I’m 55yrs old and have been a fan of Bruce Lee since I was 10yrs old. He’s not the only martial artist who inspires me, but I am truly amazed at how far ahead of the curve he was back in the 60’s.
Not just by his philosophy concerning martial arts, but by his very scientific conditioning, diet and various other things that truly makes him the Father of MMA.👊🏾
Even if you strip away the martial arts aspect of what he was doing, the modern athlete can still apply it to whatever sport they are doing!

@@TomBleecker Tom Bleeker and Linda Lee Cadwell (Bruce Lee's wife) met in the late 1970s when Bleeker was working as a tennis coach. They began a romantic relationship, and eventually got married in 1988.
The divorce between Linda and Bruce Lee was finalized in 1973, several years before she met Bleeker, so there was no controversy regarding their relationship. However, Linda did face some criticism and scrutiny from fans of Bruce Lee who felt that she was dishonoring his memory by remarrying.
Tom Bleeker played a significant role in the lives of Bruce Lee's children, Brandon and Shannon Lee. He helped to raise them and was a father figure to them. In fact, Linda Lee Cadwell has spoken publicly about how important Bleeker was to her and her children, and how grateful she is for his presence in their lives.

Let me ask you something, do you think the greatest of Jeet June Do practioners even equal a single BJJ black belt? Could BL ever have stepped into a ring with Saenchai? Like many guys back in the 60's, I was mesmerized by Lee. I didn't
just WATCH Kato----I studied EVERY little move he made. It wasn't
too long after that series ended, that I took a little drive down to,
China Town, in Seattle. There was a Martial Art Store there that I
found in the phone book. MIND you, China Town, for the "Gualu,'
was NOT a good idea, but I had no problem down there. Well any-
way, I purchased two Wing Chun books, and Studied/Practiced them
Religiously. I was only a Whitebelt in this Kaji Kenpo Class I was
taking, and yet----I was besting the yellow, AND orange belt students.
No exaggeration....My teacher had me spar with a Brown belt after I
had received my yellow-----I actually beat him quite easily. But I told my
instructor NOT to give me a higher rank until I put in the Time, and

Bottom line-----Bruce's Method was, by FAR...The BEST!

Great info. I’ve trained in and been exposed to several martial arts. What I found is there is a common thread in most of what I experienced. The truth of it, is to breakdown all of it to make it fit me, and give credit to whoever I learned from. Eliminate what doesn’t work for me, but keep a few things to remember my roots. I’ve been in martial arts since I was 13yrs( 52 now lol) and in that time, here’s my thoughts: learn it, perfect it, test it, make it fit you, and trust what you can do with it, most importantly maintain it😊

But Skip applauded my Judo moves every time he did a seminar in our school. Kenpo is always evolving, and I could see the Judo in the system. Just because your head instructor hasn't taught it to you yet does not mean it isn't useful in the system. Later on, I saw a more recent video of Skip telling other Black Belts that he had a conversation with Mr. Parker about seeing Judo in the art.

3:43 I started as a kid shadowing Bruce in movies. I don't know how well I did as I was the only one doing it. When I joined the army, I was looking for a school with a 6 month training program to fit into my training schedule. The 3 that I went to seemed generic, and well, I got bad vibes. Like they were disingenuous to me. I was driving around post on a Saturday, and a van with a kickboxing ad was right in front of me. Taking the hint, I scheduled a tour right away. It was just called. As soon as I walked in, I could feel it was legit. Had Bruce, Sonny, Chuck, Ali, Mike Tyson, Butterbean (my favorite boxer), and a whole host of others plastered on the walls. Positive matras from each walk of martial arts. It did not let me down in my training. My instructor was a really cool guy I would kind of hang out with for a bit after class. I mostly picked his brain, but he didn't mind. He loved answering my numerous off the wall questions. Sorry for the rant, but yeah. Bruce is the man. My dad, who was a bit crazy thought so as well.

Alot of people see newer videos and try to discredit Bruce Lee. I think he was more Legit then most know. He fought alot growing up and probably realized what worked and what didn't in actual street fights or fighting other people in Martial Arts dojo. He was way ahead of his time. I do think Bruce could have become a Champ in UFC or another Fighting Organization due to his Strength, Speed, Flexibility, Coordination and Heart. All make a great receipe for a Champion. He also would have evolved in other techniques like Wrestling and other's. If anyone would have Evolved Fighting Bruce was the man, besides that's what he is known for. To discredit someone who isn't around isn't right. MJW lol. Just proves more of how Bruce Lee knew what he was doing. Great Video Bro. So it baffles me when people say he’d get his ass kicked, when I’ve yet to see anyone move like him or have his attributes in the ufc or elsewhere. It’s weird that chuck didn’t mention that when Bruce first moved to LA , he
LIVED with Leilani and Ed Parker , for either several months to almost a year , depending on the source . Frank Trejo , one of Parker’s top guys (and a legitimately tough LA dude ), said Bruce was there about 10-11 months .
Ed connected Bruce with the Hollywood crowd as Parker was training BLAKE EDWARDS (Hence his appearance in REVENGE OF THE PINK PANTHER) SIDNEY POITIER ( who does a staff set in HEAT OF THE NIGHT ) among others . TIME. magazine called Ed “ the high priest of the Hollywood sect “in an article from that era. I wasn’t around then( not old enough ) but I talked to several of Ed’s top guys , including Ed’s son about all this .
There’s also a rumor that at one point Parker and Bruce got into a tussle on Ed’s front yard .
I’ve heard several versions of this , i asked Gene LeBell about this ( who admittedly has a reputation for tall tales )and while I’m Not saying this event occurred , there’s a Honk Kong Bruce Lee movie where they recreated this incident .

But of course this was against men who did not know how to throw a proper punch, most definitely not a power punch. Thou this particular block may lack stability, this block is excellent in redirecting the energy of a block, which is the purpose of any block, as to set up your counter attack.

He also said the jeet kune do style people associate with him is pure bs, made up for the movies. But the biggest mistake people make regarding his teachings, is when he said to take what works and disregard what doesn’t, it applies to each person and not just the style as a whole. It’s why jeet kune do is hard to teach. It has to be tailored to each person learning it. A person who is overweight won’t necessarily be able to do the things a lighter person can do, and a lighter person can’t necessarily do the things that a muscular person can do. The teacher is supposed to help the student find what works for them personally, not just an mma like style that teaches a variety of techniques.
