1st here. So glad the frag OG is back in the game. You and Joy are my favorite reviewers. Love from Vancouver. You should probably test drive Rose Malaki. My favorites are Oud and Amber.
I LOVE this line! I think Amber is easily the most crowd-pleasing. There were only two entries in the "Noble" line (I have the Cedar which I love as an herbal-wood fougere, but I guess I missed the bus on Noble Vetiver as I've never seen it available), but in my mind I consider those in this same line, even though they are not called Malaki, because they passed on the same beautiful presentation to the Malakis and like them they are built around the single hero note for which they are named.
This was the first from the line that I picked up (all blind buys) and still the one that I gravitate to the most along with Rose. Syrupy is certainly the word. And you nailed the powdery aspect. Never smelled Gaultier squared (nor the re-release), but it's absolutely in the vein of something like Altamir from Lapidus. Nowhere near the performance of Grand Soir though. I've never actually measured the longevity myself, since by hour 4 or 5 I'm already spraying on another fragrance. But it doesn't feel heavy on me. Hope they produce another flanker because it's a line that always deserved the attention.
I have 4 (Oud, Amber, Rose, Musk). I would suggest that you try the rose nest. I am hard pressed to find anything close from my 300 bottles but it has a smokiness to the rose which you may like, Now the musk doesn't project well at all off my skin and is probably closest to Jovan Ginseng NRG.
for those who don't know , Malaki in Arabic means Royal, so this fragrance is called Royal Amber. I'm guessing this line was intended for the Middle Eastern market
It was for the European market, because the last thing they need in the Middle East is a weak version of their own Parfumes. It was the time all big houses made a middle eastern inspired oud fragrance (oud Malaki was the fist one) this trend started 2011-2012
Love the smell for a few minutes, but it goes on my nerves after a while. Oud Azraq has a similar Amber portion with a oudy base that I can enjoy for hours.
@robes08 Update, i now have Oud Malaki, Black Incense Malaki, Amber Malaki and Rose Malaki. Next one I'm eyeing up is the new Cedar Malaki! Amazing fragrances!
I adore this line, absolutely sublime & amazing value, too. Rose & Musk are of equal quality, although they're softer & more delicate, which really suits them. I noticed that Musk Malaki was missing from Chopard's UK website, so if you want it, it may be best to snap it up quick.

Sounds like a interesting fragrance. I have yet to try anything from Chopard. You think this would be a good introduction to the house?
Yes it would be.

I saw Casran by Chopard at a perfume galleria a month ago . I wish I picked it up . I'm kicking my butt right now .

THanks for the the suggestion, Rose & Musk are next but not sure which one will be first.
Wanted to try out Oud Malaki but didn't come around to it. Will try this one if i can get my hands on a decant
sounds good.

I've been thinking about buying all this line

Please do test drive of Marc-Antoine Barrios Ganymede. Im waiting ages on your take on it. Kind regards
I don't own any of that brand but I've written it down. new to me! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing that, might get Musk first then.
Got oud malaki years ago, wasn’t amazed but probably need to wear a few more times
It's solid, I'd give it another chance.
@@robes08 wearing now, still smells like a not-quite-as-good spicebomb to me, not horrible tho
are these worth $65 American dollars?
that's up to you, I would but I'm not your wallet.
