HAHAHA Freaking great!!! I just got an '83 CT110 three days ago, and I felt exactly like Tom. I kept thinking "how is this so much fun?!?!?!?". Ive been terrorizing th streets of San Diego on that beast. So fun.
I've just worked out a deal with a guy for a 1981 CT110. He's had it since he was ten. But it's been in storage for 20 years. This will be one of those "will it run" videos I suppose. Once I get my hands on it that is.
Probably the best city bike there is. Bulletproof, cheap, capable of carrying ridiculous amounts of weight for its size (post aint light after all) AND no one wants to steal them. I'd ride the shit out it... and laugh the entire time. Hilarious vid.
Bro, I own the Grand-Father to your bike. I own and ride a 1973 Honda Trail 90 or CT-90. It is 48 years old and is used as a daily driver. I keep it looking in mint condition. Everyone tells me all the time as to how nice my little bike is to look at on a sunny day. I truly love this bike. I looked at some of the new bikes like your Sister owns, here in the States, they just made it over here, last year (2020). I've never heard of them called "Postie" bikes. I would assume they are used for Mail Delivery. Take care friend, love the video!!!!
Your laugh sounding really friendly, and the whole atmosphere of this video was so freakin cool, that I couldn't watch it without a huge smile on my face :) Keep it up the great stuff!
There is a guy who rode a C90 Cub.. 14,500 miles from Malasia back to the UK.. He is currently riding from the Arctic Sea in Alaska to the southern Tip of South America. Pretty amazing.. You cannot kill these engines. I would suspect your average expensive bike would not fare as well as his $500 C90... or this Postie. C90Adventures on RUclips. Also BikerBits... a fellow Austrailian.. who has converted a Postie to a light adventure bike. They are great fun.... in there own way.
+kens97sto171 Yeah..Not really news. www.mycause.com.au/events/apexoutbackpostiebikeride Been happening for years and years. I'd love to participate though!
Yep, changing to Super Cubs (they're calling them a CB110 I think), 110cc, electric start, fuel injection, crappy plastic fairing and a horrible green colour. Got our first two at work about a month ago. Best thing about them is that they are wheelie machines because of the mounting position of the pannier rack being further rearward than the CT110.
I own an old 1971 ct70 starting the restoration process. Hondas are the most reliable thing in the world after 40 years of sitting around not being ran it started on the firt kick
8 years old this. These things are now collectors items fetching up to 3k depending on condition. Only so many other bikes have tripled in price in that time Tom.
This is your second video i'm watching (after the ninja exhaust change in suit!) and I think I found the right channel. You did good to ride such a bike with such a gear, it looks silly and awesome, I'd do that too!
Hey, I've had a few motorcycles in my day...BMW K1200RS...Norton John Player Special...and a bunch more, but my all time favorites are my two Honda-s...'84 CT110 and the '79 CT90. Maybe the best bikes for circumnavigating through the apocalypse that's coming down the road. .
I used to have a 1971 Honda CB100 and I really love that bike. It's so much fun and easy to handle. Unlike modern bikes, it has a kick start. I constantly had to shift (5 speeds) and use the clutch. I didn't do any crazy things like you did by taking it off road and go on the freeway though. Unfortunately I had to sold it for a freeway-capable bike.
I see postie's scrape pegs etc on these things all the time. Most of the posties I know said best bit of the job was getting out and tearing up the asphalt on these bad boys.
Burwood is 17K/s away from the city, 14.5 in a bee line. 20k's from Ferntree gully, 19 in a bee line. Burwood is closer to the city than the mountains. For you it might be closer to the mountains, but NOWHERE near close. Might want to check out your %'s
How many km's/years service does a "Postie bike have (on average) when the Postal Service decides to retire it & put it up for auction to the public? ( I'm sure it varies according to the area it serviced, the conditions under which it served, etc. ...)
Think I remember that the archaic speed limiter used by Aussie Post topped them out at 70. I think that the speed limiter wasn't nation wide. Something about each region or dispatch centres clsetting their own limit like 50-70 depending on how built up or densly populated, near retirement / tourist clusters etc. Mine had it's speed limiter removed when I bought it for $150 back in the day. I would have maxed it out at maybe just over 80 still day, level maIn road and it wasn't even a specimen.
Alright hey tom. I am a postie ride one of those every day. On the light note there alot of fun very easy to ride. I cant say too much about the fun because it can be taken the wrong way if someone from aus post read it. On a less lighter note. U have to remember that you will have mail weight on the bike plus small parcels and be on it for about 4hrs a day at least. I can tell you the lights arnt great at night lol.
Lmao. This was my exact reaction upon first riding my Sachs Madass. Big bikes are awesome but for all out unabashed giddy fun you can't beat these little bikes- it's like riding a deck chair around! They're cheap to run, easy to work on, and fun to customise.
This wasn't Burwood I was talking about though. It would be more accurate to say it was Vermont South, which is less than 10k's from the bottom of 'The Devils Elbow', and so considering that I live in Malvern, I would still consider it to be 'close' to the hills. would you be happier if I retracted my original comment, and instead said "towards the hills"?
hahaha it'd be funny if there was moto postie where posties race! but not on the track around on the footpaths to see who can deliver the mail the quickest
Lol I did a paper round on my bike. got the bag stuck in the wheel and trashed all the papers. Must have been because I used the clutch instead of holding the papers... great fun bike
closer to the hills than the other 75% of Melbourne, yes. I live about 10k's from the city, so for me, Burwood East/Vermont South is close to the hills. I stand by what I said.
i will have to let you ride my postie when shes rego'd on novemeber with a different engine thats 155cc with higher compression bigger valves and roller rockers.. and a couple of other mods planned
Nice video Tom, I love my Postie (but I can't wait to upgrade either lol), and I know in NSW you can't ride on the footpaths unless you're a postie as they have a special exception. Not sure about where you are though.
What the hell is a "postie"? Is that like a "roo"? When I was a kid, a dude had a CT 90 that looked almost like that thing, they weren't really big enough for the street back then either.
its not illegal for posties to ride on the footpath. only Australia Post CT110's operated by a trained PDO's are allowed to. no other motor vehicle can.
Oh, OK, so I guess these little cycles were used for delivering mail? Around here, the mail man rides around in a little truck made just for delivering mail, it says US Mail on the side. Those dudes have to buy those trucks themselves and they are not 4-wheel drive. I'd be afraid to try to deliver mail on a CT 90, my friend crashed his, broke his arm, trying to eat a piece of cake while riding.
Before I was a postie I thought these bikes were shit. Three months into the job and I bought one as I now think they are THE SHIT!
FUCK YEAH!!
How manny times do you reckon you broke the law
HAHAHA Freaking great!!! I just got an '83 CT110 three days ago, and I felt exactly like Tom. I kept thinking "how is this so much fun?!?!?!?". Ive been terrorizing th streets of San Diego on that beast. So fun.

Fuck dude, If you rode past my house like that I would chase you down and give you a beer and a high five. You're a fucking legend!
This is the exact reason I fell in love with pit bikes and mini bikes, waaaaay to much fun :)
You're so fucking lucky no one stepped out of there driveway.
Just like every posty! lol
Also those changes from grass to footpath. If you take them too shallow will catch your front wheel and throw you off.
This has to be one of the best reviews I've seen in a while
You should have ridden slower on the footpath to give us the chance to hear you wind all the dogs up
Probably the best city bike there is.
Bulletproof, cheap, capable of carrying ridiculous amounts of weight for its size (post aint light after all) AND no one wants to steal them.
I'd ride the shit out it... and laugh the entire time.
Hilarious vid.
Andrew Webber
Also because it’s a Honda
I got mine because it had been stolen 🤣

This will probably be my first bike, and seeing how much fun you had makes me excited

Thanks mang ! It was a fun video to make !
8 years old this. These things are now collectors items fetching up to 3k depending on condition. Only so many other bikes have tripled in price in that time Tom.
You can still pick em up cheap in rural NSW. Like all things hipsters ruined the humble posty
The most legendary of all motorbikes in our beautiful country
America has its harleys we have the posty, the posty will outlast man himself.
best fucking video on youtube hahahah
This is your second video i'm watching (after the ninja exhaust change in suit!) and I think I found the right channel.

7.5hp, that's not bad from a 1980's 4-stroke 105cc scooter.
I was sold on it when he said it had more than 1 gear!
haha best bike video I've seen since becoming interested in motorbikes since last year lol. Keep up the good work mate! Good on ya :P
That was probably the best bike review I've ever seen!
This video made me laugh so many times
Another fool

Its like you revisited the age of 10... And it was glorious.
they are the New zealand postie bike aswell. i got one 2006 with 40,000kms on it . got it up to 100 down hill . fun as hell paid $1000 for it
i wish my postman said "here ya go, bit of mail, alright here ya go ripper!"
I just became a postie. Great little bike. Bit different after you get off a ZX14R though.
legendary little bikes and for good reason.
Wishing I had bought one in the states back in the early 1980's while they were still sold here. Wishing I never sold my 1969 Trail 90.
2:05 - 2:09 That laugh haha
Hes having so much fun
You had me at the fast and the furious reference...loved it.
I love this video this bloke just loves it!!! Made a have a laugh well done bro
I see postie's scrape pegs etc on these things all the time. Most of the posties I know said best bit of the job was getting out and tearing up the asphalt on these bad boys.

As a postie from a country that absolutely does not have these.... I want one!
No clutch, big fun climbs the hills like a Matchless.. This bloke has humour..
So are you entering in the Australian postie pike gp? would make a great vid! I'll buy you beer if you do it
How many km's/years service does a "Postie bike have (on average) when the Postal Service decides to retire it & put it up for auction to the public? ( I'm sure it varies according to the area it serviced, the conditions under which it served, etc. ...)
That Fast and Furious reference made my night!
its so true after riding "big boy" bikes that hopping on a little 50cc scooter or 125 still puts a huge ass smile on your face :D/
Think I remember that the archaic speed limiter used by Aussie Post topped them out at 70.

He has been spotted riding a postie bike. He is... the most interesting Tom in the world.
u can get some good tuning parts for these cams, even 4 valve heads!
Lmao. This was my exact reaction upon first riding my Sachs Madass. Big bikes are awesome but for all out unabashed giddy fun you can't beat these little bikes- it's like riding a deck chair around! They're cheap to run, easy to work on, and fun to customise.
This is the first bike I rode. My brother had one years ago and we use to bush bash it.
Thats a wicked sweet ride Tom. hope your sis doesnt mind how ya treated her postie bike :)
GRANNY SHIFTING, NOT DOUBLE CLUTCHING LIKE YOU SHOULD!!!
Best reference ever!
im in love with this bike now I need to import one to Scotland now and sell my duke :D
seems like your having more fun on this than on your 636 :)
Love it! You rock dude. I have an r6. I'm going to buy that postiiieeee!
nice little 'the fast and the furious' reference tom
Recently rode one for first time, too much fun
I like this video!! - "No rules; Just Fun!!"...
Before the GROM.. was the legendary CT110
You're Australian? When I get my bike I'd love to ride with you :P
Nice vid haha, i'd love to do a courier kind of job on a bike bet it'd be a load of fun
love little bikes they are the bomb around town!
This wasn't Burwood I was talking about though. DagoHeadturner Here in Cessnock, we had the inaugural australian postie bike gp, complete with 'le mans' start, for real, youtube it!!!
There will be plenty up for grabs soon, Aus Post is upgrading.
I'd like to own one. They're very rare in the Netherlands
Lol I did a paper round on my bike. got the bag stuck in the wheel and trashed all the papers. Must have been because I used the clutch instead of holding the papers... great fun bike
Funny thing is, When you were on the footpath. they would be inside the house goin "Posties been, better check the letter box"
closer to the hills than the other 75% of Melbourne, yes. I live about 10k's from the city, so for me, Burwood East/Vermont South is close to the hills. I stand by what I said.
You obviously enjoyed that. Small bikes can be just as much fun as big ones just in a different way.
Haha I seriously LOVE your videos!
SO much fun!
I would love to go riding with you! :)
i will have to let you ride my postie when shes rego'd on novemeber with a different engine thats 155cc with higher compression bigger valves and roller rockers.. and a couple of other mods planned
Noticed your tearing up Blackburn road, westal road and parts of prinny hwy
Nice video Tom, I love my Postie (but I can't wait to upgrade either lol), and I know in NSW you can't ride on the footpaths unless you're a postie as they have a special exception. Not sure about where you are though.
Wait till you ride the current NBC110 Model!
I lol'd so hard I fell into the subscribe button!
Couldn't stop laughing, golden!
I've got an '82 c70 passport. best bike ever
There's a bloody postie gang that just started in my city, by the looks of it I might have to join them
'now me and the mad scientist and rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried'
That exhaust is rad as hell!
What the hell is a "postie"? Is that like a "roo"? When I was a kid, a dude had a CT 90 that looked almost like that thing, they weren't really big enough for the street back then either.

Yeah. Eastern suburbs. Close to the hills.
Ha! Best review ever! Loving the Fast and Furious quote as well!!

bikesales classifies this bike as "Adventure Touring". I tend to agree after watching this vid.
Very funny vlog, here's proof you're having just as much fun on little bikes as the big'uns!
You're a hooligan!
Do the squeaky brakes come as standard?
Well, I hope that ain't government property you are thrashing like that mate! haha
I just came here to get a little review on the bike... Ended up watching the whole thing LOL...
I've got a Honda Trail 90 that I just fuck around with around town haha
how on earth did you get that thing over 60km/h up that hill on Highbury road?
Taxi at 9:33 I was in it thinking "What kind of a spud rides full leathers on a postie bike. Now I know.
I'm getting this as a commute bike 🤣
Are the posties allowed on the pavement on this weapon?
should have pointed out the rubber thingy on the bottom of the side stands :)
put knobblys on the front of mine
makes a great off road drift bike xD
but shit the exhaust gets hot as hell
You left out one cool detail, they have a park brake. How many bikes do you know of that have a park brake? I get paid to ride one of these :)
Your CBR 500R video bought me to your channel, but this video made me subscribe! :D
