35 years later! We needed it to improve dirt roads at our property in southern Utah. It functions absolutely perfectly, a testament to the creative genius of a US Navy Submariner- Rose Scot.
If John Deere was to make these and price them fairly, they would sell a huge number to people with pickup trucks and dirt roads. It’s highly functional and moves lots of dirt in a short amount of time. We paid around $250 for all the metal and parts, less the $400 blade, mostly buying scraps at low price to make it. Overall it is probably around $700 total in parts, used blade, wheels, jacks, axles, hitch and paint. Of course it had to be John Deere colors.
