This girl broke my heart. I always rooted for her. Perhaps one of the finest ladies skaters we've ever had. If she'd had the mental strength, she could have ruled US skating after MK left. But, without the mental strength... sigh.
Her 3toe combination was so beautiful with the music. Everything is just so gorgeous. This was my favorite program from her. Just breathtaking. This was the first of the Greensboro nationals and one of the reasons why that city is so magical for the US Figure Skating Championships.
Crazy to think that this was almost five years ago, I remember watching this live so well! Kinda sad that most people really forgot about Alissa once Gracie came into senior
She’s from my town, her dad worked with one of my closest friends for years, she has a lovely supportive family and she’s an extremely kind girl, very shy but very very intelligent and empathic. The music is George Winston and he plays here a lot too!! Oh, and Scott Hamilton is from here too!
She didn’t look nervous at all, and certainly happened to be confident with her ability to complete a flawless performance. I’m completely amazed at her difficult jumps to which she executed perfectly! Wow. What a true comeback kid who is also completely unstoppable!!! Yahoo, Alissa!!!! I’m so glad I saw it on video!
She’s an amazing figure skater. I’m so happy she did an outstanding job I wished I had the chance to see it while my mom was alive. A heartfelt congratulations, to Alissa Czisny!
The last truly magical one imo. I'll have to admit I've missed a few over the past 11 years - Mariah Bell did a great job last year - but from what I've seen nothing has topped this.
I loved watching Alissa Czisny skate. I only wish that she found this confidence earlier In her career. By this point, I believe that she was 23 years old (maybe 24?) and had missed making the Olympic Team twice despite high expectations for her. If she did this 4 years earlier, time might not have taken such a physical toll on her body and we would have seen a totally different skater. The sport NEEDS someone with her style and elegance today.
gorgeousss and this piece of music is SO hard to interpret because it's really quiet and not much happens, so it's tricky to figure where to place jumps, footwork, spins, etc and as she generally does, she produces yet another stunning alissa program. hope she goes to sochi because she is SO great!
@anne91276: Actually, that's what Carolina Kostner did last season to win. Alissa is always aiming to achieve an artistic masterpiece, which includes the more difficult jumps.
I would have love to see Alissa Czisny do her fabulous russian split jumps and to not do the other jumps that would demand consistency from her. She would have had scored higher have she done the jumps that were easier for her to execute. During her practice, she would work on the difficult jumps that seem to give her the most trouble. Of course she is still one of the best figure skater ever.
No. She’s 36, he is 56. She’s from my town, my best friend worked with her dad for years. She’s always been extremely mature and I don’t find it odd that two people who dedicated their lives to exactly the same thing ended up married. She’s no idiot, and she comes from a lovely and supportive family. Her dad worked his butt off to pay for her lessons, they all sacrificed so much, they aren’t rich, she wasn’t spoiled or out of touch. She’s worked hard her whole life and I have no doubt she and her husband relate without major issues.
Gosh, I love this skate. For those who watch till the end: why does Andrea Joyce ask such lame questions? Ugh. What do they teach people in journalism school? How to flatter those who you interview?
I am in awe by Alissa's spins, don't get me wrong, but I just don't like her arm positions on her camel and layback. It's like she just doesn't quite get all the way into her positions...but still! I love her grace, and personality!
You're not the only one! I love just about everything in her skating but her Y spin and setup to the Biellman drive me crazy. In her Y spin she tries so hard to point her toe that she doesn't fully extend her knee and breaks the line. And in her catch foot before Biellmann her free arm is just jetting straight out awkwardly. 2 quirky things that I've always noticed, lol
Just don’t understand these girls work so hard the time the money everything they put into it and they never make it to the Olympics they just retire and go away She is extremely talented It should’ve gone to the Olympics it’s really uncalled for
@@harveychadbourne5180 Exactamundo. But I'm a bit partial to Salome. For me 96 MK is the most imperious ever, and Romanza and Salome R the most ferocious not to mention magical 1/2 punch programs in the history of the sport.
Not as bad as the Russians in take off and ride out. Remember judging system allows a quarter turn for grading but pre rotations and under rotation being scored high is a whole level of nonsense in figure skating nowadays. At least Technique was demanded in this era, many skaters had ice dance tests too for edges and moves in the field. Now it’s just jumping beans and no interpretation

This was a dream come true. Just breathtaking
You can see the humility in her face, her movements, her voice. Something difficult to see in a figure skater that has gone so far.
She has some of the best spins I've ever seen!

This performance still gives me chills 9 years later. My fav program ever.
YESSSSS! The spins, the flow, the emotion 😍😍😍😍
aaaaand i'm back again lmao

oh my god her spins are so insanely fast!!! love this :)
One of the most beautiful and magical free skate performance at U.S. Nats by a lady skater ever. M.K. woulda been proud.
The last truly magical one imo. I'll have to admit I've missed a few over the past 11 years - Mariah Bell did a great job last year - but from what I've seen nothing has topped this.

Absolutely!
Also better coaching in a broader spectrum, she had it all.

This performance belongs in a museum.
Why?
I love this program
@anne91276: Actually, that's what Carolina Kostner did last season to win. Alissa is always aiming to achieve an artistic masterpiece, which includes the more difficult jumps.
That is my best program. Her skating are perfectly suited to George Winston’s music.
This makes me so happy :)
one word. amazing.
one of the greatest moments ever in figure skating
This was exactly 12 years ago
am in love...its amazing
Gorgeous
My favorite program
Scott Hamilton in 2011: what else could you want in a women’s figure skater?
No one:
Russian teenagers in 2021: where is quad
Go watch ice dance for all the people that can't jump, lol.
@@malswansky3376 at least they have deep edges legit choreography and appropriate interpretation
I like to watch stuff in British broadcasting because they aren't as as negative
Stunning

She's so nice.
wow. I do think this would do well today! so Yuka, Kwan but so code of points!! lovely!!
I am in love...
que bueno que esta
She’s now married to Kurt Browning who is more than twice her age. Yikes.
No. She’s 36, he is 56.

Age is gross yes but she is also so gorgeous and he now looks like Scott Hamilton. Maybe she had a crush early on lol. As long as they are happy....
Who cares about age? Only busy bodies with no lives of their own.
If they're happy and found love, who are we to judge?
@@Cassie-pt7mt I’ll comment on this in two years when they are divorced.
It was 7 years ago.
Brava! Brava! Brava!
@peter50358 I think this is the best behind Kwan's Tosca and Lyra Angelica! :)
GioMariatex97 I didn’t like Tosca that much and 03’ Aranjuez from MK is my absolute favorite of all time - Alissa was good but not great as MK

Maybe the best LP in US nationals history, except for MK's Tosca. Yes?
Peter Wesley no not even close Lyra Angelica Tosca. Michelle Kwan 98 nationals best performance in history of woman's figure skating

Best spinner in the world
Она прыгает в обратную сторону?или мне мерещится?
I like her faviorte jump is a triple klutz and that's the jump step is awful
📌 Valieva copycat this program ... (actually stole it)
pffft nah she wishes 😂
Oh look! Homewrecker On Ice!
Uhhhh no. Kurt was divorced for a few years before he began dating Alissa.
all the jumps are under rotated
