I've been with these guys for every album. People don't seem to understand that music comes from what is impacting the musician at that very moment they write that special riff, line, pattern, or melody. Miss May I has grown up since apologies are for the weak, and that is clearly shown in their song writing. They've seen more of the world, heard so many stories, and now its bleeding into this record. Of course there will always be that brutal sound on this upcoming album, but i'm certain many songs will have this new sound. This is definitely still heavy, just a lot more of a personal feeling. That's what music is about.
He wrote this whole album from fans letters telling him about how miss may I helped them get through the issues they were going through. No matter what, They know how to write music and they know what fans want, so either way they always have something that impresses them, that's what I love about music. The album is definately gonna have something that people like even if they don't like this or Gone.

I didn't realize so many MMI fans didn't enjoy this song or album. I thought this song in particular was amazing. The album isn't quite as good as monument or at heart, but it's still kick ass.

This song is really good, I'm glad they didn't do what some people are calling "The Miss May I I know." or as i like to call it, the same shit over and over again. I'm really happy they switched things up.

My personal opinion, it seems to be about a miscarriage, or in basic a death of a loved one. I love the metaphors in this song and all around the song tells a story. It is absolutely beautiful.

If you're hating on this album because they approached vocals different, or have one slow song don't stay metal. And don't stay an MMI fan. Support them wanting to add a little variety to their sound. Overall this album is awesome.

Why'd I listen to this. I knew I would cry. This song makes me think of my dad. He died when I was 15 of an accidental drug overdose. I miss him so much.
This is obviously one of their more soft songs on the album, if not their only. Listen to the album preview where you get to hear like 15 seconds of each song. Some are heavy AF

I am so happy that my boys here keep progressing. I am tired of every band in the genre having the same sound and it just got boring for me. This song has a very old school sound to it while keeping it heavy. You don't need breakdowns to be heavy, this song is very dark and has strong emotions behind it. I am absolutely loving the first two songs released so far, this is by far their best work. I cannot wait for the album, bravo boys!!
Bands' ideas of "progressing" means getting less heavy. Which inevitably just ruins things.

yes!!! that's what I'm talking about. opens up with agonistic type scream straight into the lyrics that are expressed in much the same emotions. and the nice clean vocals to make more deep emotions....I'm so glad I've found this and others in my journey through metal music.
I'mma always like Miss May I. Everybody hatin' while they're doing their thing. They make music the way they want to and if you don't wanna follow them, you don't have to. At least they didn't sell out.

Oh great, People are disapproving the song because it's different. Jesus this isn't the first time a band wants to change a song style as Miss May I still knows what it's doing. But to continue on there is Metallica's Load and Reload cycle, Megadeth's Risk, Bring Me The Horizon's Seperimental, Sepultura's Roots and so on so forth. I love the guitar harmonies though. Reminds me of Alice In Chains and Breaking Benjamin. Hell it also somewhat reminded me of System of A Down's Spiders. Vocals are still good and it really gets the job done. Echoes is really awesome I can't wait to hear more.
I Love it. I don't care about what he sounds like or doesn't sound like. The song itself has a very strong purpose and meaning behind it. I really like this song and Gone. They're both fantastic, try listening to the lyrics instead of complaining about his vocals. The raw vocals make this song more powerful, in my opinion. I can't wait for the album to come out. Keep up the good work, guys!

I see a lot of people attacking Levi's voice or claiming it has weakened since earlier albums. I'd just like to clarify a few things I've noticed:
1. His voice has not weakened at all since I first saw Miss May I (about 3 years ago now, I believe), it's really a choice of the bands to lower the volume of the screams in this mix, since it is a much slower and softer song.
2. based on his screaming technique, he has not damaged his voice. If you check back to earlier albums, you can see his screams still sound as powerful as ever, although in this song, there is a bit less technicality (I'm assuming to not overshadow the clean vocals).

Dude. For some reason, I just watched like 5 of their videos in a row. I haven't listened to them in a few years and hearing them again after so long is very inspiring. They've made so many great songs and have come a very long way in their career. Amazing group of people.

There's a reason they have a music video and you don't, because people love the music they make, there is obviously some personal level and touch to this song, which, for me, makes it even better.
I really enjoyed "Gone"! This one doesn't keep me coming back and listening at all. There is no "wow factor" in this track, it's pretty dull... Oh well, excited for the rest of the album still.

I see a lot of people saying it's not as good as the old MMI or how they suck now. Well let me tell you something, coming from someone who studies music theory and plenty experience in writing/playing music, Miss May I is now at a professional level and know what they are doing. They have become great, intellectual, professional musicians. Not only that, they are now writing what they feel. They are now using raw vocals, amazing guitar, drums that hold everything together solid, skillful GUITAR SOLOS, in depth lyrics, and much more. They have grown from 17 year old teenagers playing open note breakdowns, auto-tuning, and writing less progressive music, to a great group. Don't get me wrong, all their music is good but you have to understand that they are maturing. And maybe you should too if you are going to label this as "shit" or a "disappointment". And if anyone would like to tell me how their old music is any better than this, please do.
By the looks of their album trailer, they do have a lot of heavy songs on the album. For some reason, they're releasing the softer ones as singles. Maybe to attract new fans, but I'm looking forward to album.

I saw miss may I live about 4 years ago and it was the greatest show I ever went to. About 200 people packed in a bar down town chicago with my demise,devul wears prada and miss may I.. anyway the whole reason I started listening to these guys everyday sense then is bc they are a dope band and anything they make deserves a second listen. If you can write a better song, and pay live.. then critique other musicians. Js.

If you listened to their track by track video, you'd see they have songs that are like Apologies Are For The Weak, Monument, At Heart, AND the new Miss May I. Quit bitchin' until you hear each song. It's just one song, and it's pretty good whether it's soft or fast and heavy.

Every band that seemed to know how to continue their careers, Mature as a whole, take big leaps. This is really refreshing cause they are making their own sound, not following the trends. Thank God they're turning into a real metal band.
I got really excited when I found out there was a new MMI album coming out in a few days, as they have yet to put out a bad one yet, in my opinion. But what I have heard so far sounds pretty disappointing, the vocals aren't what they used to be and the energy seems so much lower, especially in the drumming. Also, the production quality seems mediocre at best. If this album is a flop, I hope it is a one time thing and they get back on their feet soon.

When I first listened to the album I thought Ryan sang way too much. After listening to it over and over again, I've came to the conclusion that it adds a lot. The sound might have changed but it's still amazing.
