    Scrolling through the list I was so happy to see that I've actually read quite a few, and that I OWN a lot more! This is a neat list, Regan, it reminds me of the BBC list "The Big Read" which is a list I hope to conquer one day!

    • @PeruseProject
      @PeruseProject  10 лет назад

      Wo! That's exciting! And I plan on conquering all the lists!

      PeruseProject Well I've read about half so far and I love it! I generally love Brandon Sanderson's books but this one is particularly incredible! I can't believe how complex the world he is creating is, how deep the characters are! Honestly I am blown away despite the pace being slower than usual for a Sanderson book :)

    I have a sort of similar thing that I plan to do alongside reading my bookshelves is to read as many man booker prize winners/nominees as I can. My dad has a whole shelf dedicated to those books so we have about 40 or so which gives me plenty to work through! I plan on reading song of ice and fire this year as well and it will be done no matter how daunting - but some of the books on the npr are actually pretty awesome! Good luck, Regan

    You have no idea how happy I was when you mentioned A Song of Ice And Fire and The Farseer Trilogy. Obviously ASOIAF is popular and really good, don't get scared with the length because you'll fly through them. But The Farseer is not popular at all which is bad because it's really good. The first book is kinda boring but don't worry, it gets really good. And I mean REALLY good. My favorite villains and my favorite love story both come from these books. You'll cry so many times you have no idea. I'm really looking forward to hear what you have to say. Glad I subscribed a few weeks ago :)

    Great resolution. I'm currently working on The Last Unicorn and loving it. I also want to encourage you to read the song of ice and fire series because the story is amazing. Don't let the size scare you off!

    Gods, those covers for the Mistborn books are gorgeous! I have the mass markets. I'm in the middle of the Farseer Trilogy, and it's effing fantastic, and I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do. Neverwhere is one of my most favorite of Neil's books, second to American Gods. I promise you will love them.

    Neverwhere was amazing! I read it earlier this year and loved it :). It's adventurous, hilarious and so well written. There's also a BBC miniseries too which came before the book actually. Both in the book and in the series, the Marquis de Carabas is fabulous haha. Enjoy and best of luck with the list!!

    The Song of Ice and Fire series is great! They're definitely big, huge, epic monsters, but they're so worth it. Neverwhere was really good. Really weird, but really good! The Last Unicorn looks awesome, I'd love to read a book about a unicorn as I have not done that before either. Great list and haul!

Ursula le Guin is one of my favorite science fiction writers and the Lathe of Heaven is a favorite of mine, SO GOOD. Also, I want to read the Last Unicorn SO BADLY. I really enjoyed the Farseer Triology, although I read it quite a while ago. I think I probably should reread it some time so I can remember what happens rather than just having a general memory of liking it.
    I read Neverwhere last year and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to checking out American Gods this year. Can't wait.
    OH MY GOD THE LAST UNICORN! I love that book so much. It has so many amazing quotable lines in it and the plot and writing is so beautiful and melancholy. There is also a lovely cartoon film of it.

    To be honest, the NPR list is missing quite a few good reads. The fact that Madeleine L'Engle is not on the list is surprising. "A Wrinkle in Time" got me into science fiction. Also, Jim Butcher's "The Dresden Files" is amazing. If it wasn't for Dresden, there would be no Codex Alera series. You should also think about reading War for the Oaks by Emma Bull (she pretty much started urban fantasy besides Charles De Lint). Neverwhere is awesome! My favorite Neil Gaiman novel, besides his Sandman graphic novel series.

    ommmmmgggg American Gods is amazing. It was on my top 5 of 2013. Believe the hype surrounding Game of Thrones. It is worth a read. The revenge of Baby-Sat just triggered so many memories. I had that exact same copy.

    Le Guin = queen. I have The Lathe of Heaven. I read a short story of hers once (don't remember) and it was great. That's the edition of Neverwhere that I want.
    American Gods is so good! Basically when immigrants came to the US, they brought their "gods" with them, and they're being replaced by new gods (technology, fashion, media, vanity). Very interesting. Enjoy!

    Neither Neverwhere nor American Gods are dystopian. (And man, as an avid reader and book reviewer, I am so SICK of that word.) They're straight up modern myth-fantasy, and Neverwhere is a solid intro to Gaiman's work.

    A Song of Ice and Fire is a wonderful series, if you have the time to sit through it, I'm sure you'll love it! I love epic fantasy, lol. I think I might try this list too, can't hurt, right? lol
