Very fair and balanced opinions. I think we're beyond the "best system" and "worst system" argument because all of the main manufacturers have great equipment. They leapfrog each other over time with small advances, but really it comes down to personal choice and what system suits you best. That said - I'm at a point where I need to upgrade my whole system and for the first time in 25 years I'm considering moving from Canon to Nikon. It'll cost a lot of money either way so it's my opportunity to evaluate what I want to work with in the future. I stopped comparing camera bodies years ago, so that isn't a factor in my potential move. But those Nikon lenses - especially the 600 and 400 with built in TC and also the PFs - are tempting. For me, and the way I like to work, they're almost perfect and nobody else has got them.
I went from Canon to Nikon because of Native lens selection. But if you don’t mind using an adapter, canon is hard to beat. I also think Canon files look a little cleaner at high iso, but it’s close enough. I think video AF is better in Canon as well. But Nikon does what I need it to do and I absolutely love my 400mm f4.5
I'm looking for my first hybrid, still shooting with Pentax DSLR :D but I can't decide which system to choose. Was thinking Nikon Z8 but since i shoot besides wildlife often at night (mostly northern light), then this talk of Nikon's high ISO noise problem scared me a bit away. Thinking about Sony A1 aswell, but that's more expensive, much older camera and .. I'll just let it settle until spring 2025 and then decide ;)
hi Fabian beautiful and down-to-earth representation of the facts. People are always looking for confirmation that their purchase is the right one, if that is not the case, people are actually just disappointed and react accordingly. I would like to say to people, go outside and take beautiful photos, regardless of the brand you photograph with. one said loudly in the Netherlands. New brooms sweep clean, but the old ones know the corners. people, go outside and photograph nature as you experience it. love from the Netherlands to all of you.❤
Thank you Fabian. This was a nice honest video about your reviews. Both using a good lens and understanding your gear helps to bring about some nice pictures no matter what camera you use. Keep up the good work. 👍
I have Canon and Nikon - both are great. Always was with Canon but last year I bought also Nikon , because I like Nikon Pf lenses. Results of photography more depends from photographers skills. Good gear only enhances chances of getting good result. If you choose the system now without having any gear. What system will you choose?
Very honest video on where you stand vissa-vis reviewing cameras and lenses from primarily Canon and in between Nikon I often watch your reviews as these of other camera influencers. Some I have dropped because they weren't neutral/objective. Otherwise because I felt they took on more brands to increase number followers at the expensive of reviewing quality. FYI, weight of the gear is the most important factor fot me as I always shoots birds, always 8:20 handheld and I'm not body builder. I use Canon R6mkII and R7 plus RF 100-500mm L and RF 800 f/11.
Fabian, Very balanced and fair presentation. I’d also stress your point that with birding, the lens options one is willing/able to afford AND is willing to carry, should be a big factor in deciding. I’ve gotten back into Canon because of their RF 100-400 and RF 100-500 options, which strike the balance of price to weight to performance balance for what i can afford. But 20 years ago i never could have felt i could afford what that 100-500 costs. Each person will have their own sweet spots of trade offs.
They are all good. I prefer Canon. I think the technology involved now rules out the smaller companies. R&D is costly. It will be between Canon and Sony only in the end. Unfortunately.
Well said! Cool and collected. Nikon do have neat prime options and Canon some neat zooms. Sony mirror less been around a long while so have a huge selection of glass and 3rd party glass but for me they are tools. Sure a new toy is nice but don’t let them gather dust
Hello Fabian ! Thank you for your videos. Just a request 1. Kindly review Nikon ZF may be with Nikon Z 180-600 a budget solution. 2. Please see if you can do comparison video between MFT and Full frame especially from background blur perspective The MFT prices are similar to that of Full frame now a days 🙂 Thank you - Rahul Deshpande
All the main modern Camera Companies make amazing devices, they are in the end tools of our trade, if you can't produce great images with any of them you should take up knitting or something. Only infantile types will go on and on and on about their preferred make of camera. We may all have our preferences that's fine, each have somethings they are specially good at. I stay with Nikon, not because they're better but because I've been shooting Nikon for over 30 years plus I have a large volume of old legacy glass that that it allows me to still shoot with. I've shot Rollei for years, Canon, Olympus cameras, Kodak, they were all good at certain times. So just enjoy the gear you like, who cares what make you shoot, just show me the images then we can judge. 😉😊🥂
Careful what you say. You could destroy the entire RUclips photography/filmmaking niche if that kind of thinking took hold. Imagine all the shilltubers out of work and having to get real jobs
For me, I value magnification ratio (dragonflies!) and light weight, so the RF100-500L is my most used lens, followed by the RF100L. Only m43 comes close with macro lenses that have both AF and IS, but I severely dislike the Olympus UX every time I use it. That and the lenses I’ve acquired over 20 years keep me in the Canon system. If I were starting from scratch, with my current income, Nikon would be a serious contender, but they are still light on macro lenses.
Using Canon R6 m2 and Nikon D500 Previous bought so many gears (1509D, D5200, 200D, M50, D7200) just to understand i was lacking my skills n creative ideas Tech is overkill nowadays and its time to upgrade skills rather than gears😅
Lumix ftw haha Seriously though if I had an unlimited budget I would pick the least common setup because who wants to be the same as everyone else? Myself personally i've started doing other types of photography because ive realised it's virtually impossible to make meaningful amounts of money with wildlife photography. Also if no one recognises the bait for more clicks...😅

Yes, these lenses are really awesome
Great video: clear, structured, honest, informative.

That‘s a hard choice! Probably Canon, because of the R5 II and the RF100-300/2.8
All cameras today offer way more than 99% of people are capable to squeeze out of them.
True
when a mirrorless camera focuses in the literal dark you know camera tech peaked.

Have fun, the RF100-500 is a great lens for that use
