The story behind the car is by far the best part. The Taurus station wagon in the background of the intro/outro was also great! I dunno if you did that on purpose. All us gearheads have that person that changed our lives tward grease and gasoline, it was great to hear about yours.

I had an 87 trans am in my high school days Purchased in 93, graduated in 95, sold the car in spring of 99. I recently tracked the car down and somehow the car made it from me in Iowa to California in that time but it also went from excellent condition to absolutely trashed in those 23 years somehow with only around 20,000 extra miles put on it. I have the opportunity to buy it back but health issues in the family are preventing me. Unfortunately I'd never be able to afford getting my old high school ride looking and driving like it used to. :(
But, I digress. My point in commenting was, somewhere along the way of owning that thing, I got a photo of a red firebid that had a kit on it, looked similiar to this. I just loved the doors. I spent a lot of time flipping through magazines (all we had in the mid to late 90's) trying to track down where I could buy the kit from. Still have that photo somewhere.
Now I know, and I'll still never have one :(

The Miami Vice pilot episode featured Sonny Crocket driving a Ferrari Daytona replica based on a Corvette chassis. Apparently, Ferrari recognized the marketing potential of Miami Vice and gave the producers of the show a real Testarossa for free to feature in subsequent episodes of the show.

I live in Fort Worth Texas and every once in a while you still see some of those cars but they’re usually used as signs for some kind of display. I saw one at a auction about a year ago that was actually in really good condition the AC and all the power windows and everything still worked on it and it only sold for like $5500.

The build quality on your replica is far better than a real Ferrari or any Italian car for that matter. My 1986 Alfa feels like a poorly screwed together kit car while your vehicle is tight, clean and reliable. Having a usable, fun car is really what matters most and I really appreciate what you’ve got there. Thank you so much for sharing it and educating me on such a great replica execution.

Please ... Find someone in your area with a real white testorossa. Park them next to each other for comparison. Because a real testorossa is a sight to behold, and I direct you to the testorossa's PERFECT panel gaps. I kinda LOL'd when you mentioned the panel gaps of the replica !! To see the 2 cars next to eachother would be a special treat

You never get to see the behind the scenes of company owners talking about their products or services and then when they mess up then you can see they are just normal people too letting swear words fly and goofing around! It's a nice build. But, every time I see these kind of conversions by actual companies, I can't help but to think of the movie "It Takes Two" from 1988. Probably the best kit car movie that most car guys have never heard of, or don't remember the name and just calls it the "Lamborghini Movie"
Either way, very cool car. I'd drive it.

I remember back in the mid 90s seeing a red one of these in fort worth picking someone up in front of a krogers grocery store I thought it was real from afar but when I got closer some things didn't seem right and it said turborossa on the back and I knew then it wasn't real. I didn't know they made them in fort worth though and that it was an actual production of these things. It seemed to me all these years it was a one off kit car.

There was company in Bradenton Florida in the late 80s and early 90s that sold this in kit form to build your own 82-92 camaro firebird Testarossa replica it was called the handcraft Gt 2+2. I inquired about the kit in the mid 90s the gentleman told me they stopped producing the kit and that someone had purchased the molds and the guy never picked them up. He said would make a kit for me but would cost $ 8,995. He sent me a price guide and pictures of his personal car wich was in kit car magazine. I ended not purchasing but have the brochure and the pics.

Its a nicely made car. If you think its proportions are better than a fiero based testarossa, you might want to look again. I remeber these cars from back in the 80s and the really bad proportions are what always turned me off abiut them. I love a good replica but making a mid engine car from a front engine car just doesnt work for me. Other than that the body craftmanship looks top notch.
