Dice que lo llamaría "Black" por la pureza del color y por eso no necesaríamente debía ser "Darkness" (oscuridad), incluso sabía que ACDC y Metallica ya tenían trabajos así, por lo cual sería como normal que ella siguiera esas corrientes; "Black" también se referiría a algo como un vacío, profundo y oscuro, misterioso. Dice que en Finlandia hay un lago congelado que parece un agujero negro, y que Tarja - en su agujero negro - tiene todo a la mano, como un mundo misterioso en su palma. Ante todo sigue creyendo que todos podemos encontrar conecciones incluso emocionales con los temas del disco, porque todos tenemos ese lado oscuro o que muchas veces no sabemos por qué actuamos de diferente forma dependiendo de las situaciones. Y que para entender esas cuestiones es necesario un viaje intrapersonal. Por último, dice que ella no ha terminado ese viaje pero como artista comprende que tiene ese lado oscuro, el cual es la fuerza creativa en ella. It's the same for me - when darkness falls, I get more creative and write excellent poems or reports for work or other stuff. There is an extra sparkle and inspiration coming from darkness somehow. Tarja was raised in Finland where darkness dominates. So I understand it's the darkness that helps her create. When it's dark, you go deeper into you and start creating. After all, this Finnish darkness has given birth to the best metal bands and songs in the world!
So great to hear your thoughts about the darker side. You are an expert to bring those darker feelings alive when you sing. That’s why I hear songs like Sadness in the Night over and over. Innocence has the same strength. In songs like that you bring out feelings that must be real. They are real to me even though I’m a positive person with a great life.

I was really expecting her to say the inspiration came from Paulo Coelho or some other writer but it was Annie Lennox, so funny because I was thinking some days ago how she should cover a love song for a vampire, it would fit her like a glove. Also, I wish they would do this more in depth interviews about such complex concepts in Finnish with subtitles because she struggles to explain and one can tell it is a language barrier. And I really wanted to know more. Deeper.
Tarja did struggle but it might be because she's become more fluent in Spanish since she was living in Argentina and talking more Spanish with her family.
I really wish there wasn't that distracting music in the background. When Tarja sings, there shouldn't be spoken words distracting from the music. When Tarja speaks, there shouldn't be music in the background distracting from the words.
Whenever I see pictures of her in the southern tropical regions, it just don't look right. I'm not sure how to explain but she just looks like a girl with northern blood who lives in the south. Here she looks in her element, but judging from the way she walked the snow/ice path she has been in the south too long!

I am sort of struggling to understand what she is talking about when she's referring to this dark side of her / all of us (and she's been talking about that for years now). Is it negative emotions? Sadness? Depression? Maybe even maliciousness or evil? I find that many times when she is asked to explain those concepts further, she doesn't really offer much of an explanation; she is likely to just say that that's up to everyone to interpret in their own way. But, as much as I can very well do that, I'd be very interested to hear what it represents to her. In the end, it is the concept in her work. So I sometimes feel like she doesn't know exactly, like she hasn't worked out the details of her own ideas (same thing with the characters in MWS album), and she is mostly repeating the same few sentences to explain the idea of the concept for each album, but doesn't reveal anything more. Maybe that's her idea of being mysterious, but to me it comes across as unfinished and vague.
Language barrier, at least here, it is so so clear that she couldn't find the words, read the finnish interviews and you will see how everything changes.
