Haven't played DOA6 since 2019. Looks like its time to finally hop back into it - Thanks (no surprise) to the fans who have been making the game better than the actual developers (abandoners) could ever. Thank you so so much for this.
to be precise, doa++ was the C++ port of doa 1 that team ninja made ~25 years ago that was a sort of half-step between doa 1 and what doa 2 would become. then in the late 2000s people were working on modding doa 4 but powerpc assembly code is awful so they ended up having an easier time on doa 3, which is where Gultigargar's DOA 3++ came from, as his goal was a similar intermediate design. Then gameplay modding efforts after that just copied the naming convention. we might've called this mod 6 hard*core if i'd thought about it longer, but it's probably too late for that.
@zukoulou7464 This particular remix was by Koei's sound team with their distinct metal and oriental instrumentation, made for Hayabusa's inclusion in hack-and-slash crossover Warriors Orochi 3, where they renamed it Vivid Ryu. The best version deserves an original name.
there are untextured recreations of Iron Hell and Tao from doa 3, although the slopes on iron hell mess up certain throws so i'm working on Great Wall from 2U to replace it
Looks interesting, however I don't see the point if just a few people install this mod version and is not allowed for tournaments as stuff. As a curiosity and what if scenario for DOA 6 if the support would've continued is a great product.

copypasting my reply from the other thread so other people don't have to go digging for it: the menu UI will support three more characters, i've done an experiment with adding second copies of existing characters in those ui spots and you can do something dumb like both play with the "same" costume because you're "different" characters but it's not very useful or interesting. populating all the data behind that like movelist, costumes, name display, and menu icons is mostly unknowns, that's also why the extra stages don't have unique pictures or name text. without solving the animation import problem you're only going to get another kasumi (or another honoka/raidou situation) out of the existing files and it would still be an enormous amount of work for a not very interesting result i think. i'd rather make stages

At least it's been figured out how to add new ones, just gotta at some point rig out a brand new character or mostly import a missing character (both style and most their animation key frames/frame data) from DoA5 and modify them to be more in line with the style of DoA6. Glad at least... that when that does happen... they won't have to replace a character, they'll be able to co-exist with the base game already because extra slots have already been figured out at this point. Thanks for letting me know. Gives me something to look forward to, as possible at some point... just that a new character has to be rigged up in DoA6 and be put into those extra character slots which will take some time... but eventually it'll be done. Much appreciate the info.

This could have been a decent game if Tecmo actually took it seriously and didn't fill it with microtransactions. Make the fighting system like DOA4 and we are golden.
i'd recommend people interested in a 5 mod look into doing it on the ps3 version(s) because they run decently on rpcs3 and those folks have some netplay solution, while the steam version of 5LR doesn't have lobbies at all and never did.
yup. it'll work with the free core fighters version as well but we assume mai and kula will be de-listed at some point so people might want to buy any third party license dlc sooner rather than later.
there's a link to the patchnotes in the FSD thread, it's quite long to get into the shortest thing i can say is that getting rid of the widely disliked meter system they added make you have to actually play the game's core mechanics (yomi, not fansa) and it actually feels like dead or alive. but that's glossing over a ton of detail
in the thread where it says "Latest gameplay build Beta Update 5 hotfix: download 22 december 2024" the word download is a hyperlink to the files on mediafire
there's a few hundred hours of work on this mod, i think another ten stages would be less difficult than adding new characters. if you want new outfits the community has you covered.
sad this game lost soo many people after them deciding to tone down the "sexy" lol. to me DOA had always had the absolute best animations for throws and counters of any fighting game ever. Better than the likes of tekken. i hope DOA gets a resurgence.
if you've got a modded ps4/5 or whatever the xboxes are called we'd be very happy to have a look at the game data and see if the pc tools work on them, but i wouldn't get my hopes up.
doa 4 cloning project idk. i'm not a doctor but human cloning is probably harder than dinosaurs other than the half-life of dna being too short, which we didn't know in 2004
we don't have animation importing but if you can find somebody to develop an animation converter for the different proprietary animation file formats used in the series.... maybe.

i agree. I think they're shorter on average when fatal rush is gone, there's no breakblow cancels, and you're not doing juggle bounds as often but i doubt anyone has done a survery. environment object combos are certainly shorter. the flow of the match is also way better without break holds and the rest. in the ugslive video where we're playing on throwdown without the crowd i think Gill and I start to talk about that.
pc lobbies are most of the reason I bother. if you know a network engineer who owes you money we'd all love to play 5 with rollback and lobbies. it's not trying to be better than any doa other than 6, and there's a bunch of stuff too deep in the code for us to fix.

If you want it in a tournament, talk to the organizer. I'm not going to astroturf interest that isn't there, it needs to come from the community.
