Would reccommend learning sculpting and use it for reference for lighting! I'm a 2D artist with also a hand in 3D, sculpting helps me understand anatomy and forms better

Just bought this, and I cannot wait to start using it. There's so much stuff in this app for the low, low price of $2.99! I kinda wish they also had human bodies, but hands and feet are probably the trickiest things for an artist.

I just started drawing 2 weeks ago and learning about face anatomy before actually drawing is so overwhelming sometimes i feel like im not a good at it and i feel like giving up but then i just keep pushing and telling myself it takes time and practice

Whole app is stunning . Especially when you consider the price of the 3d planar models in real life. As well as the other models ....... woman’s planar model is way more sophisticated for some reason but whatever biggest value art reference app

I flipping love this app! I Started using this app a couple of months ago. You can change the key light source color by moving the sliders at the bottom and then moving the small circle to the right to adjust the saturation of the color.

Or you could do this on your computer in Daz Studio for free, only you could make _exactly_ the pose you want in addition to using pose presets. And use realistic, complex lighting.

@@MohammedAgbadi DAZ makes money off the content for it, because most of their users just want renders as a final product. But it was created to rival Poser, and Poser itself was originally created to pair with Painter (now by Corel) and provide a basis for 2D art. Poser even has a 3D version of the old artist's mannequin. Neither is used for that much now, but both still can be, and DS is free. Both come with tons of free content, just to get you hooked, so they come with more than you need if you just want a basis for a 2D illustration.

Thanks for going into depth with how this app can be used. I got it a long time ago when I was looking for anatomy reference apps for artists but never gave it a good try. I just downloaded it again after watching your video and played around with it some more. I think it could really come in handy (no pun intended) so I will keep it installed this time and commit to using it more. Drawing the human head from difficult angles is something I need help with and this should do the trick👍🏾

Oh hey, you can change the color of the key light if you drag that little circle that appears inbetween the box framing the head, which dictates the saturation and brightness. The key light starts off defaulted at no-saturation, so its biased all the way on the left side.
yeah it started as a plain light source i tried still . no luck, i'll just try harder!

It's a great app, though I believe that it should also have an option where the skin color base could be changed, since light does not bounce the same in a dark skinned character like Black Lighting, Storm or Kamala or, idk, imagine trying to replicate that coloring with The Martian Manhunter, Mystique or Gladiator if you were still starting getting into color.

If you want something for desktop use, look into Istebrak's Portrait Studio. Its not free, but it is on sale at the moment. The thing that sets that one apart is that its real time rendering engine is insane. you get head busts, posable figures, hands, etc. All with accurate real time shadows, ambient occlusion, even subsurface scattering.

Great video!! This app is very useful, been using it for a couple of months now, it's my go-to app for reference while drawing hands.! I've also been using ArtPose -there's a male and female version of the app, and it's very good for posing figures. :)

there are Free 3d desktop apps outhere ( such as Daz3d...) that does this and even more ( what about the full boby for ex ) since for ever. But i suppose if you prefer to have it on your phone....then its handy.
