My Dad and I were talking about Chicken Maryland the other day. It was my favourite as a child. If we went out to a restaurant that is what I would have. Every eatery seemed to have it on the menu in the 70s.

When you were making French onion soup the other day I did think your inner Fanny was coming through 😂. Cooking in our house is polar opposites. Helen follows a recipe for everything - even the gravy she's made a thousand times. I'm more of the chuck a bit in and see what happens. Marmite rescues most things. Lol.

Oh wow! It was my comment that inspired this video. Thank you Paul! I am going to track down some of those St Michael's cook books.
I have a bunch of old hand written recipes and cook books that belonged to my great grandmother including a copy of Mary and Vincent Prince's A Treasury of Great Recipes. It is is some of the best writing about food I have ever read. They are so passionate about food that it's inspiring. Last month the BFI announced a blu ray release of his Thames cooking show Cooking Price-Wise and I am incredibly excited to see it.

WOW, because of this episode, I just looked up what my set of Time Life Foods of the World Cookbooks are worth on EBay and they are $150…..I bought them at a garage sale in California for $25…..I’m keeping them with all the fabulous photographs…I love them. These days I enjoy baking more than cooking. I have quite a selection of cookery books, they’re the ones I’m keeping. It’s so cool seeing them in your kitchen where they belong! I bake a mean Scottish Shortbread, my fave. ❤❤❤

I had to clear out some books because I ran out of shelf space and my husband said NO MORE SHELVES. So, out went the cook books😅. I never used them anyway, I'm embarrassed to say. Too many expensive ingredients. Luckily, we have an amazing charity shop here, and they fund our village's animal welfare group. You can say that local dogs from the poorer area are being fed from my cook books😅

Very nice! My favorite cookery books are from Rick Stein. I've collected a few. I love the way most of his cookbooks I've read have come out of his travel journals discovering food from people around the world.
