DP-great interview with many interesting stories, anecdotes and general poker talk. I didn't expect it to be interesting, but Sean Deeb has a fascinating back story. The slowroll discussion funny and by far the best part. You are consistently improving your interview chops kudos!
So enjoyed this interview - not ONLY because it was consistantly entertaining, but also 'cause it confirmed my assessment that Sean Deeb is an intelligent, articulate, centered kind of guy who says just what he means and feels.- a "real" person. Also agree that, when compared to "Poker After Dark," there are FAR more "Big Game" hands stored in my brain's "Truly Memorable Hands" file. Thanks, D-man.

i just got an idea , it probably is stupid but what do you think of this? say it,s a $5,000 buy in in standard tourney but you can buy in for half and only get half the starting chips, or start for say $1,250 but only get a quarter starting stack? or even buy in for $500 but only get one tenth of the starting stack? i guess really it,d be an advantage for the low buy in guys where if they stay patient and just wait on a hand they could get lucky, what do you think? dumb idea?

The concept of slowroll is often misrepresented by the losing buffoons. The only real slowroll is when a player shows his hand, and the opponent deliberately takes a long time to turn over the winning hand. There are only two situations in poker: 1) If a Player bets and is called, then the player betting must show his hand first or mock the hand. 2) if the river is checked, then the last aggressor or the position of the button determines who should show first, depending on the rules of the cardroom. In both cases, if the order is is followed, there is no chance for slowroll. This order should be followed regardless of the strength of the hand. For example, even if a player flop Royal Flush and his opponent bets into him, then the opponent must show his hand first. The reason is an important part of poker, because it reveals how the opponent plays, which is far more important than the outcome of a specific hand. But the losing players often start crying "Slowroll", when there is no Slowroll.

The mixed games, especially those that are no limit are much more easily solveable. What he really means is that those games are mostly still going to be attracting whales and not people writing code to solve for instances, but the idea a limit game can be less solveable than a NL is kinda crazy.

I guess this is a generational thing. Young people don't consider being rude to be a worse thing than being not funny. For us old guys making somebody feel foolish for a laugh, unless they're a dick and deserve it, is just wrong. So by that logic the Matasow one was fair play obv. Btw Shaun Deeb couldn't be MORE wrong about people not caring the stakes of televised cash games. I'm not tuning in to some $5/$10 bullshit and hardly anyone else is either. People want high stakes games, period. The only time those low stakes games are fun to watch is when there's like 5 straddles on and it becomes a huge game anyways.

TLDW: Deeb's family treated him poorly when he was younger. He is letting out his childhood anger - not on those who treated him wrongly, but on random people - in a passive aggressive way, by slowrolling as much as humanly possible. Deeb makes a weak attempt to appeal to the audience that this sometimes helps him get a read on people. The immaturity in this makes it hard to watch, I only got through a few minutes (bookmarks provided by some people in the comments).
