  • What is EKS? Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is a managed service on AWS allowing you to run highly available, scalable and secure Kubernetes clusters. In this explainer, Sai outlines the advantages of using a managed Kubernetes service like EKS over self-managing Kubernetes.

Yeah I'm also amazed seeing this great guy with AWS. I have been following you on IBM. Thanks for the great job.

is it possible to use a custom node controller with eks?
to clarify, I'm looking to run the control plane in aws, but worker nodes have to run on multiple clouds (other than ec2 and fargate); thus, I would need my node controller to be able to interact with those other cloud providers.

hi hi, hope you can assist.
i build a entire VPC + EKS 1.22 cluster using AWS EKS Blueprints (terraform), where ever possible i used defaults, to enable add on's I simple listed them in the add-on section and true next to enabled.
Now stuck trying to upgrade to 1.23 followed by 1.24...
the cluster upgrade went easy... but trying to upgrade the nodes fails, new nodes in node groups unable to join cluster, from what i can figure out it's related to vac / cni... problem is i don't have enough experience to know where to look, and also don't have anyone to ask for help... please please, take us through a upgrade like this, what needs to be added from a 1.22 to 1.23 upgrade in the add on sections, vpc cni sections to make this fly and not crash.

      How do we proceed.
I can share my original terraform scripts, that was used to create the environment.

Kubernetes is a platform-agnostic tool that can be deployed on a variety of infrastructure, including on-premises data centers, public cloud providers, and other environments. It provides features such as container deployment, scaling, and management, as well as service discovery, load balancing, and storage management.
EKS, on the other hand, is a fully managed Kubernetes service that is offered by AWS. It provides a managed control plane for Kubernetes, making it easier to deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications on AWS infrastructure. With EKS, AWS manages the Kubernetes control plane and ensures high availability, security, and reliability of the service, allowing developers to focus on building and deploying their applications.
In summary, while Kubernetes is a platform-agnostic container orchestration platform, EKS is a managed Kubernetes service provided by AWS that offers simplified management and scaling of containerized applications on the AWS cloud.
