This show was so much ahead of its time. It was dark and gritty and rough and tackled social issues with blunt force. Loved watching the show in the 90s. It still is my favourite space-scifi show even to this day. There’s a part of me that wants a remake/continuation of this fantastic show, but also another part that wants it to be left as it is.
I think it was way ahead of its time! Think about The Expanse in an military perspective, Bobby is "just" a Marine but i goesa she would be a awesome pilot, not as good as Alex, but hey, better then most others. Sadly The Expanse is more a Big against Big thing, small ships are mostly just for sports.

This show was part Seaquest DSV / Starship Troopers / Blake's 7 / Top Gun / Pitch Black. One of the best cancelled popcorn sci-fi shows to grace the air waves. Now that Dark Matter / Kill Joys / The Expanse is gone times are tough. Measly crumbages on Star Trek Discovery have left me a belt notxh looser though not a harsher critic, was enjoyable.

the show was a big success here in Germany, heard rumors that the station airing it actually considered to finance a second season but at that time all the stages have already been discared etc... seems it was more sucessfull overseas in general. Fortunately I just got my hands on the complete show incl. pilot on DVD for 10 Bucks (near mint).

It would be good to see the original actors return as regulars or as recurring guest stars, with new younger cast members too. -- How I wish the original was on streaming services, and a re-release or a 4K remaster of a Blu-Ray box set.
If they remake this which they wont or add onto the series. Just show the newer generation taking over. West and Hawks are still alive. Vansen and Phamous are still alive. They ejected and probably crash landed on some planet. Remember Operation Round Hammer (INVASION) is already happening. So where do you think the story would go after this? Shouldn't be hard to go get 2 pilots who ejected onto some planet who are unconscious after we started a mass invasion. Did the people back home (earth) ever find out about what they know on Saratoga? Or was this OPSEC? Nasa or whoever that guy was knew the entire time the truth. Earth attacked the aliens first when the aliens were over watching earth not attacking or doing anything to humans.

realmente esta série passou desapercebido no Brasil, lembro de ter visto alguns episódios más não lembro se foi na recor, no SBT, ou na bandeirantes, más foram poucos episódios, segundo lí os episódios eram carrissimos para produzir e a velocidade de produção era lenta , mesmo assim acho que foi tratada com ínjustiça, mesmo sendo apagada pelo tempo faz parte da cultura nerd.

My only peeve about this series is how they send highly trained pilots to battle as common infantry. I suppose it’s just as realistic as starship captains leaving their ship and going on hazardous away missions. Directors don’t like officers who stay aboard ship as they are supposed to.
I said the same thing haha. These fighter pilots are also grunts? These dudes are high speed! I also felt the same way about Star Trek. Why didn’t they have Marines for ship defense and expeditionary operations? Oh well, can’t think about it too hard haha

I looked all over the net and I could not find the full version of the theme. Where did you get it? I only found a 4 minute version from the Prague Orchestra.
@brandeo What can I say? She defined a lot of the mood of that character for me. As much, in her own strange way, as Elfman did. She was damned good at her work. Never saw this show though....:(

My only peeve about this series is how they send highly trained pilots to battle as common infantry. I suppose it’s just as realistic as starship captains leaving their ship and going on hazardous away missions. Directors don’t like officers who stay aboard ship as they are supposed to.

I said the same thing haha. These fighter pilots are also grunts? These dudes are high speed! I also felt the same way about Star Trek. Why didn’t they have Marines for ship defense and expeditionary operations? Oh well, can’t think about it too hard haha
